Sony Trinitron KV-V1430U

Huge haul of CRT units at work this week.

Could somebody help me out? I’m unsure how to get rid of the green text overlay on the screen? I haven’t got the remote control.

please help... Grid-like pattern in the background of my screen on my Toshiba 27A43 CRT TV ?

I know that it is not visible in the photo I've attached, but I need some help .. I am new to CRT TV's. This one was my grandparents, and I remember spending many long hours watching and playing video games on this, back in the day. I just recently retrieved it from the family storage unit 100 miles away from my home.

For some reason, there is a grid in the background of the TV picture on the screen. My mother said that she may have messed something up on the service menu. I am just so lost, and feeling so defeated. Nothing online is showing me any definitive way to fix this...

Posting a cool CRT instead of complaining about CRT prices, Day 38 of 100: Commodore 1902

These more often than not always seem to be yellowed and have a broken clip on the front panel. Other than that its fine. The 1902 has two input options: s-video over RCA jacks and digital RGB. I don't have either of those, so I just used composite. It still works this way, but without the full signal it looks rather washed out. Also, the image looks really wavy as well.

These can look really good if you seek out the correct cord for them, but at the same time I see why many people prefer the 1702 over this one, with the biggest difference being that the 1702 also has a composite input on the front. Another thing that I don't really like about this set is the one mono speaker that's located on the side of the set. It doesn't sound the best.

I think that's everything. Wasn't this fun? I shared a set and didn't mention that CRTs are sometimes expensive. If you want to do the same, please make a post and share your sets. I would love to see them.

38 down, 62 to go. See you tomorrow.

Trying to get a 4:3 picture on my Samsung tx-s2782h CRT with a HDMI input on Linux

I made some 4:3 resolutions in Linux but when i select them my monitor says not supported mode. Now when I made a 720x480 resolution it doesn’t show up as an option. How do I get Linux to display properly?

Rhapsody TVS-628 B&W Portable Television

My brother picked this up at Goodwill for $2, and after picking up an RF modulator and coax-to-3.5mm adapter, it's alive! I tried some SNES and even PS1 too, though I only recorded this play through of Heatman's stage.

I have luma cable directly plugged into the RF modulator and it produces a spectacularly sharp image, I was really surprised. The driver is a MiSTer outputting Y/C directly with no adapters.

I don't know how often this kind of thing sails through the subreddit, but if anyone knows anything (fun facts or otherwise) about sets like this I'd be super interested to hear. It's a really cool piece of history.

Anyone know this specific TV model?

I’m trying to find out any info about this console TV. Seems like it’s a console edition of the SR 2000 Stereo Sound TV, produced by Sears, Roebuck & Co. with the model number being 564-4812265, serial no. V6310201410, something like that, manufactured July 1986…

Can’t find anything about it online… must’ve been a limited edition run in the wood console form. Would be nice to know how I can rig it to run HDMI with my phone & tablet, I do have RCA to HDMI conversion modules but I tried one and it didn’t work. Just a black screen. Any advice?

Help me save this guy!!!

I found this beautiful 27” RCA colortrak 2000. It was lying outside at my local dump about a year ago and i got it in before it got too damaged (was raining that day). Someone cut the cord so i threw one on and tried to fire it up after a couple days of letting it dry out but it was dead. Long story short a years past since then and im finally able to take a crack at it. Ive done basic repairs on a few crts before, but ive never had one that wouldnt do anything at all. I gave the board a once over and found a fuse, I replaced it (even though the one that was in was fine) but as you can expect that did nothing. I really want to get this guy going, so i figured id ask around to see if anyone had any input before i go jack something up. Also, look at the inputs on this thing!!

Is there anyway at all to convert Display Port to Composite to use a CRT TV?

I have a gaming PC with RTX 5060 Ti and would love to run SNES and PS1 and PS2 games connecting a CRT TV

But I heard those Amazon HDMI to composite converters are bad cause it don't output in 240p or something like that and that it adds like 2 frames of lag 30ms

IS there like display port to VGA then VGA to composite or some other workaround?

If not I may look to invest in a Raspberry Pi android emulator or something that comes with composite output.

Also what about say USB to composite? actually that sounds like it will add input delay.

White line on rescued CRT

I recently rescued a couple of CRTs from the side of the road, one of which is a Philips 20pt6245/37.

The AV ports on the left side are damaged, and it had the plug cut off (not a great start…), but upon attaching a new plug it seems like it works.

However, there is a white line shown near the top of the screen… reading in here and online in general, white lines seem to be bad, but in almost every post I’ve read there are either lots of lines or a single super bright one with no picture.

I’ve ordered a remote to enter service mode, in case it’s a horizontal adjustment issue, but while I wait for that, does anyone have any thoughts as to the potential cause?

(And no, I’m not naked, I have a tshirt on)

I like SD CRT TVs with curved tubes made in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

High-end CRTs from that era deliver the RCA-like image quality aesthetic at its best. The chroma bleed, blooming, and aged color tones all combine to create a look that fits perfectly with 8-bit and 16-bit games, giving the feeling of being transported back to that time.

Help me decipher these!

So, recently I got a CRT from a lady who had chopped off the vga cable. I was excited to try and fix it because it seems like a decently simple fix, and I wanted to try using this solderless VGA port I found online. After doing some research and exposing the cables I realized I don’t really have any idea how to know which of these wires connects to which pins on the solderless port. How exactly do I decipher this and find out what goes where?? I’ll post an update if I can get it working tonight!!

laser disc player

I bought this magnavox laserdisc player for $100 from my local record store. My partner and I tried setting it up to my 2014 vizio led tv. (for reference I also have my Panasonic vhs/dvd Player set up to this tv through the components too.) When setting up the player it turns on you can hear the disc spinner but the screen is just blue. any help? also thoughts and opinions on this player as well as history would be greatly appreciated.
