Silly research regarding Minion skin texture 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

There are two questions that have been plaguing our world for centuries; "what is life?", but mostly important...

WHAT TEXTURE DOES MINION SKIN HAVE????

So i have decided to do this silly little research (if you can call it that).

So far, i've gotten all kinds of answers from texture of a balloon, through texture of a slimy yoga ball, to texture of a potato dumpling and many many more.

But i need more answers. More thoughts and reasoning.

I wish to hear your takes, dear reddit people.🙂‍↕️✨️✨️

Gru has been in jail at some point?

In an absolute blink-and-miss-it scene, the third screen that Poppy pulls up is a news article on AVL Most Wanted. Gru is holding a black rectangular object with white writing in front of him. The background is hard to see but it's a drab color. He looks sad. The question is, when was this photo taken? It couldn't have been after the moon theft because the AVL was aware of the moon theft and didn't arrest him for it. Has he been AVL Most Wanted more than once, and after an earlier heist he did get arrested?

He's wearing his regular clothes so that suggests he was in jail and not in prison, but I wonder how he got out of jail.

despicable me vs megamind

just curious, which one do yall think is better, despicable me or megamind? i am going to get a lot of hate for this, but imo despicable me wins, i still really love megamind tho but despicable me is probably my favorite movie, its just so heartwarming and nostalgic even tho they came out the same year.

Something I noticed in the end credits of Minions and Monsters and how they name their minions

As you know, the minions have the most basic american/irish names ever, and we hear those minion names being used numerous times throughout all the sequels and prequels, and most illumiantion movies use the same names or atleast variations of those names

In the end credits of Minions and Monsters, we get a whole bunch of minion names, and they also gave us some variations of them like Bill/Billy, Nick/Nicolas, Milo/Milan, Peter/Pedro

Now I thought it was just something to just leave it at that, but I noticed how many names throughout the despicable me franchise and also the other illumination movies are either the same or variations, like for example, the piglets from Sing use names (or at least the male ones) that the minions have as well

And so I made a list of every male name (first slide), whether it be from a main or minor character or even written in the background and connected it to an existing minion name

I tend to ramble a lot. Basically, illumination has a "list" of names they like to regularly use for their characters, and I have connected most of them to the minions

Ok, now with this in mind, im gonna post a new version of the "every Minion name list" and now you know why I didn't include all of them

How Silas Ramsbottom tried to completely control Gru and the Minions but failed

While Ramsbottom's asserting control over Gru and the Minions starts off slowly in DM2 and increases in DM3, by DM4 it has become an attempt at a full-blown takeover.

When Gru arrives to infiltrate his old villain high school, he is not in his regular car with the "G" logo but a sleek, fast car AVL has provided him. He uses a bright, shiny AVL weapon rather than his trusty Freeze Ray. Gru eagerly flaunts his AVL agent ID to Maxime. So sometime between DM3 and DM4, the AVL gave Gru access to new technology. Even the Minions arrive in a shiny new car and then change out of their "G" logo overalls into serious suits and they have serious expressions.

All of the Minions are at the AVL, undergoing training to be agents. Then Ramsbottom selects the bravest volunteers, but none of them are brave so the only "volunteers" are the ones left at the front of the line while everyone else took a step back. Also, interesting that Ramsbottom did a variation on El Macho's plan: use a serum to transform the Minions to enhance their abilities. Ramsbottom doesn't know if it will work and the Minions might not survive. He refers to the Minions as "guinea pigs". Four of the Minions are scared of the mechanical claws that drag them into the chamber, so they did not want to undergo this experimentation.

The Minions' AVL training and the creation of the Mega Minions takes place while Gru and his family are in the town of Mayflower. Ramsbottom also has a special button in his office to be able to summon the Mega Minions.

But the Mega Minions are terrible superheroes, and Gru pulls off a heist with Poppy using improvised tools and an improvised weapon.

The cover of DM1 shows Gru smiling and looking happy. The cover of DM2 and DM3, Gru looks more and more discontent. The cover of DM4 he's holding an AVL weapon and looks downright cold. And there's a Minion in a suit and with an AVL weapon. Rather than Gru facing front, he's faced to the side. Only Junior looks happy. This happens to correspond with to the level of control the AVL exerts on Gru.

Gru and Poppy's heist is what finally disrupts the AVL's control of him, Gru fighting Maxime to get Junior back also does, and finally the talent show in the prison. The Mega Minions botching their superhero mission disrupts the AVL's control of them, and the Minions making a hole in the prison and joining the fun disrupts the AVL's control of them. A few of the Minions stay at AVL headquarters but many of them reunite with Gru. So by the end, Gru fights for his own reasons and in his own way, and the Minions continue to do their Minion things, and Ramsbottom dances to Gru and Maxime's song rather than continuing to try to exert further control over Gru and the Minions.

The real Monsters vs. Aliens (imo)

The final battle of Minions & Monsters (especially Dort's big moment) alone is already way better than the entire Monsters vs. Aliens movie back in 2009.

Now, I was really excited for Monsters vs. Aliens when I saw the poster, because the concept seemed so cool, but... even as a kid, I honestly wasn't that entertained nor satisfied. I feel like the biggest problem with Monsters vs. Aliens is that it never took advantage of its premise, as the plot just feels too much like a Susan women empowerment movie over anything else (and she is a bit of a Mary-Sue too). Even with all the action and stuff, it doesn't actually build up or lead to anything that would even make sense for the premise of Monsters vs. Aliens, and Susan hogged too much of the spotlight that the other Monsters and even the Aliens were heavily sidelined or just used as visual factor that gets diluted by what the movie's literal focus actually is (even characterizing almost every secondary character in ways that would shamelessly mix with the very unsatisfactory way they were sidelined). Like, the only real thing this movie focuses on is portraying Derek as an intentional one-dimensional self-absorbed former love interest as an obvious twist just to prop up Susan when it doesn't really feel like anything.

Even then, the humor is more or less typical in kids' movies, nothing clever or distinct for the movie's premise, and the supposedly epic action sequences too often feel washed out and lack imagination (both in ideas and even the fun factor).

The only thing about Monsters vs. Aliens that was truly amazing was the Robot Probe; if only the entire movie was as epic as his characterization alone, which was taken so seriously while having the most wow factor. Like, it makes me wish he wasn't killed off the way he did and contributed a more major role into the story, but... Susan is a spotlight hog.

What's with this Gru model?

I keep seeing this Gru 3D model in alot of memes and stuff. I think this originated from that one tie-in game they made for the first film, but I've always wondered why it didn't have his scarf
