Resort options in Coorg with 8mo

Hey All,

We are planning to visit coorg this weekend. Please recommend good resorts with a 8mo baby

We have shortlisted,

Club mahindra - Good all over but recent reviews regarding maintainance aren't great and all experiences are charged extra.

Amanvan - Good stay but bad reviews on food and service.

Magnolia - Good place to stay to real nature, however less options to do inside

However confused which one is better, there are mixed reviews for all. Please share any personal experiences that you had recently that would be very helpful.

Also open to any other good stays as well. We are looking to spend more time in resort and minimal travel outside.

Thank you in advance.

Coorg itinerary- Shall I extend the trip?

Hi,

I am coming on a business trip to Coorg from 21 to 25 September. I was thinking about extending it for personal travel but I got a rough itinerary from my office today. So we will be covering

- Abbey Falls
- Some coffee plantation tour
- Nagarhole Nature Park
- Raja’s seat
- A fort (no name specified)

So it there anything that is left for me to extend the trip or shall I just come back on 25th with everyone?
I am also open to any nearby place if it offers something great to see.

Thanksss

Bangalore → Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple), Coorg – Best Bike Route? 🏍️

Planning to ride from Bangalore to Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple), soon.

Google Maps is showing me a few different routes, including:

• Bangalore → Kunigal → Channarayapatna → Holenarasipura → Kushalnagar → Bylakuppe
• Bangalore → Mysore → Hunsur → Kushalnagar → Bylakuppe
• Bangalore → Hassan side → Kushalnagar → Bylakuppe

For people who have actually done this ride before:

Which route would you recommend for a bike/scooter?

I'm mainly looking for:

  • Good road condition
  • Scenic route
  • Less traffic
  • Enjoyable riding experience
  • Good places to stop for breakfast/tea

If you've recently travelled from Bangalore to the Golden Temple, please share which route you took and how the roads were.

Also, if there are any beautiful/scenic spots or good food stops along the route, please suggest them.

Thanks!

Mandalpatti Peak – What’s the cheapest way to reach the top?

Planning to visit Mandalpatti Peak soon on my scooter. I’m trying to figure out the best way to avoid paying extra for the jeep.

I’ve heard that instead of taking a jeep from the bottom, we can ride the scooter partway, park it somewhere, and then take a jeep for the remaining off-road section. Is this actually allowed and does it reduce the cost?

Or is there any better/cheaper option? Can we safely take the scooter closer to the top?

If anyone has recently visited Mandalpatti, please suggest the best and most cost-effective way to do it. 🙏

Coorg: Our experience at the Tamara

The resort is nothing less than magical.

We booked two nights of stay at The Tamara for my wife's birthday. Reaching from bangalore took 6 including the breakfast pitstop.

Upon arriving, we started seeing the greatest hospitality from The Tamara staff - right from check in experience, to ensuring our preferences getting met.

We booked a Superior Luxury Cottages for unobsructed views of the valley (pro tip - Book Superior luxury cottages only. Normal Luxury Cottages have a plantation view, the view from the balcony is limited).

The resort had so many things and activities that even two days felt short:
- Multiple natural waterfalls within the resort
- Temperature controlled pool + another forest-facing pool
- Sauna (free)
- Activity room (lots of games to easily spend 2-3 hours)
- Multiple activities (chargeable): Trek, off road jeep, bird watching, coffee plantation tour, yoga sessions, etc

But we liked most was the Sauna experience, the beautiful waterfalls and hidden trails within the resort.

Few fun facts their staff told us
- Land parcel of 20+ acres; this resort took 6 years to build.
- Owner is co founder of Infosys

PS: Many commented to put the room rates.

This is a reasonably costly resort. We booked superior luxury cottages with all three meals for 2 nights. Price per room was ~37k. We utilised our inifinia credit (smartbuy) to get accelerated rewards. This helped bring the cost down to 25k.

I know this is very costly for many of us including us, but some special occasions deserve this.

Trust me 25k is totally worth it for one night stay itself.

Anyone up for an offbeat Coorg trip from Bangalore??

Hey! We’re planning a Coorg adventure from Bangalore, 14–16 August.

Think Nishani Betta trek, forest jeep trails, hidden waterfalls, coffee estates, camping + bonfire nights definitely not your usual relaxed resort trip.

If you’re into adventure, meeting new people and a little bit of chaos, reply here and I’ll share the details!
