Move In Day

Does anyone know of a local company/campus group who would be available on move in day to put together a couple items for a dorm room? mostly free standing shelving carts, etc. We are out of state and have to ship a couple bigger items. Thanks!

Is it too late for a freshman to get undergrad on-campus housing?

I applied for housing then missed the opening so I applied again. I get it's best to look for off-campus at this point but will the waitlist be long for me to get a spot at this point? I'm not a freshman. Just wondering the likelihood of a spot opening up.

Ignore the mistake in the title, I'm not a freshman, I'm a returning student.

Campus happenings today?

I wanted to go check out the campus, is there anything going on this weekend or is it pretty much dead?

Are the buildings generally open or all locked up?

Any suggestions around town nearby?

Petition circulators lying

I saw two circulators yesterday outside of the C4C at CU saying their petitions “protect mail-in voting” and “prevent gerrymandering” misleading people who sign. The organization employing these signature collectors is Big Tent (bigtentusa.org), which claims to be non-partisan is very clearly conservative.

The text of the petition they said “protects mail-in voting” actually makes mail-in voting more restrictive. And, the one “preventing gerrymandering” tries to limit Colorado’s ability to redistrict in the same way conservatives states are, giving democrats a disadvantage.

Read the text of any ballot initiative before you sign. Look for circulators identifying badges.

CU Boulder Aerospace Engineering Questions

Heads up about the rule: please don’t flame me, I couldn’t find the threads or sticky posts,

So as a high schooler who REALLY REALLY wants to go to cu boulder for aerospace engineering

What did (for those of you who got in) do to get accepted?

What was your gpa throughout high school?
What were your extracurriculars? How important were they?
HOW did you get accepted in?
What can I do to get accepted in?
Was it hard to get admitted?

Financial Aid Package??

I have not yet received my financial aid package for school yet and now we are in July. I am going into the MENV program and have called multiple times since May. Has anyone else received their package yet? Maybe someone else in this program can respond. I just wanted to know what others are experiencing.

The only answer they give me is that “Due to FAFSAs changes we are experiencing delays” They apparently haven’t received my fafsa yet so it’s really odd and seems very unprofessional to me. I can only think it is not a fafsa issue but a school issue now.

Local Rescue Needs Help

Hi everyone,
I’m the founder of a small, foster-based puppy rescue in northern Colorado, and I’m honestly writing this with a pretty heavy heart.

A few days ago, seven tiny shepherd mix puppies were abandoned in a box and left to fend for themselves. They came into our rescue immediately and were placed into strict isolation. Our veterinarian has confirmed they were exposed to parvovirus before they ever arrived in our care.

Despite catching it early and doing everything we could, all seven puppies are now battling parvo.
Tonight, two of them are hospitalized at Royal Vista Specialists, while the others are receiving intensive outpatient treatment with daily fluids, medications, and around-the-clock monitoring.

It’s heartbreaking watching puppies this young fight so hard just to survive. They’re babies who should be playing, sleeping in a pile together, and never knowing what it’s like to be abandoned or critically ill.

We’re a small nonprofit, and the medical costs are adding up incredibly fast. If anyone would like to help, you can make a donation directly to Royal Vista Specialists by calling (970) 825-5975 on behalf of Woof & Willow Puppy Rescue.

Even if you’re not able to donate, sharing this post or simply keeping these little ones in your thoughts means more than you know.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring about dogs who had no one else.

❤️ Dana

Baker Dorm Single

Hi, I was assigned a single in Baker and have no idea what I’m expecting coming in. Does anyone have any photos/descriptions on what it looks like and how much space I would actually have?

I would love to know if I’d be able to fit a small futon for friends to sit on/sleep over.

When do MS CS students usually start applying for grader positions at CU Boulder?

hello,
i am about to start my second year in the MS in Computer Science program at CU Boulder, and I am interested in getting a grader position for the upcoming academic year.

back in May and June, i reached out to a few professors to ask about grading opportunities. Most of them replied saying it was too early and that I should wait, but none of them mentioned when they actually start hiring or when I should reach out again.

for those who have been graders before:

  • when do professors usually start looking for graders for the Fall semester?
  • is there a template email you could share with me (comments or dm, anything's fine)
  • should I email professors again in July, early August, or wait until classes begin?
  • are grader positions mostly filled through emails to professors, or is there another application process I should be aware of?

i would appreciate ANY AND ALL advice or experiences from current or former graders.

thanks ^^

what's the moment Boulder went from a school you attend to a place you love

between the mountains and the campus and the people there's usually a turning point where it clicks. for some it's day one, for others it takes a year. when did that happen for you and what was going on?

Visiting a conference at the university in August and looking for a place to stay

Hi there!

My girlfriend (30) has been selected to present her research at UC Boulder. (I'm very proud of her!) The conference is from August 5th to 10th, and she's currently looking for a room. However, the prices (on Booking.com/Airbnb/etc.) are a bit above her budget.

As many times before (with varying degrees of success), I'm turning to Reddit to see if I can help find a solution. Might there be people in this group who won't be there around that time and would be open to subletting it for a reasonable fee? It doesn't necessarily have to be all the days, she's quite flexible.

Or do you have tips on finding affordable accommodation in Boulder around that time?

Just send me a direct message if you want to get in touch. :) Many thanks in advance!

cold weather wear recs?

so I’m from Southern California and have lived here my whole life. I’ve visited places with snowy/cold weather but I’ve never been to Boulder in the winter. I would love some ideas of what outerwear/layers are recommended and also what shoes, especially in terms of practical everyday campus wear. I’m open to different price ranges :)

SDSU or CU Boulder

Hi. I am worried that I made the wrong choice of choosing SDSU as an incoming freshman. I have orientation in July and I’ve already found my roommates and everything but I grew up in Colorado and the more I look into CU Boulder the more I think I should’ve committed there. I would also get in state tuition for CU. I’m going in with a major in poli sci but I want to switch it to business. Can anybody tell me their opinions on these schools and what they would do in my position?
