SAT tutor suggestions?

Hey guys😁

So I'm in my application year and I need a good SAT score (1500+) ASAP. I preped last year by myself using Khan academy and Schoolhouse but my score didn't improve at all. As an international student I didn't really have the time to prepare during the school year so summer is my only chance. I don't want to end up like last year so I was hoping someone could suggest some good programs that have 1-1 tutoring that yield good results. For money, I'm not rich at all so the cheaper the better but it's something my family is willing to invest in. Also any experiences with how to most effectively study with a tutor (e.g., how many times a week, asynchronous work etc.) would be greatly appreciated. My current score is 1160 (660 RW and 500 Math). I'm actually good at math in school but we learn different content than what the SAT tests so concept gaps and silly mistakes are my biggest issue. For RW I haven't really put much effort in yet because I know I can improve it easily (atleast compared to math). My pain point is mostly the command of evidence questions

OnePrep questions look AI generated with a paywall so I'm building a better one for myself

https://reddit.com/link/1ums8i0/video/ontnxjbmd3bh1/player

I am making a free google extension that gives the college board’s question bank a good interface.

OnePrep's question bank has a good user interface, but the questions look like they use AI to write them, I don’t wanna do questions that I don’t know the quality of especially not for an exam like the SATs. Plus, most of their questions are behind a paywall.

The College Board's question bank has real SAT questions, so what you practice on matches what you'll see on the actual test. The problem is the user interface sucks, and it’s kinda hard to use. I built a free version of a Google extension for my own use.

You guys can check it out it's called Focused Practice.

Is Khan Academy or Tutorlini Ottecono Course Better for math?

haven’t taken the actual SAT yet or any practice test, but my PSAT score is 1100. I just started using Khan academy but my progress is slow, and I’m not sure if it’s a rate of my time or not. For someone who’s sitting at a score of around 500ish for math, which one would be more effective? I’m aiming for a 1500+

best study method for 720+ math

hi guys. posted a lot on here but would like some final help! on SAT math, i've gotten 630, 650, and 620 in that order. between the 650 and 620, i lightly studied for geometry and it increased but psda decreased and that's the extent of my studying. i'm naturally better at english (740 no studying) and would like tips for september. i'm considering khan academy but not sure if i should do the whole course? ik the collegeboard question bank should be helpful. if this adds more context, my categories are missing one bar in everything except missing 3 in psda (previously it had been missing one and geometry had been missing 2). let me know and thank you! also, is this even a feasible goal? i def haven't maxxed out my potential and am pretty good w pattern recognition

How to improve vocabulary for non-english people?

Hi everyone, I’m currently a 12th grader and I recently immigrated to the US. Since I’m new here, my English is still quite weak, which is proving to be a huge hurdle for me. I’m planning to take the SAT around the end of this year. However, my current score is stuck at 1000, with my Reading and Writing section hovering just slightly above 400.

Has anyone here been in my shoes before? How did you guys approach studying SAT vocabulary?

With English not being my first language, the vocabulary and comprehension parts feel overwhelming. If I start grinding hard right now, how much of an improvement can I realistically expect by the end of the year? Thank you so much

R&W score boost before August (660 -> 700+)

I scored 660 on RW and 760 on Math on my June SAT. I am actually very happy with this score, because I expected MUCH MORE lower results. However, I desperately need at least 1450+ or ideally 1500+ on my August SAT, and obliviously to maximize my chances I need to focus on RW. I am an international student and I actually struggle with RW generally, and 660 was my highest score so far. So I wanted to ask some tips for this time until August SAT to actually improve. I also will provide some more detail for you guys:

  1. My best side is grammar, I just learned all the rules like it was Math and I get all the questions right in 90% of the cases.

  2. My main struggle is obviously the long reading comprehension passages, I practice them by reading a lot similar level scientific texts.

  3. I also completely don’t get how to get vocab questions right. I mean if I don’t now what they mean how I suppose to pick the right one. People say just trust your intuition and how the word sounds to you, but I want to be absolutely sure picking the answer.

