Advice on fins.

Im wondering if you guys had any recommendations on fin brands/models. I am a size 11-12 US with a wide foot and low foot arch. Im usually riding on small-medium sized waves.
Also wondering if symmetrical or asymmetrical are better, and if fins socks are a worthwhile investment.

Bodyboard core dilemma

Hi All,

I have been bodyboarding for many years, need a new board, and very keen on the VS Winchester Quad Concave PFS-T/Wifly Tail. My only concern is that, between the mesh, the carbon stringer, and the PFS-T core, it'll be too stiff for my 50-65F/10-18C water temps. Curious as to whether anyone has experience with this board, and/or input on PFS-T cores in my water temps?

Many thanks,

Loren

Do you consistently cross your legs?

I only seem to do it when I consciously think about it. Wish I could just do it without thinking about it. Seems like a regional/generational thing though.

Super Serious Post

Alright boys, after determining after a single bad ride that my childhood boodie board didn't seem to be suitable for the wedge yesterday, what is a good board for the wedge. I see everyone rocks Science there, and I wanna fit in, so preferably a Science board or even cooler. Thanks in advance.

Anybody else personally, or know someone who has dislocated their shoulder body boarding. And if so how are you/them doing now. And how was the recovery.

I have dislocated my shoulder body boarding 5 times now. I got surgery and didn’t take the recovery seriously. I was back in the water within the third month. It’s completely my fault but just want to hear others experiences honestly.

20 Year Old Costco Morey Boogie Board

So I'm a bodysurfer mainly and I found my old childhood boogie board at my parents' place last month. Finally took it out to the wedge and it felt super weird. If felt like it was just super flexy so I'm guessing there is no stringer in it? I went on probably a 5 ft wave and I couldn't really turn with the wave so ended up going straight which was lame. It felt super bouncey and and flexible and I'm guessing pro board don't feel that way.

Anyway, what's a good board you'd recommend for 5-10 ft wedge?

PP 1.2 or 1.9 for the mediterranean sea from Autumn to Spring?

Hi. I'm looking to buy a good bodyboard to use in the mediterranean sea (Spain) on Autumn, Winter and Spring. I am already using a EPS board but is getting old, and would like to upgrade to a PP board. Should I get a PP 1.2 or PP 1.9? I know the best balance would be 1.5 but they are a lot more money. I would like to start doing some tricks, just prone.

Appreciation post for dad (Rondog Ziebell)

Little post for my dad Ron “Rondog” Ziebell Socal legend and owner of Alternative Surf the US’s first exclusively bodyboarding shop, who broke his spine at The Wedge in 2008.
He made an insane recovery against the odds, he can walk, drive, and even bodyboards
still 🤙🏼
He’s my hero, my inspiration, and my best friend.
Love you dad ❤️
If anyone knows of him and/or has any questions feel free to comment or dm!

Good Bodyboard for Kid?

My in-laws want to buy my son a good bodyboard for his upcoming birthday. He already has a cheapo Costco one (Scott Burke), but the idea is to upgrade. To be fair, he is almost 10, a bit small for his age, and not advanced yet. Ideally, I'd like it to be one he can grow into. Are there any higher quality, slightly smaller bodyboards in the $100-200 range that would be a good fit? We mostly go to the beach in North County San Diego.

Bodyboard

Hi guys , I am looking for a board with a narrow nose. Or one that is narrow in general; I don't get along well with wide boards because they lack reactivity and don't respond well. Do you have any recommendations or brands that make boards like this?

Help Picking Out My next Board

Hey guys, first-time poster but occasional lurker, looking for some advice on a new board.

I'm 6'3" and around 160–170 lbs(pretty wiry). I've been riding a 42" Catch Surf Classic for roughly 5years and have taken pretty good care of it. I know it's not really close to a performance board, but I got it as a gift and didn't feel like I should upgrade until I felt like it was limiting me. Over the past year, it's finally getting pretty worn out. The rails are fraying, the deck doesn't hold wax very well anymore, and I've started to feel like the board is limiting me a bit.

I'm from Orange County and grew up riding upper jetties and will go out occasionally at the wedge. I feel very comfortable in step hollow waves and feel like I've gotten fairly good at barrel riding. I feel comfortable getting in and out of barrels and really enjoy it. However, I would like to continue to progress. When I went away to college on the Central Coast, I started riding more reef breaks and putting more time in colder water.

I've landed a few rollos and feel like I'm getting close to having them down consistently, but I have a tendency to lose the board during the rotation. I've also never really been able to get 360s down. Obviously there's a technique component to both(and I need to just rep them out), but my current 42" has always felt pretty big and cumbersome when I try to throw it around.

I've always been overwhelmed when looking for boards because I would prefer a slightly smaller board(maybe like a 41 or 41.5) for the purposes of it being lighter; however, my frame is kinda strange, being pretty tall and skinny, so I was wondering if anyone was in a similar situation or had any recommendations.

Looking for something a lot more serious than my previous board, and just wanted to reach out!

I really enjoy seeing all the rad waves you guys post here!
