im just now back to genshin since yeaaars, the current character banner and the new characters coming up, are there any that are theorized to work well with childe? and is it clever to pull at the banners rn??

i’m a returning player (last played: inazuma), i was wondering if pulling odette would be beneficial? i used to have a freeze team with childe-rosaria-kazuha-zhongli

In the recent AQ, Childe mentioned his parents while talking with Tonia.

That made me think...when it comes to his family, he only really talks about his younger brothers and sisters. He never really speaks too much about his parents or older brothers/sisters.

What do you think their relationship is like? Are they weary of him due to what happened after his return from the abyss?

I know a lot of people are really happy about Childe becoming a councilor, and I do get why. Capitano trusting him enough to leave his men under his responsibility is really sweet, especially considering Childe apparently didn't even know Capitano thought that highly of him.

But at the same time... I keep thinking: did Ajax actually want any of this?

Not “is he capable of doing it?” because obviously he is. I mean, is this actually something he would've chosen for himself? Is he happy with this being his life now?

Because Childe was already insanely busy before. Being a Harbinger already kept him away from his family a lot, and now he basically has two jobs. His siblings already barely got to see him, and they're pretty much the love of his life, so knowing he's somehow even busier now just makes me kind of sad.

And the Capitano part is really bittersweet to me too. Because yes, him putting that much trust in Childe is really beautiful and shows how highly he thought of him, but he also basically went off to die after leaving this massive responsibility in his hands.

I'm sure he technically could've said no, but... let's be serious. Would he?

Someone he respected died trusting him to take care of these people. Even if he didn't want that responsibility, I really can't imagine him refusing it.

So now he's been put into a position where he has to mature. He has even more people depending on him, his actions affect more than just himself, and he can't necessarily act as freely as he did before.

And that's the part that bothers me a little when I see people treat it as purely “look how much he's grown!!”

Because being capable of carrying a responsibility doesn't necessarily mean you wanted it.

Maybe he loves being a councilor. Maybe this is genuinely fulfilling for him. I don't know.

But I don't think we've actually been shown that yet.

We've been shown that Capitano trusted him, that Childe accepted the responsibility, and that he's capable of doing it.

I just kind of wish someone would ask Ajax if this is actually what he wanted.

Especially because I don't think Genshin is incapable of portraying that. The question is, will it?
