Give me hope

I'm just before they go to fillory in the first book, where Quentin is crashing out because Alice is having sex with penny BECAUSE QUENTIN CHEATED ON HER CUZ HES A FUCKING IDIOT DRUNKARD AHHHHH. Anyway I'll probably finish reading it but it's literal emotional torture and agony for me right now. Do things get any better???😢 No spoilers please.

LOVED the books but having trouble getting into the show

I’m not a huge reader but part of my new year’s resolution this year was to read more. I picked up the first Magicians book in April and finished the trilogy by late May. I tried giving the show a watch but it’s SO different that I’ve been having trouble getting into it. But I see people posting here about how much they love the show. I need (mostly spoiler free) encouragement to keep watching the show. I’ve made it through the first 8 episodes and I’m not quite obsessed with it yet. I want that to change!

So far I love Elliot. I couldn’t see the Elliot and Quentin shipping in the books but I definitely see them as a thing in the show.

Touch Me

Has anyone watched this yet? Olivia Taylor Dudley plays the main character. It should come with all kinds of warnings - body horror, SA, SA involving a child (referenced), and gore. She has a 9-minute monologue at the start, and she does a great job, but it’s definitely not going to be for everyone. I did catch a little Niffin behavior, honestly.

Available on Shudder/AMC.

Marina my queen

After many many watch throughs, I am finding that Marina may just be my favorite character. Definitely top three with Margo and Elliot.

Season 3 is so good

On my billionth rewatch (thank you Ireland prime for adding it back so I don't have to break out the blu ray lol) and I think it every single time. Season 3 is my absolute favourite season of the show. And the Under Pressure bit? Magic. That scene with Harriet in pure silence? Absolute fire.

I WISH TODD WASN'T IN IT SO MUCH

ADAM DIMARCO IS TOO HOT. EVERYTIME HE COMES ON SCREEN MY HEART FLUTTERS AND MAKES ME SICKENED TO MY STOMACH. IT IS THE MOST HORRIFIC OF TIMES WHEN I DO SEE HIM APPEAR FOR I FEEL THE GRANDEST OF GIDDY BUT TOO THE MOST TERRID OF SADNESS.

Rewatch # gods only know thoughts

So I’m rewatching the magicians for the millionth time and I still have so many of the same questions.

In S2 Ep4, Penny wishes the White Lady for his hands back. Fog said that something like eyes (and other body parts) are integral so simple magicians magic alone can’t fix them or you risk changing the person, etc. but Penny essentially regrew his hands so it makes no sense that they are still severed from magic. A magical creature regrew Penny’s hands from his body, he should be able to cast unless I’m missing something.

Secondly, Quentin, in his infinite wisdom just wished the White Lady send him home. Aside from prolonging the story, why not wish for the wellspring to be clean? Not totally refill because that will happen naturally, but wish for it to be filtered.

Obviously the show is still fantastic, just some plot holes I haven’t reconciled with

Tick Pickwick spotted!

I was watching the show Perfect Harmony, which is a comedy with lots of musical flair that prominently features Tick Pickwick, a.k.a. Rizwan Manji, in a full season of musical episodes. It's an excellent comedy about a northern "Yankee" forced to live in a more rural area of Kentucky and has full-cast music in every episode. Posting here in case anyone else would be interested to see Rizwan Manji shine in another series. I love seeing Magicians characters in other series

I have 5 credits I can use on audible, what books should I check out?

I loved the magicians TV show and I like darker themes where the protagonist fails or makes mistakes/isn't perfect and relatable i enjoy stuff where the protagonist does get stronger but struggles along the way and isn't perfect and it would be nice if it could be a female protagonist maybe even gay ! I enjoyed the school part in the magicians as well and the more adult themes and jokes. I don't read a lot either!

Just Finished My First Watch Through and...

I'm seriously considering, no, *I am* (after a little ovarying up following desperately, disappointedly, hunting to see if there was any spin-off series to be found after lifting my self imposed search embargo to avoid spoilers) going to start my first rewatch, immediately, literally, right now, at 3.11am.

I'm fairly hardcore at binges of series I enjoy, but even for me, this is counts as a completely unique compliment Straight up the best, most entertaining and fun, show I've ever watched.

I. Loved. It. Can't think of anything to add.

Did Quentin ever actually repair anything before Mayakovski told him his discipline?

I mean he assembled the plane but that's not repairing anything, Alice said he was always good at minor mendings but was this ever actually shown?

Blu-ray Boxset

Purchased the Blu-ray box set and found it odd that it starts with ads for other shows. Is this all the discs or just the first one?

It's that time again!

My wife and I were watching Lucifer last night.

And a musical episode came on. I've never been a fan of musical episodes. But The Magicians did it so perfectly.

So, now I get to introduce her to this amazing series! And how a musical episode should be!
