What are these bugs? They fly around and have been a pest to get rid of . Not to mention they are only biting me. Super itchy

What would really happen to the ecosystem if ticks went extinct?
Maybe this is very common opinion, but i hate ticks with a passion. Living in a southern state with so many ticks that you cannot take a walk outside without getting a tick on your body, it comes naturally. But I often wonder, what would REALLY happen if they all left? I think that there might be a little less birds maybe? I dont really know.
