Context: in the year of the broken trinity, a massive heretical assault attacks new antioch

As the colossal armored column of Heretics was approaching New Antioch it seemed like nothing could stopit. The Duke of New Antioch planned for one last stand and sent out a call for warriors from all over the Levant. He promised that everyone who fought in this final battle would have all their sins forgiven and be blessed into heaven on their death. A numberless host of Pilgrims were amassed, all carrying the Great Banner of New Antioch and chanting the Duke's name as they marched towards the foe.

Unfortunately this great host had no chance against the armored legions of Sacrilege-Class Tanks and Dread Artillery, they weren't meant to. These Pilgrims who had come to die in the Name of New Antioch and the Lord were not valiant heroes who would stop the Heretic Legions, they were bait. Meant to hold the armored column in place while the Duke enacted his true plan.

The Duke had combat engineers and sappers placed upon the Patricius Dam holding back the Great Lake of New Antioch. The mighty structure collapsed under the thunder of satchel charges and great deluge of water rampaged towards battlefield.

Pilgrim and Heretic alike were drowned beneath millions of gallons of water or pulled under the sucking nightmare of mud the plains had become. Tanks became trapped in the mire unable to free themselves from the chaos. The skys darkened with Faithful aircraft and a great hail of bombs fell from the heavens, annihilating any who managed to survive the flood.

On behalf of eligos, the beaches here are very nice for the subs!

While the Supreme Pontiff retains the spiritual leadership of Western and Central Europa, the Church war effort is delegated to twelve dedicated War Cardinals, each responsible for an important area of the Faithful dominions. War Cardinal Domenico Alidosi of the Papal States is a vigorous, charismatic and aggressive frontline commander.

The War Cardinal is responsible for the defence of the Papal States against the encroaching threat of the Heretic mainland invasion force that has reached the Italian peninsula. Here the Faithful struggle to contain the artificial monstrosities of the legions of Eligos, As the automaton soldiers and war machines need little to no supplies, they present an extremely difficult enemy to dislodge from the areas they have taken. He dreams of retaking Venice, the ancestral home of his family, but with the vast effort required in maintaining New Antioch he has found it difficult to muster enough forces for a campaign against Great Duke Eligos and his mechanical horrors.

And this is why her troops love her

The Free State of Prussia is replete with noble bloodlines, with many able to trace their roots all the way back to the Teutonic Order founded in the wake of the First Heresy. The Von Goltz family is one such lineage and its scion, Frau Frederica, was not content to simply rest on the laurels of history; she longed to elevate her family’s legacy and earn a coveted place in the ranks of the Stosstruppen. For the longest time, women had traditionally been, if not forbidden, at least discouraged, from seeking such positions, but Frederica immediately set out to challenge this. She worked tirelessly to hone her warfighting skills, learning to shoot, brawl, and duel with a variety of swords. The most grizzled of veterans and skilled blademasters tutored her day and night for many years until she took to the field as a yeoman in the ranks of the 6th Gardekorps.

A decade of war saw her earn a plentiful array of scars as well as a rapid rise through the ranks and the devotion of her fellow soldiers. In battle, she was always to be found wherever the fighting was bloodiest, **rising to become Hauptmann after picking up the the Tank-Splitter Sword of her slain commander and disemboweling the arrogant Hell-duelist who had beheaded him. This feat of valour alone would have earned her elevation to high command, but Frau Hauptmann Frederica Von Goltz had no desire to leave the battlefield for grand castles far behind the front lines.** At battle’s eve, Frederica prays to her patron saints and dons handcrafted armour before polishing the orichalcum-alloy blade of her sword, ready to cut down anyone or anything that stands before her.

"I also get powerfull iron wall, he doesnt, great success!"

Context:

In the battle of Bir al-Abed, the Mamluks stopped the Heretic forces at the edge of Sinai, preventing the entry of Shaitan’s forces into Egypt proper. Hope elated the populace, who saw the victory as a sign that the Ever-Providing One had decreed that the Mamluk sultanate would be just as safe as the Iron Wall for Those Who Believe. In the following years, Cairo’s Dar al-’Ilm, the famous rival to Baghdad’s own fabled House of Wisdom, developed the first of the legendary automaton horses, which combined metals from the Iron Wall and orichalcum alloys bought from the Franks at great expense.

Eventually the Heretic lords turned their gaze elsewhere and went on to conquer lands in eastern Asia beyond the Iron Wall, and the Mamluks were given a respite to reorganise the realm and marshal its defences. The relationship between Cairo and New Damascus remained cordial yet cool, and as the Sultan of the Iron Wall never claimed the title of Caliph, the Mamluks maintained a policy of ambiguous sovereignty, never recognising the suzerainty of the Iron Sultanate.

Along with foreign trade, the power and influence of the merchant princes in the mamluk sultanate also grew, and many of the people of the Sultanate fell into deep debt, forced into uneven contracts often signed away from the prying eyes of the gadi. Eventually the merchant alliances grew a power base of their own within the Mamluk realm. A strangling web of debt and poverty ensnared many, with desperate men and women signing contracts that they did not understand or could even read. Occupied with military matters and reliant on the funds and supplies provided by trade and the merchants, the Mamluks did not uncover the rot within their own realm in time. And as the night fell, the merchants who chafed under the rule of the warriors found a new master: the great King of Greed.

AND EGYPT WAS DOOMED

Many within the Sultanate became desperate and sought new funds from a shadowy financial organisation known as the Ten Golden Horns, who clandestinely used the symbol of the ancient king Iskander crowned with horns as their mark. They offered large loans in exchange for future physical labour. They claimed no riba would be charged, as these loans were Qard al-Hasan according to the agents of the organisation. Since these transactions happened away from the eyes of the courts (which the Golden Horns claimed were corrupt), instead of paperwork the terms were inked into the skins of the debtors, so they would always be present in the case of any disputes. With no alternative ways to escape grinding poverty, a great many accepted this offer, despite stern warnings of ulema against modification of the body in any way, and became affluent overnight. These debtors began to flaunt their newly-gained wealth in public, acting as unwitting recruiters for the Golden Horns. Eventually their numbers became so great that the Mamluk sultan prepared to investigate the source of this newfound opulence, but just as warrants were being signed, alarms bells rang and foefires were lit at the beacons of Alexandria. In a surprise attack they had long prepared for, the armies of Jahannam fell upon Egypt.

The Mamluks rushed to defend their ports and borders, emptying their garrisons and deploying their famed automaton cavalry to stop the invasion. But as the defenders of Egypt were drawn to their borders, the final step in the conspiracy of the Ten Golden Horns was finally put into play. The lords of the Golden Horns, gathered their debtors to the great plazas and souks of Alexandria and Cairo, spreading a rumour that they were about to annul the loans due to the war.

Instead of relief from their debts, the debtors were greeted by insidious poison gas unleashed upon the gathered masses of people. As the noxious fumes spread, people fell to the ground in agony, but there was no passing on to al-Ākhirah. The debtors found themselves trapped in their convulsing bodies. The hidden clause in the contract ensured that the physical labour that they had agreed to would last for eternity.
