Are we buying too many features instead of better cars?

I've been thinking about this lately.

Modern cars have become incredibly feature-packed: huge touchscreens, sunroofs, ambient lighting, connected-car tech, 360° cameras, ventilated seats, ADAS, wireless charging, etc.

Some of these are genuinely useful. But I'm wondering where the line is.

If you had to choose between:

A) A car with fewer features but better reliability, easier maintenance, good driving dynamics and fewer things that can go wrong

B) A car with more features, better cabin experience and more technology

Which would you pick?

Personally, I think I'd rather have physical controls, a good AC, reliable electronics, good visibility, solid safety and a decent infotainment system than 15 different features I might barely use.

Also curious: which feature in your current car sounded great when you bought it but you almost never use now?

Would love to hear from owners.

IS THIS DEVICE PRACTICAL AND RELIABLE ?? [OC]

After installing dashcam without any hardwire kit or obd2 kit i was facing the issue of my 12 volt socket always being occupied which somewhat bothered me
so i tried searching for any solution and then saw this device on amazon which provides 2 sockets

my main use is for dashcam and for other port i think i will be adding some footwell lights or some other accessory if it works well using 12volt port
if anyone of you had any experience with it can you tell me if it a practical and reliable option and will it provide adequate voltage to both ports

7 Car Accessories That Are Actually Useful

🚗🏍️

Not every car accessory needs to be flashy. Some simple products can genuinely make daily driving easier.

1. Tyre inflator A compact inflator is useful for checking and topping up tyre pressure at home or during a trip.

2. Tyre pressure gauge Even with an inflator, having an accurate pressure reading is useful for maintaining the correct pressure.

3. Microfiber cleaning towels Cheap, reusable and much safer for paint and interiors than random household cloths.

4. Car vacuum cleaner Particularly useful if you regularly carry children, pets or eat inside the car.

5. Emergency torch A small rechargeable torch can be surprisingly useful during a breakdown or when checking something under the bonnet at night.

6. Phone holder A properly mounted holder makes navigation easier without having to keep the phone in your hand.

7. Basic emergency kit Puncture repair equipment, jumper cables, gloves and a few basic tools can be more valuable than decorative accessories.

What I would skip

I'd think twice before buying accessories that simply add clutter, block visibility or plug into every available USB port without providing much benefit.

The best car accessories are the ones you actually use regularly.

What's one car accessory you bought that turned out to be genuinely useful?

My happiness is immeasurable... my day is made... I got my dad a car

This bicycle was more than just two wheels for my dad. It was how he took me to school, and how he went to work for years. through blazing heat, pouring rain, and everything in between.

That cycle carried groceries, dreams, burdens and most of all, love.

Today, after saving for a few years (and still managing to spend lavishly on junk food haha), I finally bought him a car. Yes, it’s second-hand. But it's a first car for my bloodline. It’s his. From me. With love. As a small retirement gift for a man who gave me everything and never asked for anything.
