I want to go to nlu this time, failed clat ug but llm to nlu se hi karni hai. Any suggestions?

I've been invited for the counselling session for the Joint Masters/ LL.M. in IP Law offered by NLU-D in collaboration with WIPO and CGPDTM and I’m trying to understand the practical value of the program before making such a major financial investment. And this is time sensitive since I only have 2 days for Counselling fees payment.

I had a few questions and would really appreciate honest insights from current students, alumni, lawyers, recruiters, or anyone familiar with the course:

1. Is this LL.M. recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI)?
   • Would graduates still be eligible for legal practice/academic eligibility in India without issues?
   • Has anyone faced recognition or equivalence problems?
2. How is the actual academic quality of the program?
   • Is it rigorous and genuinely useful for building expertise in IP law/policy?
   • Or is it more of a brand-name collaboration without substantial value addition?
3. How are the placement opportunities after graduation?
   • What kind of roles do students usually get into — law firms, policy, academia, corporate IP teams, consulting, etc.?
   • Are placements actively supported by the university or mostly self-driven?
   • What is the realistic salary range people should expect?
4. Considering the total cost (fees + living expenses + opportunity cost), do you think the degree is actually worth it in the Indian context?

For context: I’m interested in IP law and policy, but I also want to realistically evaluate ROI, long-term career prospects, and whether this degree materially improves opportunities in India. Also, I'm entering this field after a gap of 4-5 years due to preparation for civil services exam and would like to pursue an LL.M that is secure in terms of its validity in India and also opens up various avenues for me after completion.

Would especially appreciate responses from people who have actually studied in the program or worked with graduates from it.

I am a 2025 graduate, and have started preparing for clat pg 2027. I gave the AIET exam for llm in digital technology, policy and governance which is starting this year and got a rank within top 10. I am now confused on whether i should take admission in a new course of NLU-D ( considering NLU tag and growing relevance of course) or I should prep for clat and try to get into established LLM program. My main aim is academia and teaching. If anyone has any pointers or advice on this decision please help me out.
