Who would you want to stay clear of in town?

Not trying to be funny or anything I genuinely want to know.

I know of Eddie Dundon although I wouldn't be too scared of him.

Help please!

Hey guys. My partner is moving to Carlow in just a few weeks to study. He’s feeling a lot of pressure and I’m trying to do whatever I can to alleviate some of that for him and I know a big worry is money and how he’s going to pay for accomodation. We’ve looked into all the options and it’s looking like the best one would be to get a job.

I’m wondering if anybody would have ideas or recommendations about where he could work? Part time so maybe weekends or a couple of evenings.

He has skills in kitchen portering, varieties of food and drink preparation including gelato, coffee, etc and a good while in a manager/supervisor position.

Any help or advice at all would be appreciated. Thanks!

Crime against humanity at Oak Park yesterday

Took our dog for a lovely evening stroll in the park yesterday and were just on the final leg of the loop walk, when we were hit with the foulest, most rancid stench I've ever had the misfortune of inhaling. Genuinely thought a sewage line had burst.

Coming up to the jungle gym area, we saw a tractor driving up and down just over the hedge. I mean, we live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by farm fields, cattle, sheep etc, so definitely used to farming smells and the aul slurry being spread. (Also nothing against farmers, keep up the good work!) But jaysus, fuck me, the putrid smell yesterday was something else. We couldn't have gotten out of there fast enough. Saw a family quickly pack up their picnic and bolt out of the park too...

Anyone else traumatised by the rank stench at the park?

Edit: mixing up my slurry with silage!

Worst estate in carlow?

Lived here my entire life and I've lived in a Council estate for all my life too (and somehow turned out to not become a junkie)

What estates should I avoid moving into when I get the funds to move out of this kip of an estate?

There was something special about an ice cream from News World in Carlow — a little taste of childhood that you never quite forget. 🍦 On a sunny day, nothing beat stopping in for a cone

Are the people of Carlow the nicest people ever?

Had my hen in Carlow this weekend, from Cork. I have never been to Carlow, had no idea what to expect. From the minute we arrived at the hotel (shout out to Seven Oaks) everyone we met could not be nicer. Like, everyone in the hotel couldn't do enough for us. While walking into the town last night, people stopped me to wish me well, cars slowed down to shout out congrats etc. People in the bars were lovely.

Theres no point to this post. But, to the people of Carlow - ye are class.

Childcare cost?

Looking at crèche/childminder options and trying to figure out what the going rate is.

What are ye paying monthly, how many days a week, and roughly what is it after NCS?

Trying to figure out if I should double the mortgage payment in the budget or just start renting a room or selling feet pics now.

Where to camp for a night?

Husband and I want to camp for a night nearby. We don't want a campsite as such, as we may not even stay the whole night. We're looking for somewhere to stargaze, maybe camp (no fires) with a tent or van and a couple camping chairs and drive max 35 minutes back home.

Is there anywhere in Carlow or nearish by that anyone could recommend?

Has anyone noticed that lad going around town the last couple of days?

Middle aged, button shirt thats half open and shorts. He keeps stopping people and trying to talk to them. Sometimes he'll have a can of lager in his hand and a bag.

It's not eddie dundon, this lad is taller and bigger.

A power outage occurred at around 4:30pm today at the Pollerton area of Carlow Town, possibly due to repairs being made that was caused by a fault nearby. It is expected that electricity should be restored by 5:30pm.
