Crate or bed?

Do your cresties prefer to sleep in a crate or in the bed with owners?

If you crate, what does it look like? Toys or no? Our boy is easily distracted. Not sure what to include in there for maximum comfort other than his bed and blankets?

We put natural digestible chew toys in there when we have to leave for a couple hours during the day. But idk if that would be beneficial for sleep time? What do you think?

Hairless pup legs scratched up

I’m new to owning a hairless pet so it breaks my heart to see my sweet baby with a fresh scratch nearly every day. They are usually on the inside of his front paws and I’m starting to think it happens when he gets the zoomies, the back claws scratching the front. He runs like a greyhound racer, the back legs meeting the front, if that makes sense.

So I guess my question— Is this normal? And do hairless crested scratch easily?

His nails are cut but it is taking longer to get him used to/trained to handle the dremel. Idk. I just feel so bad.

Sunbathing in a heatwave

Weather is never hot enough for a Chinese Crested. They may shock you by randomly deciding to lie down on in the sun on the hot rocks, in 34°C in the shade, while you sit inside, moving as little as possible, trying not to overheat. People say dogs should not be walked if it's 24°C or higher outside. Being a Chinese Crested owner feels like living in a whole different world from all the rest of dog owners. But where is the limit?

Sunny Scratched

Is that time of the year, where he just wants to roll on the rug and enjoy the sun 🥰

Edit: meant to type "sunny scratches"

Considering Adopting A Powderpuff

A friend of mine is fostering a very sweet, super calm 6-month old powderpuff girl rescue and I met her for the first time today and we fell a bit in love. I've never had a dog before, but have always had cats, and currently have two 2-year-old rescue cats who are very independent but also very sweet. After my previous cat died I had been considering a small dog, since I would love to have a companion animal that could accompany me into the world, but ended up rescuing these two, and they aren't suited to being out in the world.

Realistically, as someone who's never had a dog before, would this be a good breed to consider starting with? What kind of care does this breed require? I've read a bit about grooming needs, and I live rurally and have a yard that could be fenced, so grooming is currently my biggest concern, but would love to know what other things I need to consider are? She has lived with cats, and the cats were fostered with dogs but still a little wary of them.

Weird question from 1st time crested parent

Do hairless pups just feel more baby-like because they’re soft like a bony infant? It’s a question my husband and I keep asking ourselves. Lol. We kiss our 17wk puppy way more than we have ever kissed our previous dogs and other pup— and don’t get me wrong, all of our dogs are well loved and we have a sweet baby angel shihtzu that is adored beyond words but do we wake up and blow raspberries into her neck? No.

It’s a silly question but I am honestly curious if there is some weird correlation between small & hairless and our human instinct around babies. 🤭

Got his hair dyed while at the groomers

She dyed his Mohawk and the bit of fur on his paws! Coincidently they matched my dress I was wearing.

Can someone help me find a recent commercial with a Chinese Crested??

I SWEAR I very recently, within the last two weeks saw an ad with a Chinese Crested. I want to say it was for Gemini or Copilot or another ai tool but I've had no luck googling ai ads with cresties.

For more details, I believe I recall very wealthy old woman was holding the crestie and they or just the dog got into a luxury car. That's all the details I can remember from the ad.

If anyone else has seen it, lmk!! Thanks!

My little guy ♥️

He was my bestest little man.... a true Mama's boy! Got me through some of the toughest times! Today was his gotcha day! I was his 3rd owner, I got him just about a month after he turned 4. We were inseparable for 13 1/2 years, before he crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge. I miss my sweet boy!

Is this normal?

My little girl (Apple) runs everywhere like a little deer frolicking. I don’t even think she KNOWS how to run normally. Every time she runs no matter the surface she’s running on she’ll deer hop. Does anyone else’s crested do this? Or is mine just an odd ball
