I am struggling to learn new games even after I watched and played the tutorials, anyone could give me some realistic advice ?
I was hooked on BGA for its wide range of selection but soon I realised it took so much effort to learn new games and explaining it to my friends. Is there any advice on how to pick up new games ?
Biggest active Arena communities on BGA?
Hey everyone,
Is there an official list or does anyone know current player numbers/stats for which games have the most active Arena queues right now?
Just looking for the absolute biggest active communities on Board Game Arena regardless of genre or complexity. Any data or insights?
Thanks!
Strange reporting standards
I have complained about people playing a regular speed game and then complaining in the chat that people need to play faster.
Today i saw this happen again in a chat and i wanted to report this person for being 1 a dick and 2 for harassing people while no one expired their time or even came close.
When going through the report menu i noticed you cannot report someone for harassing someone about playtime while their within the bounds of the rules, BUT YOU CAN REPORT SOMEONE FOR PLAYING TO SLOW?!?!
What the …. happened in this world?
Board Game Arena is now the worst board game site in the world
boardgamearena.comWe made a party game where only ONE person needs to buy it — everyone else joins free from their browser
Hey! Solo/small dev here, working on Singulier, a nervous, fast party game: every round you get a question, and you must NOT give the same answer as anyone else. Duplicate = you lose a heart. Run out of hearts = eliminated. Last one standing wins.
The twist: only the host buys the game on Steam. Everyone else joins instantly from their phone browser — no download, no account needed. So it's basically Jackbox-style, but built around "never say the same thing twice," with modes like Sudden Death, Reversed, 10s Blitz, and a Trap mode.
It's currently Coming Soon on Steam — https://store.steampowered.com/app/4877590/Singulier/. Would love feedback from anyone who's into party/social deduction games. Happy to answer anything about the dev process too.
Moderation
Does anyone know how long it takes for an appeal to be viewed and if clicking the blocked screen acknowledging the moderation means I lose my right to appeal?
Background - I received a moderation and 10 ELO points for insulting someone in the chat. The lines of text they highlighted in said chat were not insults and dont' seem to align with their own policy. I submitted an appeal via the contact us function but in the mean time i can't seem to bypass the pop up screen on the front page unless I tick I understand to:
"i have read the moderation report, and acknowledge this behaviour will result in stronger penalties if repeated".
We I don't acknowledge the behaviour since it wasn't an insult. So I don't feel i should be forced to tick 'i understand' and wondering whether in doing so it means the appeal I already lodged then gets wiped.
Which tablet do you use for BGA?
Hi all, looking to buy a tablet mainly for BGA and would love to hear from people who actually play on one.
Mostly 7 Wonders Duel, Azul, Toy Battle and Heat, and maybe something heavier like Barrage later on.
I'm leaning towards the Xiaomi Pad 7 or the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen2, mainly because of the resolution. But I'm open to anything, so if you're happy with yours I'd love to know what it is.
Also curious whether you'd go for a handy 11" or a big 13" if you were buying now.
Any experiences or opinions welcome, thanks!
Looking for a Better Catan Online Experience?
I’ve been building Settlr for a while now, and it’s gotten to the point where I think it’s genuinely one of the most complete ways to play Catan online, so I wanted to share it with the community. It's completely free and has no paywalls or ads.
It started because I wanted to play Catan Cities and Knights in my browser without having to pay, but I’ve kept adding to it based on feedback from players.
Some of what’s available now:
- Play directly in your browser with no download or signup required
- Native mobile app
- All the major expansions + rush
- Custom house rules and variants
- 2–8 player games
- Ranked matchmaking
- Difficult bots that actually put up a fight
- Spectate ongoing games
- Board builder and custom boards
- Detailed guides for newer players
- Player stats, achievements and leaderboards
- In-game chat, dice roll stats, and event logs
- Discord integration for playing while hanging out in voice chat
I’ve also spent a lot of time improving the bots because one of my biggest annoyances with online Catan has always been someone leaving and the replacement bot basically ruining the game.
There’s still a lot I want to improve, but the game is completely playable right now at PlaySettlr.com
If you regularly play Catan online, I’d genuinely love to know what Settlr is missing that would make you switch from whatever platform you currently use. Features in development:
- Game replays
- Individual rankings for expansions
- Daily puzzles
- Much more that i'm keeping secret for now
Feedback, criticism and bug reports are all welcome.
Cards game recommendation
Hi everyone. I’m looking for a recommendation for a card game to play with my wife that has the following features:
- Cards only (or at most a small board)
- Competitive 1v1
- Somewhat thematic (fantasy or horror; no sci-fi).
We often play *Dracula vs. Van Helsing*, *Radlands*, *Gwent*, or *Deep Regrets*.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
So how long do mods usually take to apologize?
I find it funny that theyre so fast to respond to false claims and moderate an accout, but all of the suddent they go radio silent when one gives arguments about it being a false report and demands an apology in return. Talking about the web/app itself btw not the Reddit.
Why did I lose?
The Automa score on the right showed 156 ever since they finished their last turn. I played a few more rounds and ended with 234 and it says I lost.
On the left it says Automa ended with 242 points. How would I have known this was their ending score if it shows 156 on the side?
achievements?
I have been playing a lot of Zombicide since it was added on BGA. I have noticed a person who will host several Tutorials simultaneously. They show up day after day looking for 1-2 players. The tutorial is fairly short. Do you think he is doing to for achievements? I can't imagine it would be fun to play the tutorial over and over again. I am not judging, just wondering what someone would get out of plying the tutorial over and over again.
