If I remember correctly, the entire Claymore story happens because there are 2 major countries experimenting with monster infused warriors or something like that? Could make an interesting story there I think.
I finally ended my long hunt for the old claymore calendar! It is one of a few things that I’ve always wanted to own but has just outright eluded me. Probably because they were used, scribbled over & thrown away… but I do like quirky things. It’s in a high quality, and to my surprise I think it arrived in original packaging, too!
I’ve also grabbed two old promotional cards with claymore designs… similarly they often get used & discarded, or lost! They’re prepaid giftcards for books - mine were spent. I’m very much liking the Clare card with a pinkish background on my shelf, hehe 😊. It was originally part of a prize draw for an event. The other one is still in the post… the artwork matches one of my jump square magazines, so when it eventually arrives I have the perfect place for it!

Recently came across a cosplayer who did a Clare cosplay at the Didgori Battle Monument near Tbilisi Georgia.
I’ve never heard of this location before so it got me wondering if this amazing monument inspired Yagi for the warriors grave yard in chapters 65,66 and the cover for volume 12? It has to be right?
I assume this place also inspired Kentaro Miura’s hill of swords in Berserk.

Clarisse and Miata are definitely the characters who moved me the most in Claymore. Clarisse's sacrifice, giving her life to save Miata, truly shook me. It's a moment that will surely stay with me for a long time. Clarisse acted like a protective and loving mother to Miata, even erasing all memories of herself from Miata's mind before disappearing, to protect her from the pain of losing this loved one. Seriously, I curled up in a corner with tears in my eyes after reading that.