  4. Also the Old English texts drive me crazy, I learned the basic stuff like thee, thou, o’er hast and etc. but it is often not enough to fully comprehend the passage. I feel like it would be a good eay to improve in those kind of questions, because they are usually short and if I would be able to understand them it could dave a lot of time.

I accept all the tips you can offer, and if you have specific method how to practice effectively to actually improve and not just doing 10 hours of practice questions and stay on the same level because you just blindly doing them and not even thinking about your process. I would really appreciate the advice that could help me to progress by studying smart.

I greatly appreciate your time, and thank you all ahead for all your advices!

OnePrep vs. the College Board Question Bank?

I used OnePrep a bit and I like the interface. But a lot of the questions seem AI-generated, and I can't judge how well they match the real exam. For the SAT I'd rather not do stuff that might not be good quality. Also they paywall the question bank like I can’t do more than twenty questions and the challenging questions without a subscription.

The College Board Question Bank questions are real. But the interface kinda sucks.

I found this extension called Focused Practice. It basically adds a nice UI to the college board question bank and tracks the questions you did right/wrong. The problem is it’s new and kinda buggy. I want to know if other people have other alternatives like this one.

Reading SAT tips

Trying to get a score of 1400+ for march SAT, but my last three practice tests on blue book have been 1270. My math score is okay (710) but reading is stuck at 560. I recently got Princeton Review for prep and when I practice I typically get many reading questions wrong. Any tips on how to improve reading score.

SAT Question Leaks and Cheating in Azerbaijan

I'm a high school student from Azerbaijan, and recently there has been a lot of discussion here about SAT fraud. Last year, there were widespread allegations that SAT questions were being leaked and sold before the exam. Some private prep centers were allegedly involved, and as a result, students from wealthy families, some of whom reportedly can't even write their own names in English, ended up scoring +1500 on the SAT. Additionally, the score required for admission to the only university in Azerbaijan that accepts SAT scores increased dramatically, making it much harder for students who earned their scores honestly.

This situation really worries me. How closely does the College Board monitor cases like this? When large-scale cheating happens in a country, does it negatively affect students who studied honestly and earned their scores fairly?

Has anyone experienced such a disgusting situation in their own country? If so, how did the College Board respond? Could something like Azerbaijan being unofficially "blacklisted" happen, where SAT scores earned in Azerbaijan become viewed with suspicion or are not accepted?

I also heard that Czechia does not accept SAT scores taken in Azerbaijan. Is that true?

For students who don't want to be affected by these issues, what are the best options? Is it possible to take the SAT in a neighboring country instead? Are there any more affordable alternatives?

SAT HELP. Retaking the SAT and need study advice.

I did the SAT last August after studying for like 2-3 weeks and I maxed out khan academy (crown on everything) and did 8 bluebook practice tests where the last practice test i got a 740 on math (that was like 2 days before the actual test). Then... I did the test and got a 670 math and 680 English even though I felt like I did well and practiced a lot 😕 i booked the August 2026 sat and started by just checking a few questions on the college board question bank but I dont know what to do since math is fun and not difficult for me but that grade just threw me off cuz I wasn't prepared to see anything below a 700 after studying my butt off😓 anyways I really want to fix my grade so any tips for the August SAT?? Any advice for English and math would be very much appreciated (I really really really want a 1600 i know colleges dont care and there's no difference between 1500 and 1600 but I just want to get a 1600)

Got tired of greedy apps charging a fortune for SAT prep so i made the better alternative.

Hey guys im 17 and prepping for SAT as an international student. When i started this journey i was pretty confused as to what resources to use. ppl suggested khanacademy to clear the foundation and use bluebook practice tests. but it wasnt enough to score good in SAT. I wanted to practice challenging questions and track my journey. And unfortunately bluebook(the official app of collegeboard who conduct SAT) was only supported on mac/ipad and windows. but i was rocking a linux mint setup. Got to know about the collegeboard student question bank website where they hosted actual SAT questions in pdf form. BUT honestly? it was such a bad idea. static pdfs are boring and you cant track the progress or run analytics and there was a hard cap on how many questions you could download at once and you had to select each question manually which was a tedious process imo. I was looking for an all-in-one SAT prep place, then I got to know from the official r/Sat about oneprep. I tried it and was instanlty amazed. but the amusement only lasted so long, as the app was an ai slop and every other feature was locked behind paywall i got frustrated as i couldnt bear to spend that much money.

