Playhub Metadata | A new all-in-one plugin for metadata and retroachievements

Hi everyone,

I’m happy to share Playhub Metadata, a Decky Loader plugin that brings metadata and RetroAchievements to non-Steam games.

It scans your non-Steam shortcuts, fetches game information from the web, and makes those games feel more like native Steam games in Big Picture.

You can download it from here!
https://github.com/ZazaMastro/Playhub-Metadata

Main features include:

  • Fetch and scanning for missing metadata for non-Steam games.
  • Add game descriptions, release dates, genres, developers, publishers, ratings, and store categories.
  • Fill the Community game tab using IGN images, RAWG screenshots, and YouTube videos.
  • Add RetroAchievements support for emulated games.
  • Per-game metadata editor from the game options menu.

You can open the plugin directly from the options menu of a non-Steam game by selecting "Playhub Metadata...". From there, you can search metadata, apply a result, edit details manually, remove saved metadata, and configure RetroAchievements for that specific game.

Enter your RetroAchievements username and Web API key, then let the plugin automatically detect the game. If automatic detection does not work, you can simply manually paste the RetroAchievements game ID for that specific title.

RetroAchievements feature could be enabled or disabled (it's intended for the ones who wants to try other plugins for Retroachievements).

Auto-detection works best with Steam ROM Manager shortcuts.

I think that's it guys!
Will post probably later this week with some plugins minor updates.

Ciao!

Elden Ring and Resident Evil Requiem don't run anymore

Hey! So, i think these games are not working anymore cause of LSFG-VK or Decky Framegen, but even the unpatch command and uninstalling lsfg-vk dont work.
I tried to use them in these 2 games but then they just dont run anymore. Any help?

ZazaMastro's Windows plugins update

https://preview.redd.it/deoiqcpol51h1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2832c93362bfd8f99c0460d06725478ceca384a

Hi people!

First of all, I want to thank you very much for the affection you have shown me and for your appreciation of my work here on Reddit and on Discord. I'm really happy that so many people are interested in having a console experience on PC with Steam and Playhub plugins.

So let's cut the chatter (or "bando alle ciance" like we say in Italy) and let's dive into the updates of the Playhub plugins.

IMPORTANT: Please uninstall the old plugin version before install the new one. Do not simply update to avoid problems. You will not lose any of your data.

If you don't want things to break just use the good old steam.cfg method to stop Steam updates here, last answer. You will still get all the functions, online, achievement, friends, store, workshops, community... Everything. The only difference is that Steam will not update the damn Big Picture mode and won't break things. Someone agrees with this method, someone not (personally I don't care, this is just an advice).

Playhub Gaming Mode

https://github.com/ZazaMastro/Playhub-Gaming-Mode/releases/tag/v1.0

Your new gaming console is your PC.
Discreet, customizable, clean. How a true console gaming experience should be.

https://preview.redd.it/u73tjy2ql51h1.png?width=2238&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd3399b81c8a74d09823a4d3066ff43f33c626c3

What's changed:

  • Added startup logo for the Gaming Mode splash screen that stays visible until Steam Big Picture is fullscreen (in the same style of Launch Curtain, as you will see below).
  • Added some logo presets that can be chosen in GamingMode.exe: Playhub (default), ASUS, Lenovo, MSI, PlayStation, ROG, Steam Deck, SteamOS, and Xbox.
  • Added custom Gaming Mode startup apps for tools like Afterburner, AutoActions, and similar utilities like requested from the community.
  • Added an even better borderless fullscreen handling for loading windows and foreground apps in Gaming Mode.
  • Added default compatibility for ThemeDeck helper tools: yt-dlp, ffmpeg, and ffprobe.
  • Improved PluginLoader startup order so Decky always starts before Steam Big Picture.
  • Improved Desktop/Gaming mode switching reliability.
  • Improved Sunshine, input, and controller compatibility services in Gaming Mode.
  • Fixed duplicate PluginLoader startup when returning to Desktop Mode.
  • Fixed several layout, DPI, and text clipping issues in the Windows app and installer.

EDIT: This plugin is a Windows exclusive, so if you are on Linux it's not gonna work.

Launch Curtain

https://github.com/ZazaMastro/Launch-Curtain/releases/tag/v0.3.8

The Playhub Gaming Mode best friend.
Now the Launch Curtain supports game logos and recognizes correctly the majority of splash screens and "unloaded" game windows, in order to hide only when the game is actually loaded and elegantly fades out just like on a console.

https://preview.redd.it/mf3smgffm51h1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=8c4743e9f3aa3e075546507b1505bd0544ed4bf4

What's changed:

  • The ZIP package is now correctly installable on every DeckyLoader version.
  • Shows the Steam game logo when available (supports also custom SteamGridDB logos).
  • Falls back to the included Playhub logo when no game logo is found (custom logos are also supported).
  • Hides only after the real game window reaches fullscreen, or when the timeout is reached.
  • More compatible also with splash screens (example: Forza Horizon 5 splash screen).
  • More compatible also with not full loaded windows (now the Curtain will hide only when the game reaches the fullscreen or borderless fullscreen status).
  • Timeout can now be set from 5 to 60 seconds (I strongly suggest to use 30 seconds, but it's your choice and depends from your drive speed and the games you're actually trying to open).
  • Curtain can be hide with ESC key or common controller B/Circle buttons.
  • The Windows overlay is now shown without taking focus from the game, which should avoid audio issues in some titles.

