Hey Everyone,

Thought about posting here giving, I've just moved from LA and I'm in the search for people to play music with and make some friends along the way. I'm a bass player, but I pick up the guitar a couple of years ago, and I do honestly enjoy both, I can also sing a little, but I'm working on that last one a bit more.

To give a sense of the music I'm into... it's honestly all over the place.. top spotify artist are Blink 182, Metallica, John Mayer, Red Hot Chilli Peppers... In the past I've been in a couple of bands, the first one we played all that 80 - 90 rock (Queen, Guns N' Roses) and then I was in a Pop Band (Bruno Mars, Coldplay..), so honestly I just really enjoy playing in general. Lately, I've getting into blues music as well so that's something I'm looking forward to play more.

I live in the Streeterville area, and I have a full time office job, so it's a hobby for sure! But feel free to DM me and see what could come up, looking forward to it!

I’m a male tenor looking for opportunities to sing with others or in a band. I’m well trained and my favorite thing is to use my voice. It can expand to many genres outside of hip hop and metal. Been trying to use my voice in the theater/comedy scene here and have gotten solid gigs but they haven’t been as challenging as I’d like. I have limited guitar skills as well. Hi everyone! I’ve been singing since I was eight, starting with Farsi pop, and I’ve since grown into jazz and ballads as well, think Adele’s “Skyfall”or Sam Smith. I’ve had about three years of classical voice training and recently did my first live performance, so I’m still fairly new to performing, though singing itself has been part of my life for a long time. Sight reading is something I’m working towards.

I’d love to meet people nearby who want to practice together and build some real musical friendships along the way. I’m also genuinely interested in exploring Middle Eastern music (Arabic, Turkish, Farsi) with anyone who enjoys it, alongside more familiar English pop and jazz.

If you play guitar, piano, or bass, and looking to practice towards a small open mic performance – this could be the thing.

There’s no pressure and nothing formal to start. My rough idea is:

Share a few recordings back and forth to get a feel for each other’s style

Pick a song or two and practice on our own for a bit at first

meet up in person, maybe in someone’s living room, to sing and play together

If it feels right, work toward performing at an open mic together down the line

All levels are welcome, especially if you’re a beginner or just haven’t played with others in a while. This is really about building community and connection through music, as much as it is about the music itself.

I technically refer to my sub genre as ShadeHop due to the mixture of styles but Trip Hop is the foundation for the music anyway so yeah.

Hi Chicago! I’m bringing an original music and storytelling project to the city on October 17 and would love some local advice.

I’ve previously done shows in Austin, LA, and San Francisco. For Chicago, I’m hoping for a cozy fall feel with live jazz and an intimate setting.

What venues, coffee shops, lounges, galleries, or creative spaces would you recommend for something like this? I’d also love recommendations for where Chicago jazz musicians connect, especially drummers and guitarists. Looking to hire a guitarist and drummer at least.

The project combines original music with an animated series I’m creating about three women pursuing their artistic dreams in the big city. The audience is typically 25 to 40 and interested in live music, art, storytelling, and creativity.

Any Chicago-specific recommendations or communities I should check out? 🍂🎷