So i created Sevrony. A free and opensource client-side SAT prep tool where you can prepare for SAT without having to worry about tracking your progress. It runs by parsing a custom .sat-test file which the user provides by extracting it from the CB student question bank website using the sat-qb-exporter chrome extension which is also made by me.

Features:

>Runs on any device which supports a browser.(The official bluebook website only supports mac/ipad and windows)

>Supports importing of bluebook practice tests too using sat-qb-exporter chrome extension.

>Has cross device sync feature using google drive.

>Allows you to turn those static pdfs into interactive tests

>Tests include: subject tests(RW or Maths) and full test(RW & Maths)

>Allows you to review answers, sort them by incorrect and omitted(a feature which official bluebook lacks)

>Retry mistakes either from overall QB or a specific test

>Has 7-Band IRT model implemented which acts like the adaptive module routing system of Bluebook.

>Tries to resemble the actual SAT exam testing interface as closely as possible.

>Has gamified streak system and analytics.

>Has a mistakes log feature where you can keep a journal as to what question you got wrong, why you got it wrong and how you can overcome it. You can also sort by tags and even add a custom tag.

>Has a separate Vocabulary feature which features SAT specific vocabs.

>The vocab feature has 2 modes: one is normal flashcard mode while the other consists of 4 separate sections which helps you grasp vocab better. Flashcard, MCQ, Match the column and the most brilliant create a sentence section.

>The sentence section is powered by AI which evaluates your sentences and gives you a feedback as to what you did right or wrong and how you can improve as compared to the generic "correct/incorrect" stuff.

You can access the github repo for detailed info if you want.

Now i have few things left to say.

"You made it yourself?" tbf both are vibe coded and it took me more than a month to reach this phase. But hey, if you read this far then you already know that this isnt another generic ai slop but actual worthwhile thing.

"Why is it fully client side?" well, i didnt want to pay a single penny. i built all of it completely for free.

"Why google drive sync and why do i have to renew my session after an hour or so?" hehe as the site is client-side so there is no way to automatically refresh drive token. so you have to click a single button every other hour or so to renew session.

"So i cant use it without renewing session?" LOL you can. its js the data wont sync to the cloud and stay on our device as long as you dont wipe your device data. and will sync to cloud again when you renew it.

"So will it stay like this?" well as you can see ive added a support the project button which currently only accepts UPI payment.(WARNING: DO NOT PAY ME ON KO-FI AS OF NOW. as im under 18(will be turning in a month) so my paypal isnt set up fully. so if you donate then the money will be refunded to you automatically. So, if userbase explodes and ppl donate to me enough to cover the server costs and contribute to my college fees then ill continue maintaining the site and will implement a backend.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HOW DO YOU TEST THE SITE WITHOUT HAVING TO IMPORT THE FILE.

simple. in the landing page click demo sandbox and you are good to go.

You can drop your feedback here or you can use the feedback button in my website(That way i would also be able to test if it works lol).

Is it unrealistic to jump from 1300 to the 1500s?

International SAT test taker here. I've just finished 11th grade and I'm about to begin 12th grade (my final year of high school) in late August.

My first SAT attempt was the June SAT. I scored 1300 (720 Math, 580 R&W).

I am retaking the SAT in August and aiming for a score in 1500s. I want at least a 790 in Math and I'm aiming to score at least low 700s in R&W. Is this an unrealistic target?

As an International student who is aiming to apply to colleges in the United States for either Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, I am in desperate need for a high SAT score... either a score in the 1500s or 1450+ would do the job (but more preferably 1500s, as the majors I'm applying for are highly competitve). The August SAT will probably be my final chance to attempt the SAT... I don't think I will be able to acommodate another attempt due to other exams, hectic study schedules for my subjects, managing ECAs + essays and college application deadlines. So the pressure is on to do well in August.

I would just like to know if it's realistic to aim for a jump by >=200 points in a span of approximately 2 months. Is it doable guys? Thanks for taking the time to read my post!
