So do tech companies really take freshers with good skills through interviews and technical rounds or is it mostly network and do company also look for dsa skills? Should I also start leetcoding or focus more on projects? Any tips

Hi everyone! I’ve created a website that might be useful to the people working in tech industry or anyone exploring Nepalese startups. This site showcases the startups their locations, what they’re all about and their current stages all neatly organized on a map and in a directory.

You can also submit a startup (we only go live with approved ones to maintain quality) or you can also request a data change if you spot anything that needs updating. There are just a handful listed at the moment, so I’d love your help in expanding this resource.

Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out what I should study for my bachelor’s and would really appreciate advice from people already working in the Nepali dev/IT field.

I’m from Damak, and I’m considering BSc CSIT or BIT.

I didn't score a high enough rank in the BSc CSIT entrance to realistically get into a TU government college in Kathmandu Valley, so my options are basically:

• BSc CSIT at a private college in Kathmandu — but this could be quite expensive.
• TU BIT — potentially cheaper, but I’m not sure how good the options are.
• BIT at a private foreign-affiliated college such as Texas or other colleges — but again, I’m not sure whether the extra cost is actually worth it.

My main goal is to become a software developer, and eventually I may want to study/work abroad.

I studied Technical Education at Himalaya Secondary School, so I have some basic knowledge of programming, databases, networking, etc. But honestly, I didn't take +2 very seriously and spent a lot of my time playing games 💀. My fundamentals are pretty weak right now, so I also want to know where I should start learning from.

For people currently working as developers or studying BIT/BSc CSIT:

1. Does BIT vs BSc CSIT actually make a significant difference for a developer career?
2. Given my situation, which option would you choose and why?
3. Is an expensive private BSc CSIT worth it, or would TU BIT + self-learning be the smarter choice?
4. Are foreign-affiliated BIT programs actually worth paying more for?
5. Which colleges would you recommend for BSc CSIT or BIT in Kathmandu?
6. Since my fundamentals are weak, what should I learn first before/during my bachelor's?

I'm mainly looking for honest opinions from people who have actually studied these degrees or are working in the industry. I'd especially appreciate advice about teaching quality, practical skills, internships, placements, fees, and what you wish you had known before choosing your college.
