Last season was questionable, so I wasn't even into it on an emotional investment front. But this season, damn we could have done better.
When all other teams were showing intent in power play, we were playing test and on some cases odi knocks, thanks to our great captain, who has a 60% ish loss % as the captain of csk. When number 3 and number 4 are scoring at 175+, idk why rutu plans to open with a 121 strike rate.
And this game. Damn this game. The pitch was slow. The pitch was holding. The pitch was turning a bit. And just 7 overs of spinners. Holding back akeal when he was giving 7ish an over. Throwing the ball to dube when he was mind blowing with his bowling this season. Swapping out Karthik Sharma instead of dube who can't even catch a ball thrown to him. Not giving an over to veer. Not discussing with bowlers, not even as much as sanju was doing. Damn we could have done much much better in this.
And 15 off 21 and 26 off 23 with two boundaries off edges. When two of the three experienced players in the team play this way, not sure what as fans we are expected to hope on.
And rutu. There are only two proper batsman in the team. You and sanju. If both open and in a format where the % of openers staying till the end is extremely low, you're giving the mantle to inexperienced players to solidify the innings. Ideally, rutu should bat at 2 down with a slogger like urvil or sarfaraz to open and karthik as a one down.
Hope csk reflects and changes their perspective. It was good moving from a typical, daddy army strategy to one that believes in youngsters. But the person at the helm needs to make decisions to play winning knocks.
Utterly disappointed by the last few games. Csk could do better.
