Hey r/denvermusic — every Sunday I host an instrumental open jam at Goosetown Tavern on Colfax (3242 E Colfax), 7:00–10:30 PM. Jazz, funk, blues, deep grooves, all levels, no cover.

How it runs: sign up on the list by the mixing board when you arrive (get there early for a good spot). Sets are 3 songs — there's a recommended songlist for newcomers, or call your own and improvise. You show up, we mix you in with players you've never met, and you spend the night making music with strangers — honestly the best part. Great way to meet other Denver musicians, sharpen your ears comping with new people, and find folks to start something with.

Backline is provided so you can travel light: drums and keys are there, plus guitar amps (Quilter Aviator Cub + Orange RT35) and a Fender Rumble bass amp. Just bring your own axe.

So far the band is me and my producer. He does electronic drums, synths, and other stuff for our cover songs. For our live shows, I'm planning on using the electronic drums, kind of in the spirit of the drum machines Gener and Deaner would play over in the early days. Also in the spirit of ween, we are going for maximum genre-diversity, and are really looking to transform the songs we play into something new while still retaining the essence of the tunes. I'll be at the Wheelchair Sports Camp album release show at Meow Wolf, and currently have an extra ticket. Hope to see some of you there. I’m a bit waffling on one of the PurityRing shows as well, but they are a bit out of the way, though the Boulder theater was actually a lot of fun (could be because I made friends with the bar staff). There are a lot of other great shows as well. If I wasn’t already going to a show on Friday I’d probably be at the Jaguar Stevens show at Skylark.

I saw that Blucifer's First Rodeo and UMS announced the line-ups so I'll do my best to get those added. Since they are so large it may take a while, I'll also include a playlist for each festival.
