Cant run chromium apps Opera, Discord, Opera gx etc...

Hello,

I am unable to use applications like Opera, Opera GX, Blitz (a gaming app), and Discord; none of them will launch. About a month ago, I was working on projects involving "Antigravity" and virtual Chrome windows—experimenting with and modifying components like Playwright and Chromium. Immediately after doing this, applications like Discord and Opera GX stopped opening entirely. For instance, when I try to launch Opera, it opens and closes four times in rapid succession but fails to actually start. I’ve discovered through research that all these applications rely on Chromium, but despite consulting various AI tools, I haven't been able to resolve the issue. Is there any way to fix this without resetting my computer?

JYX USB microphone causes my USB ports/mouse to stop working and PC gets stuck shutting down

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a JYX microphone and I'm having a very strange problem with it on my desktop PC.

When I connect the microphone to the PC via USB:

  • Windows does not recognize the microphone at all.
  • It does not appear in Device Manager.
  • Sometimes my mouse stops working completely, even if I move it to another USB port.
  • Sometimes the PC gets stuck during shutdown and doesn't turn off normally.
  • If I force the PC to shut down using the power button and then boot it without the microphone connected, the mouse works normally again.
  • I have already tried different USB ports.
  • I installed the official chipset and audio drivers, but it made no difference.
  • I also updated the BIOS to version P10.60, but the problem is still exactly the same.
  • The microphone itself works normally when connected to my phone and another PC.

My motherboard is an ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0, BIOS P10.60.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any idea what could be causing this?

need a little assistance can’t tell if this battery is bloated or not

they had gotten this from a Holloway a while back and someone was trying to use it, but they couldn’t get it to turn on. I don’t know if they still have the power cable or not but I was trying to check the battery first. Does anybody know if this looks like it might be going bad it doesn’t seem really bad. Some of the plastics pushed up, but you can kind of push it down and it doesn’t feel like it’s bloated. It just feels like the plastics just got air in it, but I don’t know a whole lot about laptops. I’m more of a desktop person. It’s an Acer nitro five from 2020 and I’m trying to see if I can get it working for the person again.

Sound and Audio Drivers not working/showing up in device manager

I have a dell g15 5520 gaming computer, works fine, battery is fine, everything in tact physically. Recently my laptop had died and remained that way for a week until I could get a new charger. On boot, it shows **manufacturing mode active** which has never happened before. And when I first opened it, the speaker icon was crossed out with an X. I look up solutions and it tells me to change output devices and whatnot, but when I look in device manager my original audio output (Realtek speakers or wtv), it doesn’t show at all. Not with control panel, and through settings. I tried reinstalling them but it never shows up. The same goes for input devices. Below are attached photos to give more context.

Trying To Download Drivers

So my little brother just got done building his very first PC and he has run into a bit of a snag. It is not connecting to the internet, even with an ethernet cable plugged in. So I troubleshooted it and it said I needed to update the drivers for his network adaptor , but I sadly don't know where or how. Do I go to the motherboard manufacturer and grab drivers from them, is it through my internet provider or?

I would like to add he is using his old SSD that stored his operating system on his previous computer and his new computer does not share any parts from his previous build. I'm not sure if that will help, but I thought more information is better than less.

Hard drive suddenly stopped working

My hard drive has suddenly stopped working properly. I have several games stored on it that I can still play without issues. However, the drive fails when I try to download a new game, even though I still have 300 GB of free space. I can provide screenshots for more context.

In short: I can play games, but I can't download them.

edit: i think my disk is just close to dying and im going to buy a new one. To everybody who helped up until now thanks

Nvidia Driver Clean Install Fail

Hello all,

So a while ago, I updated my Nvidia driver as usual, but it caused games to grey/beige screen after a few minutes, sometimes requiring a restart. I somehow discovered that by going into Device Manager, GTX 970, Update Driver, and selecting the existing driver, fixed the issue for as long as the PC was booted. That is until yesterday, when my display and audio went kaput randomly while in a game, even with the Device Manager workaround and multiple restarts. So i decided to do a clean installation which failed, last night, so i tried it again today, and got No DP Input after installation. I began hard resetting it and power draining it and sometimes the DP input would last long enough to get into bios or start recovery mode but not long enough to enter safe mode.

