Luckiest night of my life!
Was lucky enough to get one of the two autographs tonight! I’ve never gotten front+center at a concert before or gotten anything signed. I’m so happy it was Anri and this record. Last Summer Whisper has always calmed my soul during tough times.
I hope tomorrow’s show is as magical as this one was. What an amazing band and performance by Anri.
Emotions at the ANRI concert at the Wiltern tonight
I was overwhelmed with an emotional sense of feelings. I started crying when she was performing all her songs. I just never thought I would get to see her in person. She is my hero, and her music means a lot to me. I hope ANRI-san's music brings inspiration to others besides me! :)

ANRI! LIVE! Concert 0520/26
Did everyone have a good time?
I know I did.
Best show and luckiest show!
I was the first out of the 2 people to get their vinyls signed tonight! Wish I had a newer black marker but still! I was so shocked and happy! The show was amazing despite it being really hot 😭
Thank you so much Anri! I love you!!
Anri 5/20 - Amazing show!
Such a great show! I can’t believe I finally got to see her in concert and she’s just as good as she was on the album back in the 80s!! The band’s sound was tight and it was just perfection 👌🏽😌
Anri on being rediscovered by younger fans during city pop’s global rise (Japan Times)
japantimes.co.jpHey guys I heard someone named Anri was touring? I haven't seen a single post about her concerts so I though I would let people know. I guess she's good?
Too bad I had no idea this was going on....Seriously though can we do like a sticky or a tag for the next one of these events? I love me some Anri but good lord.

Sorry about the phone quality.
Tips for attending Anri's concert @ Wiltern?
This may sound lame, but I've never really been to a concert like this before and would like some input on those who have gone.
From what I have been able to read up on, it seems like the pit and GA are all standing and it is basically first come first serve.
The loge and mezzanine are seated.
I kind of just want to sit, relax and chill, so seems like loge might be the way to go.
Also, it seems like the only/main way to get something signed is to wait long after the show has ended and hope to catch her coming out and she signs your item. My question to this is how are people carrying their records so that it doesn't get damaged during the show haha.
I've also read the parking lot right next to the Wiltern isn't the way to go and trying to find parking at other nearby areas is a better move?
You Buy the Grails. I Buy the Overlooked. We Are Not the Same.
Most collectors stop at one LP — Rajie's Heart to Heart, Miki Matsubara's Pocket Park, Taeko Ohnuki's Sunshower. Great albums, no argument. But there's a whole catalog hiding behind them. Worth digging in if you ask me.
I just finished this acrylic work. City lights, summer night glow. Completed in the style of City Pop artist Hiroshi Nagai.
[Mod Request] Can we get some tags?
Hey mods and other lovelies. I wanted to ask, or at least provide a post to start the conversation about getting some tags for the sub. Nothing earth shattering maybe something simple like...

I really hope that Anri's tour is going to lay some ground work for similar events to become more common and before the next big event I was hoping to ask for some tags to help sort through the posts.
I presented this idea as a shit post and unfortunately there was some confusion about the intent.
Anyone here seeing Anri tonight at The Wiltern?
So stoked to be able to get to see her since she doesn’t tour the US much. Would love to know if anyone here is going? Maybe we can meet up?
The "Stay With Me" and "It’s the Falling in Love" connection goes deeper than a similar riff
Recently I was listening to Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall and got stuck on "It's the Falling in Love", mainly because of the short instrumental interlude/riff before the verses. It sounds very close to the same kind of move in Miki Matsubara's "Stay With Me".
I googled around and quickly found that I'm definitely not the first person to hear the similarity and it's been noticed before. If you check the first 30 seconds of the original version of "It's the Falling in Love" by Carole Bayer Sager, you'll hear it sounds so similar to "Stay with Me" that it seems like a direct musical quote.
So I decided to look deeper into whether there was any connection between the two songs and then found a detail I hadn't seen discussed much in English.
So, "It's the Falling in Love" was released by Sager in 1978. A Japanese cover of this song was later recorded by Hatsumi Shibata (released on her album Hazumide Daite on August 25, 1979) and arranged by Tsugutoshi Goto and Tatsumi Yano.
Tsugutoshi Goto is the bass player on "Stay With Me".
Even more interesting, it's three musicians who recorded both "It's the Falling in Love" and "Stay With Me": Goto on bass, Masaki Matsubara on guitar and Tatsuo Hayashi on drums.

It also appears that the recording sessions for both songs were just several weeks apart. According to this article, the "Stay With Me" session took place on July 31, 1979. I couldn't find the dates of Shibata's recording sessions but the release of her album on August 25 means they were working on it several months before.
The context matters here: these musicians were working on so many records around this period that arranging and recording a song was a streamlined process. Tetsuji Hayashi, who composed and arranged "Stay With Me", has said that the brief was to write something very Western/American-pop sounding, and that arrangements were not fully written out, so the exact phrases, tones, and feel depended a lot on the musicians.
So my guess is: Hayashi wrote "Stay With Me" and brought it to the musicians. They had "It's the Falling in Love" fresh in their heads as Goto had recently worked on its arrangement, so they suggested adding a very similar interlude to the song. My suspicion is that Hayashi’s unpublished demo may not have had that exact interlude yet.
Not exactly a big revelation at the end of this city pop rabbit hole, but I thought it was curious enough to share here.
