Canal Barge Plans
Hello All, first-time poster here. I am a grad student in Maritime History and Archaeology at East Carolina University. As part of my thesis, I am modeling an iron-hulled canal barge, John F. Winslow, built by H.R. Dunham in NYC in 1845 and converted to a wooden-hulled Union gunboat in 1861. I have been having difficulty finding good-quality barge plans that I can upload into the modeling software to trace the lines of. I have reached out to the Erie Canal Museum, Hudson River Maritime Museum, Mariner's Museum, and others, and have not had a lot of luck. While iron-hulled plans would be great, I am also looking for wooden-hulled plans that can be adapted. If anyone knows of any other sites or repositories that might be useful, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
