At last! A cheap remedy for underarm smells in clothes

For years, I’ve tried everything to get rid of persistent underarm smells in clothes. I’d have to finally resort to throwing them away.

However, I decided to finally try an old fashioned remedy of making a thick paste from white vinegar and baking soda and spread it liberally on the underarms of my shirts. I let it sit on there at least a day.

And then I washed and dried them and voila! No smell whatsoever! My old favorite shirts have been given a second life.

Hope this is helpful :)

*Edit: I know the baking soda and vinegar basically neutralize each other. I’m not saying they create some magical cleaning chemical. 😂
I’m saying the method works. I make a paste with them, put it directly on the stinky underarms, let it sit for at least a day, and then wash the shirt. The BO is gone.
My understanding is that the combination helps loosen the sweat, body oils, deodorant residue and odor that get trapped in the fibers, and at least 24-hour contact time gives it plenty of time to work before the washing machine removes everything.
So maybe the vinegar and baking soda aren't magically working together chemically. But the paste + the long soaking/contact time absolutely seems to work. It’s worth trying!

P.S. I don’t sweat very much. It’s like a hormonal/stress type of BO that even Secret Clinical deodorant doesn’t work on completely.
But, I just now came across this article saying that the source of the odor (bacteria) can be removed by washing underarms with Benzoyl Peroxide wash, so I’m gonna try that!🤞

Dove Smells Overpowering

Dove deodorant smells overpowering. Everytime I put on dove deodorant it smells as strong as perfume. What’s going on? I used to add the littlest bit and still smelt it.

No deodorant works for me

I’m so confused. Every time I buy deodorant, I try a different brand. I used to want the newer brands, like Naked, because of the bad rep some of the OGs were getting. However, I gave up because I couldn’t tolerate getting stinky within an hour, especially since I have a lot of nice clothing that I’d really rather not feel like I have to wash every single time I put on. My issue is not sweating excessively, though I have no problem with using antiperspirant. My issue is SMELL—not horrible armpit odor that’s horribly distracting. But—persistent, dependable, run of the mill BO that is nevertheless annoying and stays on clothes. What actually works?!??!? But doesn’t stain clothes? I’m tired of beating my deodorant.

Best carpe deodorant scent for women?

I see a few old posts of these - wondering if anyone has new or different opinions?

I have tried clean sport and lavender citrus. Clean sport smells exactly like old spice which I can honestly live with. But I’m so surprised that lavender citrus honestly smells… masculine? I know I could just go with unscented but does anyone know if works just as well? The product certainly works for the sweat part - I would also like to smell nice too - just not so scented that I may overwhelm or overpower my perfume.

Thank you kindly.

Which one should I get?

So I have a few grandkids that are into sports and can get a little funky for my old school liking. I’m stuck between 2 deodorants I’ve researched. Duradry and Carpe, Duradry arrived today after my grands went to school.
Why one would you get?

Anyone tried secret clinical stress response?

Ran out of the generic I think old spice I was using which always caused rashes in my pits. Wanted to try something more effective and reddit said secret clinical but I just bought it and looking at it outside if a cage (screw you Walmart locking everything up). Im realizing it's marketed/for women. Will it work/be as effective for me since I'm a man? And is there anything better once this runs out since it's the smaller version it will probably only last a few months if that. Says 100 hr but we will see, I usually have to apply at night and morning each day with old spice.

med sweats

Hi! this is very embarrassing but I am at my wits end with sweating LMAO. Long story short I have never been a huge sweater but I am on ssris now and I sweat like a whore in church not just from my underarms either it is my whole body it is constantly pouring and I smell terrible. I eat a very clean diet so its not that. I was wondering if anyone has any recs for a full body deodorant as well as an underarm deodorant that can help with atleast some of it. (ps mens deodorant gives me chemical burns under my arms i have sensitive skin rip me lol)

Anyone else have deodorant completely give up by lunchtime?

I’ve been paying way more attention to the difference between odor control and actually reducing sweat. I’m posting with a connection to carpe ,and their underarm antiperspirant is obviously one option I know well, but I’m interested in how people with genuinely heavy sweating approach this. Do you stick with one antiperspirant consistently or rotate products when something seems to stop working?

After years I finally found the deodorant that works for me

F31
At 14 I started getting rashes with deodorants, they got so bad that my skin would sleep, my skin was rough and red and it burned. Through out the years I tried dozens of brands. Scented, unscented, aluminum free, baking soda free, natural, crystal deodorant, spray on, pastes, lemon, magnesium spray… You name it I’ve tried it. Some deodorants would help but then I’d be smelling like armpits.
Till my sister got me Lume deodorant and worked but I still kinda smelled. Their extra strength line was great and helped so much but I wasn’t a fan of the scents on that line. I saw that they started carrying Mando and found out Mando is part of the Lume brand! Been using their Pro Sport for months now and I love it!!!

