Hey, I've actually never considered BMW as a brand I'd look into, but I'm not looking to upgrade to another Tesla (quite done with the brand actually, and they're everywhere now, too). I'm in the US, so we're in the reservation stage for getting the new iX3 here.

The Neue Klasse iX3 ticks a lot of boxes for what I've been looking for: a nicer, quieter ride without sacrificing performance. Better storage but without being too much bigger. And I kind of hate the maximalist interior design of Mercedes. I've been watching a ton of reviews of the car inside and out from European drivers.

My 2019 Tesla Model 3 is perfectly serviceable, and there's not really anything wrong with it. But I've been wanting something quieter and smoother because it can get a little rough on bad roads and I have to talk louder than I would prefer to on the highway to anyone who doesn't have great hearing due to wind noise / road noise. Has anyone got any unique comments that might sway me one way or another -- for example:

1. Has anyone driven both the OG (pre 2023-ish?) Model 3 and the new iX3? Probably not many, I'd imagine, but that would be a really valuable review to me
2. Or a comparison of the latest Tesla 3/Y to the iX3?
3. Should I wait for better suspension and ventilated seats coming after the first production run?
4. Does anyone know if BMW will ever have an acoustic glass option? The quieter the better in my mind, but I already have a feeling it will be way ahead of what I have right now
5. I drive my Tesla on the track, and while that's not the most important aspect, how would the iX3 compare?

Thinking about a big-battery EV like the iX3 NK and realistic summertime range:

- Stated range in ideal conditions: 698 km

- Range penalties:

- Foregone top charge 20% , because I will never charge above 80% at a public charger, because it's rude, and slow.

- Arrival state of charge: 10%, because I don't want to arrive empty.

- Highway speed penalty: 15%, because the road trip is all highway, which lowers efficiency compared to EPA.

- High AC use: 5%, because it's really hot.

And I am disregarding other range penalties like bike rack, bigger tires, stereo, passenger load, etc.

So the 700 km stated range becomes more like 350 km on a summer road trip. Do these numbers make sense?

What's your opinion about this extra? Is it a must have?

I am not a big fan of the illuminated kidneys, but I can see how the extra lighting both front and read can make the car look better.

Matrix lights are also amazing but 90% of my driving will be urban and/or daytime, so I am not thinking this is a must have.

The major issue I have is with BMW - why on earth did you remove the ability to use the USB ports to play audio? That's right folks - the 4 USB-C ports are only for charging. You can't plug in a thumb drive with your hi-fi songs to truly enjoy the Harman Kardon experience - you're stuck with streaming services only. I think this is a major misstep for BMW and I'm expecting them to reverse this in the next software update. I'd love to get some community backing on this idea - what are your thoughts?

So I picked up my Alpine White iX3 yesterday and I love it! The driving experience is smooth and I love the cabin interior. I've only driven in the city so far so waaaay to early to comment on range and performance (I'm at 37 kms total :)). I only have two things to share with potential buyers - 1) Digital Key works fine as it's based on NFC. However, Digital Key+ which utilizes UWB is also a prerequisite for the Remote Control Parking feature are both not working for me as I have an iPhone 16e. So if you're a iPhone 16e or 17e owner, you're out of luck as neither model supports UWB.

What kind of prices are people paying for the ix3? In Texas. I read some got 10-15% off msrp. Is this true ?