EDIT: This plugin is a Windows exclusive, so if you are on Linux it's not gonna work.

TrailerHero

https://github.com/ZazaMastro/TrailerHero/releases/tag/v0.1.6

You asked for it and you got it:
Trailers should be seen in 4K, don't you agree?

https://preview.redd.it/u1v26wshm51h1.png?width=851&format=png&auto=webp&s=21afb655f059ace7af4c09c2013d52fab15d0fea

What's changed:

  • Added Steam and YouTube quality controls with one global Quality option: 720p, 1080p, or 2160p.
  • Tightened YouTube matching around the game title and prefers 4K/2160p searches.
  • Improved Steam trailer quality handling, including higher-quality movie and adaptive stream candidates when Steam exposes them.
  • Made YouTube fallback and automatic YouTube search always on by default.
  • Removed the delay selector; trailers now wait 3 seconds by default.
  • Simplified UI (less useless options, more clarity)

ThemeDeck

https://github.com/ZazaMastro/ThemeDeck-Windows/releases/tag/v3.0

Your games soundtracks have never been so good to hear.
You can now auto-assign music for non-Steam games, normalize songs volume and upmix the sound 7.1.

https://preview.redd.it/ihy0rejdq51h1.png?width=724&format=png&auto=webp&s=f72d4d9ced42c92f517cbcbe814f6b9e32f49c28

What's changed:

  • Added support non-Steam games in missing-track detection and auto-assignment.
  • Added optional FFmpeg normalization for downloaded tracks.
  • Added 7.1 upmix option. Keep in mind that files will be heavy to handle and their size will increase (but will sound awesome if you have an home theater surround setup).
  • UI simplification
  • Improved controller focus/navigation across plugin controls (no more mouse needed!).
  • Improved automatic search queries for game music using Game OST Soundtrack.
  • Ignored , ®, and © symbols in game title searches.
  • Added visual FFmpeg feedback during automatic assignment.
  • Added lists for games without music and games with music.
  • Highlighted non-Steam games and normalized tracks in the lists.
  • Added delete all music option for ThemeDeck-downloaded only audio files with confirmation.
  • Restored the game options entry: Choose ThemeDeck music... on recent Steam versions.

EDIT: This plugin is a Windows exclusive, so if you are on Linux it's not gonna work.

People asks for translations!

Cause not all the global population speaks italian.

For the plugins Weather, RSS News Hub and Playhub Surround, I updated the localisation in the following languages:

  • English
  • Italian
  • French
  • Spanish
  • Portuguese
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • German
  • Dutch
  • Ukrainian
  • Chinese
  • Japanese

So guys that's it!

If you missed the original post with the full plugins list and the guide to move the first steps with DeckyLoader on Windows check it out here!

Thanks again for the support!

Bella lì!

Why does this thing break daily?

I just bought a legion go and installed SteamOS. I installed Decky Loader and it's awesome, but my God, I feel like this thing breaks after I install 3 plugins. It's really annoying to have to uninstall and reinstall every couple of days.

Anyone have this issue?

Deck Shelves is officially on the Decky Store

As the title says, Deck Shelves is on the Decky Store!! It's official! [1] Way to go u/santojon!! And ive said it a few times beforw, but THANK YOU SO MUCH for graciously releasing this "personal project" for those of us that has no idea we needed it lol

I'm not associated with this plugin in any way, but have been following and using since first mention of release thru the github

It adds the Shelves from main og steam app under (or replacing) the Recently Played, pairs WONDERFULLY with Tab Master for quick shelf importing, and plays nice with most css overlays. You can completely remove the Whats New stuff under your games if you choose ;)

This has changed my gaming in two ways

First, it has allowed me to curate collections on the front page for a modular arcade cabinet I've been conceiving (or - ease of use from an arcade stick) [2]

And the second, in pic 3, Smart Shelves. Auto populating and can be set to refresh (or be done manually)

I do Roulette (with filters set for games installed and having to filter out steamworks and proton stuffs) and there's a random 10 games to choose from (I'm really into emulation & indies, so I've got over 200 smaller titles in the pot)

And Best Of Unplayed utilzes meta scores with my backlog. Already found some amazing games lost in the 21yr of steam/bundle purchases lol

Helps with analasys paralysis, but forces me to try new things (also managing to pull me away from tweaking and customizing for actually playing... Wild, eh)

Speaking of Hidden Gems, UnMetal is fking great! I really enjoyed UnEpic but never gave Metal a chance (never got into the og metal gear games). Genuine laughs from the jump. Big recoomend

Decky loader unable to work

So i get on my steam deck and I realized at decky Loder is missing and broken. So I look up videos in YouTube, and I found a few things, but it made me remove the whole loader. And like, reinstall it, but I did it with the pre release. And then I tried a release of it instead of prelease. I have no idea what's going on now. I can't install it at all. I tried to use K console, and it just fails completely. Can anyone help me with this?