So what I did was just go into BIOS and activate IGD boot mode instead of PEG, using HDMI from my motherboard. Now I'm in Windows as normal using integrated graphics and am wondering what is the best course of action to reinstall my GPU drivers perhaps using DDU to see if I can get my 970 working normally again?

GTX 970 no longer shows up in device manager and the Nvidia app is now just a loading screen and says install a driver to access page.

Here is what the display was doing after the clean install:

I have no idea where to go from here so any pointers would be so greatly appreciated!

Gonna upgrade my PC in the near future but can't afford to right now as I'd have to replace everything.

OS: Windows 10 (Motherboard doesn't support Secureboot so i can't upgrade, Windows 10 is supported until October this year with extended updates)

CPU: i7 4790k

GPU: GTX 970

Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition (MS-7922)

RTX 3050 causes black screen as soon as NVIDIA driver installs – HDMI works with Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to diagnose a very strange issue with my RTX 3050 and would really appreciate some help.
My PC specs
CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 8GB
Motherboard: MSI PRO H610M-E
RAM: 16GB DDR4 (2×8GB, 3200MHz)
Storage: NVMe SSD
PSU: 660W
OS: Windows 11
The problem
My RTX 3050 is physically installed and connected to my monitor through the HDMI port on the RTX 3050 itself.
The PC displays video normally when Windows is using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
The problem starts specifically when I install the NVIDIA graphics driver.
As soon as the NVIDIA driver installation reaches the point where the display driver is installed/activated, the screen goes completely black.
The PC doesn’t immediately appear to shut down. The black screen occurs right around the time Windows switches from the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter to the NVIDIA driver.
What I’ve already observed
In Device Manager, before installing the NVIDIA driver:
Display adapters → Microsoft Basic Display Adapter
So Windows does detect/use the GPU enough to provide display output.
But when I install the NVIDIA driver:
→ screen goes black
I’ve tried waiting after the black screen, but the display doesn’t return normally.
There was also a Windows Update issue
Recently, I started a Windows Update. Almost immediately after the update started, the screen went black. I waited, but the system didn’t recover, so I eventually powered the PC off.
After that, Windows started giving:
CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED
I went through Windows Recovery Environment and tried several recovery options.
Things I checked/tried:
SFC found corrupted files and reported that it successfully repaired them.
CHKDSK /f completed and reported no filesystem problems.
Offline SFC later failed with “Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.”
DISM from WinRE repeatedly returned Error 2 / system cannot find the file specified.
RevertPendingActions also failed.
Uninstall Latest Quality Update failed.
Uninstall Latest Feature Update failed.
System Restore found a restore point from before the Windows Update, but the restore failed with 0x80070002, apparently while restoring the registry.
Safe Mode also resulted in CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.
Because the Windows installation became badly corrupted after the interrupted update, I’m now planning to do a completely fresh Windows 11 installation.
My main concern
I’m not sure whether the original Windows corruption caused the NVIDIA driver installation to crash/black-screen, or whether there is an underlying GPU/PCIe/driver problem.
The interesting thing is that:
RTX 3050 HDMI output works with Microsoft Basic Display Adapter → NVIDIA driver installation → immediate black screen.
The GPU isn’t completely dead because it can produce video output.
I also use an i5-12400F, so there is no integrated GPU to fall back to.
What I want to know
Does this behavior point toward a faulty RTX 3050?
Could a bad/incorrect NVIDIA driver cause a complete black screen exactly when the driver initializes?
Could the PCIe slot or PSU cause this even though the GPU gives display output?
Is there a particular NVIDIA driver version I should try first?
After a clean Windows 11 installation, should I install the NVIDIA driver before Windows Update?
Is there a way to test whether the GPU is actually being detected correctly at the PCIe/BIOS level?
Could this be a hardware acceleration/display mode issue rather than a dead GPU?
Any troubleshooting suggestions would be appreciated. I’d especially like to know what I should test immediately after the clean Windows installation before installing the NVIDIA driver, so I can determine whether this is a Windows problem or a GPU/driver/hardware problem.
Thanks.
