i heard that it got hacked, so I want to know which one is safe.

I had EmuDeck downloaded for a while and I don’t think I ever downloaded/updated Cemu at any point but I definitely never played anything through it. I also factory reset my Deck around the 12th even before I found out about the malware.

Am I in the clear?

Started emulating BOTW on cemu, found some settings i enjoyed/turned on (Enhancements, Graphics, Grass Swaying, Shadows for Intel, FPS++ set at 144 as i have a 144hz monitor and Xbox Controller Button Layout) and the fps is comfortably hitting above 100 the first few minutes of playtime but as time goes on the fps "buffers" kind of. Its like the game slows down for fractions of a second before going back to normal, and then shortly after slowing down again in intervals. I have no idea what causes this and its really hard to explain as its not the game really "pausing" or stuttering and more so just very sudden fps drops every 3 or 4 seconds maybe. I can provide a video if my shit explanation of the issue wasnt good enough lol (oh yeah im playing vulkan, have triple buffering turned on and have a AMD GPU if thats any help).

My other question was, is it pointless to have re-imaged to then sign in to then block an IP address on desktop?

Recently, I wanted to play Zelda BOTW on CEMU.

But there's a problem. I have no controller compatible...

So, I installed VJoy device. It's working but only on the version 1.17.3 of Cemu. I managed to make it work BUT (again) there's no enhancement compatible with 1.17.3, so instead of enjoying the joy of high fps, I lag since the FPS++ enhancement is not available.

Any advice or solutions ?

Maybe a new Vjoy? Or a additional enhancement pack?

Sorry for the stupid question. I am a Steam Deck user, If my Cemu.AppImage file properties shows created oct 9 2025 and modified oct 9 2025 but accessed may 18 2026 am I compromised? The hash is the correct one.

Hello folks. I've been playing BOTW via Cemu on my PC, and this game has absolutely captivated me. I have always counted out Emulators because the graphics on triple A PC games are superior in every way. The last game I enjoyed was Expedition 33, which was nearly a year ago. I have been in search of something for the past year, but I can't get into anything for more than an hour without getting bored.

Fast forward this week, I don't know how I decided to get into Breath of the Wild, but I set up the game and played it for an hour. I didn't think it was particularly special until it occurred to me that I had crossed that one hour mark without getting bored. I am only 6 hours into the game at the moment, but I can tell already that this game is truly special.

One of my favorite things about this game is that it allows me to explore my curiosities. For example, I couldn't help myself when I was on the path to Kakariko Village, and I kept diverting my attention to look for little camps to loot. At one point, I somehow wandered to an area that hasn't been charted on my map yet 😂

The performance is really good, and I've had a couple of hiccups where the game would randomly become sub 10 FPS for a moment, before it goes back to normal. I'm currently running the game at 4K, capped at 90 FPS. I have a 1440P monitor, but rendering it at a higher resolution and downscaling it helped with some jagginess in the anti-aliasing for me. I also downloaded the shaders online, which must have worked because I had such a great and consistent experience throughout my playthrough so far. I should also add that my specs are 7950X3D and 4070 Ti Super, so it is no slouch to begin with.

Last weekend I switched my gaming pc from windows 11 to bazzite. I downloaded and installed emudeck on 5/8. I didn’t bother to uncheck a couple of the emulators that were being downloaded and Cemu was one of them. I’ve never opened Cemu before or tried emulating Wii U games. But I was able to confirm that the Cemu.appimage on my pc matched the infected sha256. I never ran Cemu and I reinstalled my OS and the files were wiped. I guess I’m more worried this PCs hard drive and my steam decks microSD card that I’ve been moving back and forth between devices while I was trying to set up all my emulators. Are all my devices at risk because of this?

Hello fellow Cemu Redditors, I wanted to make everyone aware of a malware issue. The following message is directly from the Cemu developers. I am not a dev, I am relaying the message along with the link for the original PSA.

SECURITY PSA - For Cemu emulator 2.6
It has come to our attention that from 6th May to today (12th May) the AppImage and Ubuntu zip assets of Cemu 2.6 on our github were compromised by a pro-Russian threat actor.
If you are a Windows or MacOS user you are not affected. If you are a flatpak user you are also not affected.

The compromised releases are:

Cemu-2.6-x86_64.AppImage
cemu-2.6-ubuntu-22.04-x64.zip

Only if you have downloaded these between 6th May and 12th May from our github page. This also affects third party launchers which usually directly download from our repository. As of writing this, the compromised releases have been restored to their good version.

1. How do I know if I am affected?
There are currently no known reliable traces that you can check for, but you should assume you are affected if you downloaded and ran either Cemu-2.6-x86_64.AppImage or cemu-2.6-ubuntu-22.04-x64.zipbetween 6th May and 12th May. The malware has a special exception where it does bypass the harmful code on the first run, so the risk of damage is lower if you only ran compromised Cemu builds once. If your locale is Russian then the malware does nothing.
The following files and directories may be created by the malware:
/tmp/.transformers
/usr/bin/pgmonitor.py
~/.local/bin/pgmonitor.py
/etc/systemd/system/pgsql-monitor.service
~/.config/systemd/user/pgsql-monitor.service
/tmp/kubectl
The absence of these files does not prove that you are safe.

2. What can I do if I am affected?
The blunt answer is that we don't know the full capabilities of the malware. The safest bet is to do a clean install of your OS.
At the very minimum you should delete the affected binaries and reset all your passwords, GitHub tokens, SSH keys or anything that is used to authenticate with services. The malware contains a pretty sophisticated password stealer for many services. Most of them are related to programming or cloud providers in some way. We think this is to help the malware authors to further infect other software.
You should also block IP 83.142.209.194 (even if you are not affected) because this is used as a hardcoded remote endpoint.
We will update this document as more information becomes available.

Special note for Israeli users:
If the malware determines that your location is Israel (it does this via locale and timezone checks) then it has a 1:6 chance that it will play a loud siren sound and run rm -rf /, essentially attempting to wipe your filesystem. This is bad, but since rm does not actively overwrite the file data, you should be able to recover your data with some effort. But this is only true as long as you don't write new data to the affected drive(s).
Do not reinstall your OS to the same drive or format it until you have attempted a file recovery first. The exact steps for this go beyond the scope of this PSA, but if you need help feel free to DM me on Discord (Exzap) or shoot me a message on reddit (u/Exzap).

3. How did this happen?
We are still tracking the exact chain of events down but the leading theory is that a collaborator on our team ran a compromised python package which stole his GitHub token. This was then used to reupload a compromised version of the two linux binaries in the v2.6 (latest) release of Cemu. We have taken measures to prevent this from happening in the future.

I’m seeing a few posts about the malware but no one seems to have any information regarding the cemu.sh file my Wii U game seems to run from that emudeck provided to me. I have no appimage file, I haven’t downloaded it in months and the last time I played was over a month ago. Would I be infected? I feel crazy being seemingly the only person that is running my Cemu games from the emudeck cemu.sh file so not having the info is stressing me out. Would appreciate any help.

Was waiting to use this setup, but run into unforeseen curcumstances and yeah ive thus far been unable to get it working.

The recent AppImage version of Cemu is unsafe. Running it will play a loud siren noise (if you have an Israeli IP) and steal your passwords. How will this be solved and what will be done to prevent this from happening again?

Anytime I'm playing Skylanders and decide to enter full screen mode, cemu freezes. Tried other methods like reinstalling cemu, deleting the shader cache and always having to restart my PC if anytime I try to test going into full screen mode?
