i've been listening to "the rot" non-stop, and honestly i can't seem to find another tune that could replicate my love for this song. does anyone have any similar song suggestions? i'm willing to explore anything, just trying to expand my taste more.
Can anyone help identify some of the equipment used in this live set. Does anyone know how the equipment changed between projects like from Hype Williams to Blue Iverson & more recent projects?
for two years i was deciding which of his albums to get tattoed and ended up choosing the iconic Zushi Dragon ( my fav album is The Narcissist II)
im starting to listen to dean blunt a lot and some of my favs r slacker, the rot, molly and aquafina, and rinsed which are all very popular and im looking for so under hyped songs from him that give the same energy

Lucre in my opinion is amongst the best of the best when it comes to Dean Blunt projects. I saw a clip the other day of Elias performing 5 live. And it just made me want to ask what your thoughts and opinions are on the live performances?

Quite short but amazing production, really smooth like the old rnb. very catchy, lofi and groovy little soul album. Minimalism and lofi prod makes it really hypnagogic
Title can be mistaken for 2 different words:
- Hot EP
- Hotep meaning - to be at peace
- Hotep - Subculture: An African American subculture rooted in Black pride and Afrocentrism, drawing inspiration from ancient Egypt which can be a loose reference to Lauryn Hill's hotep inclination
Perfect for - lazy morning, evening, study, background soundtrack for peaceful walks
Album Cover features Lauryn Hill, image sourced from The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
there was a press release from someone involved with blue iverson saying how the project was made as a response to the large amount of male dominated R&B/Soul music releasing around that time (2015-17) and how misogynistic it is. you can make your own conclusions of what having lauryn hill as a png file means in reference to that.
- two notes on the last four seconds of the song Who Shot Luscious Lyon? was sampled by Choker in El Dorado
- Luscious Lyon is a fictional character from Empire 2015-2020
- Jennah's Interlude samples: Let Me Down Easy - The Isley Brothers
-
Theory - Connection b/w Hotep & Cypher
Blue Iverson's Hotep & Babyfather's Cypher have been rumoured to have some sort of connection
First track from Hotep is Coy Boy and there is a sample in Cypher of a boy saying "Coy boy" before the inverted audio track begins
the more connections (I think) I've made. For example, the first 2 tracks on Cypher and Hotep run at roughly the same length. I've tried playing them simultaneously and it sort of works sometimes but overall not really. Both albums are also about the same length, Hotep being just a little longer. Also, the singer on Cypher 8 is definitely the vocalist on Hotep

Was played at the antagonist tour DJ set
Hey guys
I will preface my question by saying that I’m not an OG fan of DB and his associated projects and his aliases.
My question is: Was Sinn Fein considered a teaser of what was to come in The Narcissist II?
It’s such an eerie song but I can see how Dean and Inga thought it could be a good teaser for The Narcissist II.
What do you all think?
untitled - hype williams LP alt cover. 10 of the original 300 presses of this vinyl had a damaged cover, so they were given this alternative cover. this is 1 out of 10 in the world!
