USC or CSUN for business

Hi everybody I know school starts in a couple days but I just got the financials run by my parents. I am currently in the midst of appealing for more aid from USC because both my parents lost their jobs in 2024.

Right now before the appeal, USC is gonna cost me 27ish thousand per semester after grants. CSUN will cost me 3.5k a semester. USC was my dream school but I don’t know if it is financially worth it.

I accepted admission to CSUN a while back and never told them I wouldn’t be going.

I AM A TRANSFER STUDENT SO I CURRENTLY HAVE JUNIOR STANDING.

Is USC worth it?

I would be paying with private loans

Accounting Major Scheduling for a Six Class Semester - Opinions Wanted

I'm an incoming junior transfer from community college. Per my advisor, between professional accountancy major requirements, business core, and three upper division GE classes, I'll have to take five classes each of my four semesters, plus squeeze in an extra one at some point (not including the one unit Excel cert. class). I'm enrolled in six classes this semester and not terribly stressed at the idea of Acct. 350 but I want to set myself up for success.

  1. Is it a bad idea to take six classes in my first semester at CSUN as I take Acct 350? Would I be better off pushing one class off to another semester once I get my footing?

  2. Is it worth paying an extra $1,551 to take over a summer? - not ideal for me but technically could.

What are my fellow professional accountancy majors doing in regard to this?

Thanks in advance!

Csun won't respond to my advising inquires

For the past few days I've really needed to switch around my classes and what times they're at, but I have an advising hold on my account and I'm super confused because it says this is where I would've signed up for classes to begin with? I called AND emailed about it and I was forced to leave a voice message and it's been days and they still haven't responded. I'm running out of time and already panicking about all of this as is and this is making it worse and idk what to do :(

I had to pay for tuition because my loan was delayed

I had no choice at this point but because my loan wasn't going through, and it's my understanding I'll be reimbursed once it's processed and I'll (hopefully eventually get my 4k back) I payed out of pocket for the entire semester. I'm in tears. I needed that money and even if I get it back, god I hope I get it back, this means I now can't afford rent, groceries, or any other necessities. I was trying as long as I could to save up but I'm not in the best situation to spend that kind of money. This degree is my ticket out of a really unfortunate situation and having my own money to be more independent was quite literally a life saver. I feel devastated and I'm in survival mode now. This really sucks and if anyone knows for sure that it will be reimbursed I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks for listening to my rant. I'm gonna keep crying till I figure this out.

Financial aid return

Should I be expecting more to be retuned or is this it?

Today I got $533 from my FASFA return, however I was expecting more.

With a total estimate of $5,329 (Pell Grant $1,495, Cal Grant A $3,419, Estimate MCS 2.0 $415), I figured I would still have about a grand left over after tuition was paid. For context, I live off campus and have no other campus cost other than the mandatory ones.

Only thing I can think is that I got nothing from my MCS and the tuition is more than I thought it would be.

Shared Fall 2026 Parking Pass

Is anyone looking to share a parking pass? I only have classes on Tuesdays, 2:30-3:45pm, and possibly other times to come on campus to study if the other person doesn't need to!

Please message me but only if you're willing to maintain open communication about flexible days we can be on campus when the other is not !

Thanks!

Is it possible to get a bachelors degree from CSUN fully online?

I (M, 25) am currently helping my younger sister (F, 22) apply to universities. She just received her associate’s in business from community college.

We live in Lancaster, CA and the closest university is csun. I’ve advised her to apply to csun and some of the other closer cal states. However, she has her mind set on getting her bachelor’s degree fully online.

I don’t think this is the greatest idea considering business can be pretty competitive and networking in person is half of the benefit of attending a university. Additionally, I’m also not sure if it would even be possible for her to take all online classes.

She is the first person in our family to go to college so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Refund

I signed up for direct deposit before the 12th and checked again the day they sent the email about funds being disbursed and realized I put an incorrect number on the account number information. What would be the case since I likely won’t receive my money through direct deposit? Would calling cash services to redirect the deposit to the right bank help?

Univ301… worth my time?

Hey guys! I’m transferring to CSUN this year, and my CSUN advisor told me to enroll in a seminar called UNIV301 specifically for transfer students. TBH, it messed up my schedule as I can’t catch the train back home (I’m a commuter). Should I swap it for a different class time, or drop the class all together? Aside from this class, I believe I’m taking 20 or 21 units.

Edit: my DPR says that UNIV301 counts toward total unites required for a degree. When completed this course is included in the total units earned and GPA. Then when I scroll down it says: THESE COURSES DO NOT PROVIDE UNIT CREDIT TOWARD A BACHELOR DEGREE. UNIV301 is on that list….

Edit#2: the current UNIV301 class I’ve enrolled in is the only one available for my cohort (Nazarian college of bus), so since the timing of it doesn’t work for my schedule I’ll probably end up dropping it.

I’m a freshman, do I have to attend NSO ALLL day??

NSO is literally all day and throughout my high school career I visited, toured, and networked at CSUN already. I know I have to check in and everything and I’d be willing to stay half of the day but, by lunch I want to go I am not someone who can be out and about with people all day. My social battery and anxiety and migraines will not agree with this. I want to know the important things then dip. Will I be penalized or anything if I don’t stay the entire time? Or should I just pull the headache and over heating excuse when I get there LMAO

Is there anywhere I can park for free?

Howdy, I’m new student who will be attending for appx 1 year, and I will need to be making a bit of a commute 2x a week.

Frankly, I don’t have a lot of money, so in lieu of springing for a parking pass, is there anywhere on campus or very much nearby that I can reliably (safely?) be able to park my car? If it helps, I’ll likely be taking all of my classes in the college of education (the closest on-campus parking lot I believe is b5).

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice any of you might have.

Family trip during Thanksgiving help

Hi everyone, I'm taking 2 in-person classes which are chem 100 with Elham Fazelpour from 1 to 2 and Phys 100A with Eric Collins. I'm going on a family trip that I already have planned for November 18th to December 5th. I'm leaving the 18th at night so I'll be missing 4 days of class each. If anyone who's taken them can tell me how they are with absences or how to reach them since I'm not in the canvas yet. Any help would be great. Thanks.

What's going on with Loans not going out yet?

I know I accepted my loan but I still have the full amount of tuition due today? What's going on? Like I don't have that money, I already accepted the loan to cover it, I'd pay whatever is remaining but this is insane. Does anyone have any insight? I'm so confused and honestly really stressed about what's going on. I'm so close to graduating this is my fifth and last year so I don't know what to do.
