Advice on travelling towards May end. Need itinerary suggestions.

I'm traveling with a group of 7 to Coorg on 26th till 29th. What's the rain scenario right now?

Also is Mandalpatti open? Since a group of 7 on bikes in the rain is risky, any car rentals info? Help will be appreciated.

Did Madikeri forget to make roads after the 20th century?

Absolutely loved the town and the nearby hills but the roads in the town are some of the worst I've ever seen in my life. Worse than even Bangalore and Mumbai roads. I used to see such horribly maintained roads 20 yrs back in my childhood in Mumbai.

At one stretch, I could see a small hump, a pothole and a pool of mud water all together in a place. My brain took a few seconds to understand from where to navigate safely.

The RTO office looks like some 20th century relic. Outside the RTO, two horrible humps were made on each side of the road and in between lies the RTO gate.

Everything was amazing in Madikeri except the roads.

Which stay option to avoid insects?

I’m going to Coorg in end-May, and have a choice between a plantation stays in a relatively remote area, or a home stay in Madikeri town.

I’m terrified of insects, and have a phobia of moths and butterflies especially. I’m okay with a few critters esp non-flying ones, but trying to avoid too many of them.

Everyone says its better to stay within the plantations for the calmness and nature, but I’m wondering if its a bad idea to opt for the plantation stays since they’re inside forests? Is the homestay in town better instead, or will that also likely have insects of a similar nature?

Also, given its end-May, will weather or rain affect how many insects there are?

Also unrelated question, is phone/internet network good within Madikeri town? Or is that also as dicey as the forested areas?

Which travels bus to pick?

Hi everyone, planning to go to Coorg in a bus from Bangalore. While booking tickets on Ease My Trip and Make My Trip apps, came across the following travels - Sugama Tourists, Ashwini Tours, AsianXpress, Poornima Tours, Sri Vinayaka Bus, Kohinoor Travels, SKS Tours and Travels etc. There were some others but these were the major ones.

Has anyone travelled in any of these? Please suggest which one to pick.

How to travel from Mangalore Junction to Coorg

We are 7 people travelling to Coorg from Mangalore Junction. We’ll be reaching Mangalore around 8 AM, so can anyone suggest the best way to travel to Coorg? Should we book a taxi or take a bus?

Key questions:

  1. Do buses run frequently from Mangalore Junction railway station, or do we need to go to Mangalore Central to catch a bus? Also, is the bus ride comfortable, or is it usually crowded?

  2. How much would a one-way cab cost? Are online cab services like Ola or Uber available for this route?

Need suggestions for stay for unmarried couple

Hi Guys!
I want to visit coorg with my boyfriend. We are travelling from Bangalore next weekend.

We are confused about stays. We don’t want to roam around much. We would love a decent stay to have some space from the city and clear our heads for 3 days.

Can you please suggest good stays, as we might mostly stay in about Rs 4000-5000 max per night.

Also is it safe for us to travel, we don’t want to get policed.

How to reach Coorg from Bangalore

Does anyone have specific busses they recommend for Bangalore to Coorg? I’m ideally looking for an AC sleeper bus to travel overnight, but reviews on the various bus booking sites are mixed.

A lot of people recommended KSRTC buses, but I can’t find any AC options.

I’m open to other routes too, but I’m travelling with my mother and a 5-6 hour car journey might be strenuous for her. But if it’s not as stressful then I’m open to that too.

Please share your experience and suggestions!

Bangalore to Coorg Weekend Plan – Need Suggestions

Planning a Coorg trip this weekend. Thinking of leaving Bangalore on Friday night and returning by Saturday night.

Is one full day enough to cover the main places in Coorg without rushing too much, or is it better to stay one night there? Mainly want to visit the best spots and enjoy the trip properly.
