Hello and thank you for your time in reading my post! I am currently a freshman at CC, and I am seeking advice (particularly from successful upperclassmen) on how to study to achieve the best grades on the block plan?

I never studied in high school, meaning that when the academic environment becomes rigorous (like at CC), I have absolutely no idea on how to keep up with the intensity.

I'd like to maintain a 3.9 + GPA. Thank you for your responses

Im applying this year as a legacy ED2 (my dad went to CC). Stats:

3.9 GPA (unweighted)

My school doesn’t do weighted GPAs. All of our classes are “college prep,” which are somewhere between honors and AP, but we don’t get the weighted credit for them (Waldorf school, ifykyk)

1370 SAT — I might retake, but I’m not sure since it’s technically in range, just on the lower end

ECs:

Editor-in-chief of newspaper + publications for 3 years Poem published in a book

Started a volunteer-based camping club

Reading Olympics captain/coach for 8 years

Varsity lacrosse for 7 years, captain for 3

School ambassador (tours, admissions help, etc.)

Student government

Orchestra section leader

Paid music gigs at galas/churches

Pit orchestra for 7 years

Study abroad + fluent in German

Worked at a kindergarten and at a camp for people with special needs

~300 volunteer hours at a farm, plus volunteering at a senior center

I should also have really good recommendations. I’m currently struggling with the essays, though. Does anyone have any tips for the supplement?

Hi, I’m really interested in Colorado College, but I couldn’t find much information online about the school and I was wondering if someone could like explain it for me
I know the school runs on a block system. Where you take one class at a time but I’ve heard a lot of people talking about like how you travel a lot for the schedule. Can you explain how that works and if like the students have to to pay for the travel themselves or is that paid for by the college and like what type of classes usually have travel?

I also was wondering how the social life is at cc
Is it a big drinking school or is it a quiet in quirky environment? I prefer a school with like like parties and stuff like that like a normally traditional college. is there something like that at cc

I am also a student that is wanting to study economics and environmental science, and hopefully trying to get into a top PhD program after college is there good resources and mentorship at Colorado that will help me along this process?

I was also wondering how rigorous and hard of the classes are. I know it’s definitely gonna be hard because of the fact that you’re taking one class at a time and stuffing the material into such a short span but are the classes themselves super super difficult?

I’m also a big foodie and I love to eat how good is the campus dining hall and is there any cool traditions
