We scanned the I2P network and found a suspicious cluster of 58 Chinese routers — version-locked, floodfill-flagged, yet invisible
Over June 29–July 1, 2026, I ran five i2pd floodfill instances from three vantage points (Poland, China Unicom ×2) and passively scanned the I2P DHT. Found 20,701 unique routers globally. Among them, 58 routers from mainland China stood out in ways that don't look random.
What makes this cluster unusual:
43× enrichment on version 0.9.66 — 79.3% of the CN cluster runs this exact version, vs. only 1.8% globally. A single version shouldn't dominate any organic router population this heavily.
Floodfill flags everywhere, zero participation — 27–36% declare floodfill capability (vs. 14–20% global baseline), yet none were ever observed functioning as floodfills by our instances. The flags are declared, not honored.
82.8% share a near-identical RouterCaps template (XfR/XRG pattern) — looks like copy-paste provisioning.
- 46.2% hosted on Alibaba Cloud (AS37963). No knownRouters entries, no family declarations, ongoing IP rotation.
Four routers are China-vantage-only — reachable from inside the GFW, but unreachable from Singapore and Tor exit nodes. TCP RST/timeout behavior consistent with selective path filtering. These nodes simply don't exist from outside China.
We're careful with language: we describe this as consistent with coordinated, template-based provisioning — not as attribution to any specific actor. We don't know who runs these, or why. But the data is the data.
Methodological note — we parse the binary RouterInfo at two distinct caps layers (AddressCaps per transport vs. global RouterCaps). Prior I2P measurement papers didn't disentangle this, and it matters when you're trying to distinguish what a router says it can do from what it actually does.

Did I get phished?
Haven’t used this in years since I got sober but I was having a small party and get together and decided to go back to my trusty website I used to go on, totally forgot about phishing links so wassnt very cautious. Went to onion taxi
The site was being a little too weird thinking back, no phishing protection making me retype part of the link, I couldn’t click on vendors names and look at their profile and certain parts of the search engine wassnt working. I figured onion taxi was Akin to tor taxi, but tor taxi didn’t have my website on there. I put btc in my wallet and haven’t seen anything in the notifications about it receiving my payment, it’s been 2 hours and ususallly goes in 20 minutes

Finding new onion links?
I know many search engines but I was wondering if there are ways to "discover" new links that are linked to very often if at all? I feel like setting up my own web crawler *could* be an option but that also sounds complicated (although i could learn) and I've not used the dark web enough to know much more than just finding and using search engines.

I wrote a song for Lisa from BLACKPINK after she posted the same shape I photographed in Japan

Onion link sites that still work
I’ve been messing around with a few onion link sites lately, mostly just for general browsing and trying to find stuff that isn’t completely dead.
This one is basically a link directory with all kinds of stuff. It also has some articles about security, safer browsing, encryption, and basic privacy tips, which is pretty useful if you’re not trying to click around blindly like an idiot.
Onion link sites are always hit or miss, and half the time you still have to check things yourself because a lot of links are dead, fake, or just weird. But compared to some of the abandoned crap out there, this one actually felt usable.
If anyone knows other active sites that are still maintained, I’d appreciate the contribution.

Been using this onion search engine for a while now
Found Onio around 6 months ago. I think I actually shared the link here before, but I’ve kept using it on and off since then, so now I can give a better opinion on it. It’s basically a simple search engine for onion sites. Not some sketchy-ass link dump, just search and results. Pretty easy to use.
What surprised me the most is that a lot of the links actually work. Most onion search engines I’ve tried are full of dead pages, fake crap, weird redirects, or just abandoned junk, so this one felt cleaner. The site is also light as hell. Loads fast, no annoying popups, no ads screaming in your face, no bullshit redirects. Just search and go.
Not saying it’s perfect or anything, but for general onion browsing it’s been pretty useful. No market/illegal shit, just curious if anyone else here has used it or knows similar search engines that are still maintained.

Missing after dark web obsession
Hello all, I am unfamiliar with any of this and am desperate at this point. I have a family friend who has gone missing and was randomly extremely fearful for his life before disappearing. He is a professional and outgoing and seemed to be experiencing extreme psychosis believing that “they” were out to get him and trying to kill him. This comes after a period of him being extremely interested in searching the dark web and looking to expose govt secrets, and stuff to do with 1sra€L.
I don’t know anything about the deep/dark web, what could he have gotten himself into? We are in the process of looking for him and investigating. Should I post this to other forums? Thank you.
