How do I choose the right grip tape for my badminton racket without regretting it after a few games?

I’ve been trying to replace the grip tape on my badminton racket, and I didn’t realize there were this many options until I actually started looking. I usually just grab whatever feels decent in a sports shop, but this time I wanted to buy a few pieces in advance because I play a couple of times a week and the grip wears out pretty quickly.

The confusing part is that every grip tape seems to claim something different. Some say they are sweat-absorbing, some are tacky, some are soft, and some are thinner for better racket feel. I get the basic idea, but I’m not sure how much of that actually matters once you are playing for an hour or two.

I also checked some badminton accessories suppliers on Alibaba because there are many grip tape options in bulk packs. The prices looked reasonable, but the photos and descriptions do not always make it obvious how the tape feels in real life. A grip can look fine online and still feel too slippery, too thick, or just uncomfortable after a few sessions.

I’m mostly playing casually, not at a professional level, but I still want something that does not peel off quickly or get gross after a short time. For people who play often, do you usually choose towel grip, PU grip, or overgrip? And is there any reliable way to judge grip quality before ordering more than a couple of rolls?

Even if you live a frugal or minimalist lifestyle, what are things you don't skimp on?

I wonder if you live below your means and believe in saving/investing for future. Do you still make exceptions for something 'cause skimping on those aren't worthwhile in long term.

For example, currently I use public transit but I think I'd save so much time if I get a car. I know most people are against getting a car but is it an okay sacrifice if it provides you a lot of convenience and saves time. I don't live downtown or in a area close to station. Nearest bus stop is 12-15 min walk away. I have to use bus to go to a laundromat and carry groceries.

Some other examples could be Investing in a good chair or bed or shoes as someone said the thing that's between you and the ground, should be good quality.

Or spending on experience or eating out to socialize as it's good to connect with new people and have fun. Or good quality food, skincare etc.

What are you thoughts about this and do you have anything you don't think twice about spending on even if you are in geenral living a frugal lifestyle?

Push gas mowers or robotic mowers?

Wanna buy a mower for my new house this PD, but I’m stuck between a push gas mower and a robotic mower. I used the former at my parents’ house since I was a teen, so I know the basic maintenance and small fixes well. It’s usually cheaper though. But robotic mowers sound nice cuz I wouldn’t have to mow outside this summer. There would be discounts during PD, so i’m looking at Navimow X430 and Mammotion LUBA2 AWD 3000 now. Both look good on paper, but I’m not sure what everyday use is like. For robotic mower owners, how hard was it to get started? Was setup annoying, and does it follow the schedule and mowing areas accurately?

Looking for a nugget ice maker under $300

I’m currently living in a student apartment with a shared kitchen, and the freezer ice maker never really keeps up with everyone using it. I’d rather have my own small countertop unit instead of constantly waiting for the shared one to refill.

I’m mainly looking for a nugget ice maker under $300. I could go a little over budget if it’s noticeably more reliable. Self-cleaning would be a big plus since I don’t want something that becomes gross or annoying to maintain in a small apartment .

I only need it to last around 3-4 years while I’m living here. After that, I’ll probably be moving and don’t really plan to take it with me, so I’m not trying to buy the most expensive machine out there .

What should I look for? Are there brands or features that hold up better, or anything I should avoid?

What’s the best carry on luggage you’ve actually used?

I think I’ve reached the point where I’m done buying random cheap carry ons that either lose a wheel, stop zipping properly, or somehow end up being “carry on size” everywhere except the airline I’m flying.

I travel a few times a year and I want something that actually rolls well, fits overhead bins without playing luggage roulette, and doesn’t get destroyed after two trips. I don’t care if it’s hard shell or soft shell as long as it’s practical and doesn’t weigh a ton before I even pack.

I also keep seeing people swear that spending more once is cheaper than replacing luggage every year, but I can’t tell if that’s true or if people are just defending expensive purchases.

For people who travel regularly, what carry on ended up being worth it? Anything you bought expecting to love and ended up regretting?

Best online mattress with good warranty and actual real customer service?

I want to buy a new mattress and considering how different companies handle warranty claims and customer support after the sale, I would like to know which brand/s have really really good after sales service. We never really know what could happen so I would prefer if customer service is guaranteed. Things like response times, return policies, how easy it is to reach a real person (not auto replies and definitely not AI agents), etc

Best safe to buy?

Hello, I’m looking at buying a safe that has anywhere from 3.0cu ft +. I’ve been looking online at different reviews and all have bad ones on the few questions I have about them. This is my first time buying a safe. Mostly for locking up valuables and important documents.

  1. Best anti-humidity safes. I’m going to be storing my safe in my outdoor shed. I don’t want my safe to start gathering moisture and ruining my paper documents.

  2. Equipment failure. Most of the ones I’ve seen have their handles snap, become loose, etc. if I’m spending hundreds of dollars on a safe, then I would like it to last a great deal of time.

  3. Shelving. I’ve seen ones that have no shelving, 1-2 shelves, and containers that slide in and out. I would like one that have 2-3 shelves for a more organized space.

  4. Security. I’ve seen ones that come in biometric, pin pad, dial, and just key. I’m looking for one that has a pin-pad and a key for an additional entry point.

If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know.

Thanks.
