Personally, the worst thing about the ending is that my interest in Chainsaw Man is going to fade to the point where I’ll barely feel anything toward the series anymore. That happened to me with Aot, and I know it’s going to happen with Csm too.

Yeah, I still think Part 1 is really good on its own, but what was the point of all that? Just for everything to get erased and for the characters to forget everything that happened? Like, how am I supposed to still feel anything for characters like Aki and Reze when they’re basically nobodies now and it’s practically as if they never even existed?

Anyway, I’ll probably stay in the Chainsaw Man fandom for a little while longer, but nothing major. Maybe I’ll watch the rest of Part 1 when it gets animated (I’m definitely not watching Part 2), and then goodbye Chainsaw Man. I’ll definitely be completely fed up with this franchise and its fandom by then.

The most humiliated character in history vs The most humiliated character of today.

And mind you, Homelander was humiliating himself because he was desperate for his life, while Denji humiliated himself just because he thought Fumiko was “cute.”

Well, I guess the “curse” was broken since Denji doesn’t even know who Reze is anymore and no longer carries the "weight" of not ending up with her.

Fujimoto is genuinely fascinating. He deliberately ruined the series that made him famous, ran for years, and was followed by millions of people around the world, by making its entire story meaningless (in his own words) just because he wanted to copy a comedy movie that’s less than two hours long

Drunk idea: Did the Dutch people eat a devil?

Yes, there is a famous historical fact for you. In 1672 when the country was being ravaged by famine and war, the unhappy Dutch people stormed the parlement, captured their Prime Minister Johan de Witt and ate him in a political frenzy.

However, in the world of Chainsaw Man could it be that the people found out he was a devil (maybe one of the four horsemen) and that's why they ate him in hopes to solve their crisis like how Pochita eats devils.

I had been drinking when I came up with this, so there's your answer.

A lot of people wonder what the point of Part 2 even was, but Fujimoto already answered that: the point of Part 2 was simply to show how much being a hero sucks and to be a “deconstruction” of the superhero genre.

Thinking about it, Fujimoto really must not like the “romanticization” of superheroes if he felt the need to make Part 2 even though Denji’s character already had a pretty solid conclusion in Part 1. Part 2 was basically nothing more than a humiliation ritual for Denji just to show that being a hero “isn’t a good thing.”

I even wonder how much Fujimoto actually enjoyed making Part 1, because Part 2 feels like a parody/deconstruction of it too. Back then, Denji falling down and getting back up again was portrayed as something admirable. Hell, the ending of Part 1 is literally Denji defeating and killing the devil that represents control, the devil who manipulated him and ruined his life, when before he was completely under her thumb. On top of that, he took responsibility for raising her reincarnation so she wouldn’t end up becoming evil again by giving her love and affection.

If you ask me, those “heroic” actions are genuinely admirable and even inspiring, but I guess I must’ve interpreted it wrong. Apparently Denji freeing himself from Makima’s chains, killing her, and taking care of her reincarnation so she wouldn’t go down the same path was actually supposed to be viewed as something sad and pitiful.

Also: I think it’s funny that Fujimoto said “the most correct type of ending for a hero story is to quit being a hero” when it was Pochita who basically made that decision for Denji and forced him to stop being Chainsaw Man.

I remember people coping by saying that what Pochita told Denji was just a devil’s warped view of him, even though Fujimoto himself clearly agrees 100% with what he said.

Yoru is such a failure of an antagonist that it’s actually hilarious. She’s alive now and more powerful than ever with the return of the Nuke Devil and the World War II Devil, plus the likely power boost for the Gun Devil and Tank Devil, but literally NOBODY cares.
