Thoughts from a new user
I am about half the way through the extremely tedious (and unfortunately eye-opening) task of categorizing a few years worth of transactions. I can tell this is going to be a very powerful and easy to use tool for me going forward, but I have some thoughts for the powers that be:
- co-sign everything about the Mac App. The web app is much more usable, though lacking in functionality. As I am trying to set up rules, I have go into the Mac app just to set them up and then go back to the web app.
- The AI categorization is very bad. I am having to recategorize I would say about 90% of transactions. Many returns are being categorized as internal transfers. Also, all Zelle payments, which really should not code as internal transfers. What is very frustrating, especially as I go back further in time or see rare vendors like from vacation, I have to go back to my bank app to see how they categorized it. Almost all of the time, they have it correct. I don't know if the banks don't make that information available to Copilot, but if they do and Copilot is using its own AI instead, on purpose, that is a bad choice.
- I wish it would use the transaction date vs the posting date for credit card transactions.
Going forward, this will all be easier. I am mostly working on my computer now (and using phone to look things up), but once I just have to categorize a few transactions a day, I will do it by phone and it should be very fast and easy. I love being able to search transactions across all accounts (in my bank app, I can only search within accounts even for that bank). Also, the rules seem to work well and should make that even easier going forward.
Question: is it possible to set up a password rather than getting an email code? It didn't give me the opportunity to do it, but then it seemed to be an option when I re-logged in. I went into account settings to try to set one up, but that sent me to AI support. AI support said it would help, and then ghosted.
Also: why does changing the category change the order of the transactions?
