Any honest shop do car AC? Want to recharge my AC but don't want to break my wallet

Not a car guy and I rarely use the AC, but with how hot this summer has been, I’ve noticed that my car AC isn’t cooling anymore (could be a leak). I looked into recharging it myself, only to find out that my old beater uses R134a, which is heavily regulated in Canada, unlike R12a.

Canadian Tire quoted me $330 without seeing my car. I also called Budget Brake & Muffler Auto, and the owner was nice enough to recommend waiting until next year because R134a prices are apparently through the roof due to high demand.

Still, I’d appreciate any suggestions for alternatives that's below $200. The thought of driving a hotbox for the next few months is not attractive ><

Thanks for reading!

Recommended Roofing Company?

My parents need a roofing company to fix up years of damage done by rats.

Hoping to get a recommendation this time because we looked up some guys online before and chose them based on rating and they turned out not great (they damaged the house and didn’t clean up afterwards).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Bridge to Lafarge Lake island approved?

I went for a walk today and noticed a bridge being built on both sides of the island in Lafarge Lake but I thought this was shot down by council in 2021?

I've looked through the minutes but can't find anything showing recent changes to what they decided in 2021...

Had anyone heard anything about this? There are Western Painted Turtles in that part of the lake and they are listed as endangered?

The City's own July 2021 final-design report makes this explicit: the original plan had four zones, including Island Walk, but “based on Council input, the Island Walk zone was not advanced in order to preserve the wildlife habitat in this zone.” Council then approved the final Garden Walk and Urban Walk design without the island connection.

What summer camp / programs for kids were worth it this year?

I know summer isn't even over but I'm already given thoughts to next year.

I'm curious what summer day camp, structured program, or anything you kids were enrolled in that were worth it.

I'm specifically looking for 7-12 for age range but if you have any info on something for younger or older feel free to share.

Safe areas to stealth park?

I grew up in the Tri-Cities area and have been far too homesick for my own good for several decades. I'd like to return home and contribute to the community. However, I'll need safe places to stealth park before replanting roots. I prefer to avoid shelters as they're not always safe for women. By now, I'm sprouting greys and am certainly no scrapper! Does anyone have suggestions for safer areas? Thank you for any insights.

Edit: Given I'm trying to avoid being outdoors over winter, this is speculatively planned for early spring. Thank you for all your helpful comments.

Strength Training Class

Hello,

Can anyone recommend any gym that has small group strength training - preferable 6am start (30-60 mins), or after work?

I had a lot of options downtown in close proximity. The closest gym to me is aquatic centre and I've gone and done lifting weights but I just enjoy a small group class and benefit from the group energy.

I also do pilates and yoga and I know my options there, but I haven't seen any other gym that focuses just on providing these small classes.

SkyTrain Noise Near Burquitlam – Anyone Else Having This Issue?

Hello! I just moved into a condo near Burquitlam and was wondering if anyone else is having issues with SkyTrain noise. My unit faces the SkyTrain, and I swear it wasn’t really noticeable before moving in, but now it’s killing me. The squeaking sound from the wheels is the worst, especially at night.

Has anyone found any good solutions? My unit already has double-glazed windows installed.

Suggestions

Hello everyone! I’m a 28yearold guy who recently moved to Coquitlam fromAfrica. I’m looking to improve my English and meet new people, especially people around my age.

I’m interested in finding places or activities where I can naturally meet and socialize with English speakers. I enjoy talking to people and I’m pretty comfortable walking up to someone and starting a conversation, so I’d love to know if people in Coquitlam are generally friendly and open to meeting new people.

I also play football (soccer) ⚽ and would love to join a league or casual team in Coquitlam. I’m also interested in volleyball 🏐 and tennis 🎾 and would appreciate recommendations for places, clubs, leagues, or drop-in sessions where I can play and meet people.

For those who live in Coquitlam, what is the lifestyle and social scene like? Are people generally friendly and approachable? What are some good places or activities for someone in their late 20s to meet people and make friends?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 😊

Looking for vet recommendations for senior Persian cat

Have a senior (15yo) indoor Persian cat who's had dental issues in the past and has developed some concerning skin bumps. This is the first time im taking him to a vet myself (parents used to do it when I was a kid, but stopped at some point because $$). Im a college student with a limited budget but im willing to sell anything I own for this cat. He gets really anxious about leaving the house, so looking for a good place that's compassionate and will let me be in the room with him. Hopefully affordable without sacrificing quality. I'm located in Coquitlam but im willing to go anywhere in metrovancouver for quality/better price. Any insights are extremely helpful, this is really stressing me out since I also have tuition coming up soon. We haven't taken him to the vet in years and I'm worried I will need money I don't have.
