Looking for roommate for August! 8-10 min walk from campus (shared room $620-650 monthly)

Hello I’m a csun grad this summer, looking for a girl roommate to replace my current roommate moving out in August! Preferably a transfer student (and above) or anyone comfortable living with two other girls in their early 20s.

You would share a room with me! Our apartment is two bed two room. Our room has a bathroom attached and a small walk in closet. Rent is $525 a month but with utilities I’d say around $620-$650, but most of the time it’s less. It’s a monthly lease. Deposit is $250.

It’s a 8 min walk from campus (in front of the children center).

PLEASE NOTE: we are in the in the process of exterminating the apartment. We have had issues with bugs in the kitchen ONLY.
We are looking for someone clean to maintain a clean space! I hope to have the place bug free by August.

We often like to have friends over, or sleepover (our couch is a bed couch). Feel free to have friends over (of course with letting us know)!
Hoping to find someone comfortable with that.

The apartment is an older building but I love it here. Please dm for any questions!

The space would be the left side of the room UNFURNISHED!

Anyone else have negative experiences with Dr. Jungku Lee (psychiatrist)?

I just had my second appointment with her and she basically threw a tantrum when I asked if she agreed with my last psychiatrist that we should increase my Prozac. She went on this whole tirade about how she doesn’t listen to patient input and if I wanted to increase my dosage then I should just go somewhere else. Mind you…I didn’t even ask for an increase, I just asked for her opinion but she acted like I was hassling her for hard drugs or some shit.

I’ve seen so many psychiatrists in my life and I know they can be a little detached so I’m always prepared for that but this is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before with any healthcare provider, it was so strange. I immediately called to schedule an appointment with a different psychiatrist. Anyone else have an issue with her before?

So weird that someone working in mental health care at a college of all places is so unnecessarily aggressive.

So I’m in a bit of a pickle

  1. I have zero financial aid and I have almost 30K that I have to pay forward for the year, which is fucking insane.

2: I accidentally signed up on housing to roommate with girls, which I got nothing against (Most of my family is female), but I’m pretty sure the actual roommates and my folks will.

If anybody has any solutions to nip both these problems in the bud, I would greatly appreciate it

Did anyone else have a horrible time picking classes, or just me?

Ok so I'm a freshman in the Pre-imaging major and yesterday was the advisor meeting/picking classes thing. And oh my god, it was horrible??? At the beginning of the meeting, I thought my advisor seemed very nice and was quite excited to pick classes. We get into picking the classes and a few people are having issues, including me. Multiple of us were having trouble adding a class with a U... Something 60, I can't remember off the top of my head. But I felt like when anyone asked for help, he was very rude. The issue was that we didn't understand that the class and the U-smth 60 needed to be added separate. But when someone asked he'd just be like 'Oh that's impossible... You need to add the code.' which 1. Wasn't very helpful because DUH and 2. Was said hella rudely??

The meeting goes on and he's basically like, 'okay guys we gotta hurry, I don't know why it's taking this long to add classes. I have another meeting soon.’ Like...? Okay. People trickle out as he helps them one by one because overall wasn't working. I'm the last one there and I have ONE classes successfully added... Which is math 106 and the mandatory study hour thing we had to take with it. So then he asks me to share my screen to help and I'm like 'thank god maybe this will help'. Nope.

He makes me add that UNI100 classes or whatever which I did not want 😭. And then he asks if I want to take psychology or gender studies and I picked gender studies because I might already have a psychology credit. We get to the class list and he's hella rushing me. I was not given a chance to think about the times of the classes or even pick which class I wanted to take. So now my schedule is Math 106, Women work and family, and UNI100. Great. At the end he was asking me If I wanted to add another class and I did want to, because I feel like my schedule is empty and just... Not it. But I ended up saying No and he was like making it seem like I didn't have the capacity to take another class because of Math 106. 😭😭😭😭😭 oh and the times are horrible. I have a class that starts 15m after one ends. Great.

Side note, he messed my name up??? He decided to latch on to my middle name for some reason and I had to correct him multiple times. I'm a guy but I have a very fem middle name and it was just so embarrassing 😭

I'm just so... I don't even know. WHAT can I do?? Is there a way to go through and change these classes so I'm not stuck in UNI100 and something I didn't want??? I don't want to make some crazy deal out of this if I have to so if I just have to suck it up I will.

