I am now the owner of the pinnacle of plastic crap - £40 at a jumble stall

I saw this beauty glimmering out of the corner of the gazebo and knew I had to have it. It still works and has the original remote! Gave it a little wipe down and it's in great condition considering it's from 1983. Now I've got to try to haul this monster up to my bedroom so wish me luck.

Found a Phillips Discoverer crt

Got my hands on a holy grail of CRTs today. The Phillips discoverer. Isn’t the rgb scart model only the rf model. Not to sure if it works as cords been snipped but the outer shell is in absolutely fantastic shape, no cracks or anything. Couple little scuffs in visor but reckon I can polish it out. I’ve never opened a crt before and honestly don’t have the time to learn at the moment. Would anyone like to have a look at this or could refer me to someone that is knowledgeable on getting sets running, am happy to pay for the repair/diagnoses Like I said is untested and have no idea if the tv works, might just need a new cord and that’s it not sure. but the tube and outer shell is in great condition so leaning towards it being okay.

Located Wollongong area. Am happy to drive upto Sydney though or down the coast. Really want to get this fixed up and running again, so stoked!

500 Australian dollars for this and it doesn't even have it's original remote

Clearly has been living on the floor and it doesn't even come with the original remote. This is why I can't get one of these things easily. Not buying this any time soon and I hope nobody does.

Finally have the CRT set up of my dreams.

Took me about 2 years to find these sets, but I couldn’t be happier. Just need a rug, lamp, and comfy chair and I’ll be set lol.

Free find! Dvd player not working

Recently, my wife found this 2006 memorex for free. The only issue is that little hole (We have the pieces to fix) and the fact that the DVD player is not reading, is this an easy fix? Or is it even worth fixing at all? super new to these literally less than a week back into it after only using them growing up lol!

First CRT. Having trouble getting set up.

Forgive my ignorance but I decided it would be cool to have a little CRT setup in the corner of my room, so I went put and bought this 1989 Hitachi CT1385. It only has a coaxial antenna input. When I went to look at it I didnt have anything to test it but it was showing clear static from top to bottom of the screen. When I got it home and turned it on the static only shows with black bars at the top and bottom and after some testing a walmart antenna (which I found wouldnt have ever worked) with it it stopped showing static totally. Now that I’ve finally hooked up the RF Modulator and a laptop the TV is still showing the input with black bars, and it seems to be lacking colour aside from a faint red tint. This specific model seems to be very hard to find diagrams or info for so any help getting this setup with proper colour and clarity displaying a laptop input would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! Would love some help!

I am acquiring this old TV that only has a coaxial plug on the back. It does not have RCA (which I’ve never seen a TV not have RCA). I really want to hook this up to my VCR, but don’t want to lose the sound/video quality from the coaxial input. Instead of a coaxial cord, I want to use something like the modulator on slide 2. But I’d like to order it from Amazon. Can someone please help me find this or something that would work on Amazon? Thank you!

Three Profeels are too many Profeels for one person

Or maybe not, who knows?

I have two 1901s and one 1901A. I would be interested in trading one or more for other interesting 80s and older CRTs. I really like component models as well as models with the glass tube protector like these.

If you or someone you know has an extra Profeel cart, I would be interested in purchasing it.

Let me know if you would be interested in any of them. Not looking to sell, just to trade. Located in Southern Wisconsin.

This post shows my 1901A in more detail.

Is there any saving my HD CRT?

I just got this 98kg behemoth last weekend and it was perfect for my PS2/1 games, but last night it suddenly went rainbow coloured and I swear I could smell smoke from the back. When I'm actually in game the corners are discoloured but the centre seems ok.

Is there anything I can do to save it?

Getting another CRT where I am seems basically impossible
