2026 Cherry Festival parade

Another one for the books. One of the longest in my recollection!

Hats off to council women Bowen and BART D4 Raburn for walking/biking the course and reaching out to their constituents. The rest were safely enclosed in steel box while waving to their peons.

Wonderful to see kids enjoying route and all the performance troupe. Big props for the purple dance group continuing to perform as the congestion slowed parade to a standstill … likely because of the car traffic.

Maybe next year we stop the irony of closing a street once a year to only having a parade of cars.

Average new car price is $49,000. At what point does this stop making sense?

The average new car price is now around $49,000 in the U.S. and honestly… how is that normal?

That’s just the purchase price too. Once you factor in interest, insurance, maintenance, and everything else, the real monthly cost gets way higher than people expect.

Are people still buying new at these prices, or just finding ways to work around it?

Bay Area Transit Agencies Saved $1 Billion Since 2020

"The state-required financial efficiency review report, released Friday, credits the operating cost savings to temporary service reductions, wage and hiring freezes and scaling back or deferring new projects. For BART, that meant $516 million in savings, for SFMTA, nearly $300 million, for AC transit, $200 million and for Caltrain, $76 million."
