I was born with left cleft palate and lip. Need revisions and surgery advice !!
Hello people,
I was born with left cleft palate and lip. Right now I am 25 and I am going through 2years of Invisalign treatment where my doctor removed my 2 premolars one from each side of my lower jaw and has retracted my lower tooth(pull back ) and advanced my upper tooth( pull up) little bit forward ( basically to correct my underbite). And after that I’m planning to get bone grafting(I have missing bone so no base for nose) then rhinoplasty and then lip revision for normal lips.
Also I need solution for nasal voice, I sound nasally? What could I do for that.
What I think:-
- 2 years on Invisalign is waist of time and money, my parents didn’t want me to go for hard surgery(maxilla advancement) so I went for this aligners bullshit.
-you can never change bone structure with orthodontics Invisalign/aligners.
- getting extracted 2 premolars from lower jaw for retraction was not good idea either because my lower jaw and teeth were perfect, I only had under bite.
- ok so now I have pulled back my lower tooth and I have advanced my upper tooth little bit forward which has corrected my bite little bit maybe but has caused my side profile look bad, lower jaw projection seems to be short now, which looks like recessed mandible. And I already have recessed maxilla because of Cleft lip and palate.
- changing aligners every 2 weeks, feeling pain every day, every week, can’t eat much and limited to food options- not worth it.
- YOU CAN ONLY LOOK GOOD when you have forward structure and forward growth, forward maxilla and forward mandible.
- aligners aligned my bite, but gave me more recessed look.
I need advice and suggestions from you people:-
- What surgeries should I opt now, I need real solutions not alternatives or copes.
- what can I do for my face structure? My lips, nose ?
- what can I do for my lip scar ? I want to eliminate it, I want clear normal skin there.
-what can I do for my smile ? My lips cover my whole tooth when I smile? Solution ?
- what can I do for my breathing? I can’t breathe properly through my left nose.
- what can I do for my nasal voice ? I think that happens because I have short soft palate( back part of palate) and I cannot speak a lot of words correctly because my hard palate is uneven( factors missing bone and stitches that left my surface uneven and plain)
-short soft palate means there is more air space at the back of my throat.
- if I advance my maxilla I would sound more nasally, which I don’t want at all, I’m already depressed and sad with present situation. Anxiety, stress, burden everyday every night just multiplies.
- would extending my soft palate will correct my nasal voice ? I want to eliminate that nasal sound.
-Also I want to look better, perfect nose, perfect lips, perfect smile and perfect voice. I’m not expecting or demanding model perfection- just expecting average performance nose, lips, smile and voice that don’t bother my life.
Real life experiences and trauma:
-No company wants to hire me as an employee. Saying it from my personal experience. Went through a lot of interviews. Applied almost 5k jobs in last 2 years. 50 interviews. ZERO offers . All rejections (Good jobs like banking, Big4s, corporate offices- not talking about poor wage jobs like Tim Hortons or uber eats)
- People ignore me, as if you’re not standing there, invisible to them.
-Growing up with zero social connections, Anxiety, stress, can’t make eye contact, wear mask at work places because people look at my lips and nose.
- Doesn’t matter how nice you are to the people or to the society. They are not to me and never will be. Harsh reality.
I hope whoever is reading this can advise and understand me. AND I will do whatever it takes.