Help Finding Effective Deoderant

This has been driving me nuts for a while now, all I'm looking for is a Deoderant that masks odor and doesn't stain my clothes. If it reduces sweat thats a plus but don't really care about that at this point.

The only Deoderant I've tried that works for me in terms of stopping odor is the Dove men +care rub on. Issue is all my t-shirts get badly stained. White patches on dark shirts and yellow/brown stains on white/light shirts.

So far I've tried:

• Sure non stop protection sensitive rub on (made me smell worse)

• Sure non stop protection active dry spray on (doesn't work)

• Fussy (made me smell REALLY BAD, research said that your body has to "purge build up" or something for like 4 weeks which I cannot do)

• Most recent contender, Dove men +care advanced invisible dry (thought it was working at first but it definitely doesn't)

I don't care if it has stuff in it that isn't particularly good for you, don't like all the non recyclable packaging but needs must ig. Looking at the ingredients it looks like Aluminium Zinconium is the thing that works so if anybody have used any with that active ingredient that didn't stain their clothes thats probably my best bet. Also needs to be available in the UK haha

But yeah, I'm fed up having to either be self conscious about dirty armpit stains or body odor...

Whilst you're here too, anybody know how to get Aluminium Zinconium stains out of clothes? 🧍‍♂️

Any tried Carpe with free remedy vitC and Clean towels

I have heard lot of mix reaction about Carpe. I wanted to try it and I saw on target of $6 ish but with this combo I get remedy vitamin C serum and Clean Akin clean towels too.. I have very bad acne so I’m very tempted by the free gifts. The serum itself costs much. I know they automatically put you in a subscription and it has some 5 step cancellation (was looking though a previous Reddit post) but is it worth it? How did Carpe work on people? I sweat decent nothing to crazy I don’t like the smell of sweat. And the ads are compelling me.

Deodorant cream(?) recommendation

Looking for a deodorant/antiperspirant for my chest during workout classes. I would prefer deodorant so it doesn’t stop me from sweating, but want one that doesn’t just mask the bo with a cheap smelling other scent. Is there deodorant that can actually kill the bacteria/stop it from growing without being an antiperspirant? Thanks!

questions for nerds

may be a dumb question so I apologize in advance. can I use both a deodorant+antiperspirant spray (Dove Men’s care specifically) and a roll on deodorant (Arm&Hammer’s natrual deodorant) or will it just be unnecessary and cause moré bad then good?

And also is there any good brands for specifically antiperspirants? I tried looking in my local pharmacy but apparently all the sole antiperspirants are not good.
thanks 🙏

Clinical strength that does not cause stains

Currently use secret clinical but rubs off on all my clothes, and it's not that effective. Any recommendations for antiperspirants that don't rub off but keep stronger sweat at bay? Or maybe i'm not applying it right

Why is natural deodorant working better than anything else on me

Hello! I’m (29F) pretty sweaty + taking SSRIs. My sweat smells badly and I’ve never found something that works: from antiperspirant to deodorant, nothing stops the sweat and the odor. Until now.

My brother came to visit last week and brought with him a can of natural deodorant his housemate makes, consisting of coconut oil, baking soda and essential oil. He is like me, sweats and smells, and told me that this thing keeps him odorless. I didn’t believe him but I tried it anyways. Well: it works. It doesn’t stop the sweat, obviously, but I smell of nothing!!!!!! I know the ingredients have antibacterial properties, but how does this work better than everything I’ve tried until now????

I need someone to explain this to me. I haven’t changed my hygiene routine apart from the deodorant. I’ve never been a fan of natural cosmetics as I find most people who make them to fearmonger and talk shit about chemichals and I don’t appreciate that.

Anyways, if you’re like me, try this recipe and see if it works wonders in your case too. Thank you all!!!

New BDS Friendly Natural Deodorant Brand

If anyone is looking for BDS friendly natural deodorant in the US, I recently launched Hurriyah. I had the deo manufactured by a contract manufacturer in the US. I had it formulated without Israeli magnesium hydroxide sourced from the Dead Sea/ICL Group (popular Israeli company for such magnesium products). Check it out at hurriyahco.com .

good smelling (preferably gender neutral scent) antiperspirant?

as the title says i'm looking for recs! specifically something a guy could pull off but thats not a stereotypical mens cologne scent. i genuinely cant stand most mens fragrances, i think they smell awful and make me feel sick. & antiperspirant only please, imo deodorants are useless and just perfume sticks. i'm currently using degree ultra clear black and white and its horrible lol. it smells really bad & its not clear like... at all. its legit WHITE. no idea who approved calling it ultra clear lol!

EDIT: PS, totally open to using womens!
