Dream Show Composer

If you could have any artist compose for a Cirque show who would you choose?

There have been some great composers including M83, Danny Elfman and Nick Littlemore (Empire of the Sun).

My first choice is David Holmes, best know for doing the soundtracks to the Ocean's Trilogy. His jazzy, electic, retro style could be very cool in a theatrical setting.

Who would you choose?

Luzia in Toronto impression

I am from a third-world country. I've been in Canada for more than a decade.

Yesterday, I saw my first Cirque du Soleil show ever with my 9-year-old. I was excited; he was apprehensive. He's not into circus shows he said. He doesn't want to see funny/silly/weird costumes, clowns, magic tricks, loud noises, and other more complaints I don't remember anymore.

So anyway, as I said I was excited, looking forward to my first ever Cirque du Soleil show.

And, I was underwhelmed.

I expected...more, I guess.

To me, it looked like a show by my university's students back in my country. I also took Fine Arts in university btw. But yeah, reminded me of a school play. I thought it would be more world class than that. I still remember my first circus show when I was a kid, it had dolphins.

Anyway, I wasn't moved. I wasn't impressed. Am I spoiled? Is it because we're exposed to these things on the internet?

I mean, yeah, I like that horse puppet. I like those hoolahoop ladies. I like the swings. Most impressed by that lady dangling from her hair/head. That boneless guy, omg. And most of all, the rope guy, the only part of the show that used that water feature. I was expecting more water feature after that, but the show only has one? Why? Also, I didn't really watch any videos nor ads before the show so as not to spoil ourselves. Oh, I especially liked the tuba music during the juggling scene. I found the entire soundtrack on youtube. And that lady, was she actually singing? If yes, cool. But where's the trapeze? Other acrobatics stuff?

My son found the costumes ok and not really weird, it was as expected. No clowns but a bit of clowning, which he didn't understand much, he needs social cues. He likes the juggling. No magicians though. My son also didn't really understand what's happening for most of the time. He had questions, like what's the purpose of the other people in certain scenes? Are they supposed to be there or just distractions or space fillers? Why are they frozen near the end? Is there a story to this?

Again, I wasn't moved nor impressed, expected more from a world-class circus act. Was it worth the price? I don't think so. Still very grateful to have experienced Cirque du Soleil, nevertheless.

Cancelled Aug 12 Toronto Show

Does anyone happen to have information about why they canceled last nights show in Toronto (after having us wait for 1.5 hours)? I assumed it was weather at first but then they so cancelled despite the weather being completely fine so I’m just very curious what it was.

Alegria Last Show in Antwerp

A few months ago, I found a Youtube channel called CirqueArchives that posted Cirque du soleil related videos. The creator of it also had a website on wich you could find lots of recorded shows such as Alegria.

However, it was suddenly deleted for unknown reasons.

This is why I would like to know if anybody can tell me where I could find the recorded version of Alegria's last performance in Antwerp Belgium on december 29th 2013.

I watched it on that same website but can't find it anymore, it was filmed by the company itself.

IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET THAT VIDEO WITHOUT CONTACTING THE OWNER OF THE WEBSITE ?

Ticket pricing - luzia Toronto

Update - I gave the kids the option of going to the cirque, full VIP at Medieval Times, or a full day in downtown Toronto via subway from Vaughan (we are northerners so this is a big deal), ended by a solid night at Dave and Busters.

They chose heading to Toronto and Dave and Busters.
We had an amazing time, did a bunch of fun things and they had 3 solid hours of play at Dave and Busters. I spent over what I would have paid for the Cirque Show but we had a full day. Worth every penny!
Maybe I’ll catch a show another time but I felt like it wasn’t meant to be on this trip.

I’m so discouraged at the price of tickets for the luzia show in Toronto. The best ticket pricing I could get for 1 adult and 3 children is over $400! Just insane.
I shouldn’t have promised my kids that we would go. I’m not the type of parent to back down on my word but it hurts lol

The 1.5 hr show is costing me more than 2 nights of hotel accommodations.

Disappointing for sure