Financial Aid/SAP

Hello! Second year student here i recently ended up in a pickle, so I recently got out of academic probation just raised my gpa back to good standing but my total units passed/completed is at 65% which is 2% below the required. I obviously called and have to write a SAP appeal by July 13th, my main two questions are this. Will my SAP appeal get approved before my FAFSA so I can pay for tuition and when does it get approved, and my second question is do they typically approve appeals where the circumstances was just overloading on semesters (basically taking more classes and making things hectic) as a valid reason?

FAFSA??

This morning I received this message..

“According to our records, you have an outstanding financial obligation to the University. As a result, a hold has been placed on your University records, which may restrict access to certain services, including registration.”

Which confuses me a bit because last time I contacted them they told me that they won’t unenroll me and that FAFSA will cover it.

For context, I have a single class for Summer Session 3 and have yet to receive any FAFSA, so should i just pay it or wait for it to hit? ):

Has anyone received FAFSA for summer?

Enrollment appointment ends July 5th and still waiting on ACE Workshop/Advising. Am I screwed?

Lowkey I was doomscrolling on TikTok and I heard that I could see my AP scores early by looking at my Unofficial Transcript through the student center. I've been looking around there and I realized that my Fall 2026 enrollment appointment window ends July 5th 11:59 pm. I just sent my ACE Questionnaire for C.S. today July 1st at 2:20 AM 😭 , but they say it takes 5 days to process. I'm worried I won't get my advisement information cleared in time.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Does the ACE office usually move faster than 5 days? Also, if I miss this window, when does "Open Enrollment" usually start so I can try again?

FYI, right now I'm an exploratory major as an first time freshman that plans to do computer science and get academic advisement for this major.

Thanks!

tuition went up—for me at least

As students, I feel it's important to be able to talk money. We're adults, right? I'm not on any aid and I'm about to drop 4.1k on tuition throughout the next couple months in a series of payments whenever I can make them. I bring this up because the semester before left me paying 3.9k, the semester before had me paying 3.7-3.8k. Anyone else recognizing this pattern here? let me know.

Help, I’m new

Hey y’all, future international CS freshman on CSUN. I’m from Panama and I wanted to ask some general information as I’m currently on the defering process to (hopefully) start on spring 2027

How is the CS experience at CSUN?

Do y’all recommend living in campus or on nearby apartments?

How are the in-campus jobs for international students?

And what tips do y’all recommend for newcomers?

Start a club?

I saw someone post a while back about starting a book club, and I thought that was such a great idea. I love reading books (it’s relaxing) and yapping about them. I want to start it up but I don’t have the slightest clue how to begin. Does anyone have experience with this? Or I’ll just settle with joining that crocheting club 😭

I have another dorm question?? Roommates?

Does anyone know when the names of the other roommates will be added to the portal? My kid picked their room (group of two) last week for an apt with kitchen. The portal still says the other room is vacant. Will the names show up if someone picks the other room or are they notified after all the placements are made? They would love to connect as soon as possible. Thanks

What's it like living in Northridge outside of CSUN?

I'm currently living in Northern California, and honestly, it's been pretty boring where I am. I'll be transferring to CSUN for the Spring semester, and I'm curious about what Northridge is like outside of campus.

Are there good places to hang out, restaurants, cafés, or things to do nearby? How's the overall vibe, is it a safe area, and what are the people like? I'd love to hear your experiences or any advice for someone who's new to the area :) thanks

academic disqualification

hi everyone! I'm reaching out for advice on being academic disqualified. my boyfriend died in September and I didn't want to drop out due to my financial aid but I completely trashed my year from being so suicidal. I never reached out for help all year because I figured I would just be dead and it wouldn't matter but now I'm better and dealing with unfortunate consequences. I have an appointment with my advisor but any other advice would be appreciated. I'm one year from graduation so this is a bummer but I'm so close to finishing I would love to get it done. the only classes I need right now are all 400 level so I'm just a little stuck. thanks y'all!
