I don't own a dog but I'm going to condescend to other people about dogs all day

I don't own a dog but I'm going to condescend to other people about dogs all day

Just constant hostile energy and then playing the victim over negative comments

I'm so over people's obsession with well-bred dogs btw

Wondercide’s recent campaign

I use wondercide on my dog occasionally (really only when we’re camping or hiking in back country) because it’s always felt a little risky to me to use essential oils on my dog, but I’ve seen a LOT of trusted dogtokers using it on their dog. After this campaign I think it’s time to keep an eye on who still promotes them 👀

Jayce the Greyhound

So I am a LIMA trainer who believes in he ability of R+ training and I fully believe it works when set up right. However I’m not living in a delusional where anyone can just know how to do R+ perfectly and get off all aversive tools at once and stuff. So when Jayce the greyhounds posted something say that you CAN NOT LOVE YOUR DOG IF YOU USE AVERSIVE TOOLS
Yeah I took offense to that. I train my personal dog with mostly R+ but my mom uses a prong collar to manage her well behaved Ridgeback (who was trained mostly R+ and the prong is there as backup)
I hate when R+ trainers make blanket statements like this. Because these same R+ trainers get mad when the Balanced community pulls out the your dog is going to get hit by a car if you don’t use an ecollar for recall. Like that is ignoring so many other options in recall training like management and leashes. But yet here a R+ trainer is ignoring so many other options and such. Like a small female owning a large breed reactive dog that lunges and IS NOT SAFE to be on a harness where they might need to use aversives for SAFTEY. Does that person love her dog less then Little Miss perfect R+ trainer with an ego. No, people often uses aversive tools as management not “training” like in the Ceaser Milan way. I hate Ceaser. Or what about disabled people who otherwise would not be able to safely walk their dogs without aversive tools. Do they love their dogs less then little miss perfect R+.

I had to rant cuase this pissed me off. And she’s ignoring a huge group of people who are using aversives for actual safety and people who are disabled and such. R+ is a great thing to strive for, but also be realistic and understand that aversives bring a level of safety that R+ might not be able to.

DogTok Racism & Jameson the Doodle (@kates_pack)

I found this page from goldenagoutis and it needs to have this discussion. DogTok creators want to jump on every trending topic or news story touching on dogs, but, sometimes, this is where they reveal how ignorant they truly are. @kates_pack and @kayleighanddogs still have not made apology videos for their micro-aggressions or outright racism with regard to Jameson the doodle and the dog’s Black owner. At least Kayleigh deleted her video. How did Kate make a three minute video about an incident of police brutality against a Black woman targeted for her joy and not mention race or any broader systemic societal issue once?

Maddie seems to be using a burner to reply to comments on her own post (@myboyrudder)

She always uses ✌️🖤 and the comments read like they were written by her

My boy rudder is such a hypocrite

It’s so funny how Maddie yaps and yaps about the benefits of raw food and how it’s so great and healthy and openly shames kibble even tho she claims to not be a kibble shamer it’s so obvious
. Yet her dog has cancer on a raw diet, and here her and all sorts of raw only creators claim kibble CAUSES cancer like girl your dog got cancer on a raw diet I could go around screaming about how raw causes cancer but you don’t see me doing that do you. God she pisses me off sometimes I blocked her even tho I really agree with her takes on car restraints but her food takes and kibble shaming while her raw fed dog has cancer is so hypocritical

This is comical really

I’m sorry but that does NOT look like fresh food. There’s probably greens that are giving it that green tint but doesn’t look like fresh meat to me. It’s clearly already browning..
I’m curious to see how many bags of Darwin’s are “blown up”. (Usually if there’s a significant amount of bacteria growth, the packaging will expand).

I’m also curious why she left out her vet’s recommended vitamin routine?? She gave the rest of the information about his food but not that?? Seems weird

Kayleigh (@kayleighanddogs) misleading followers about her shelter

Kayleigh (@kayleighanddogs, 27k followers) is a shelter worker at a municipal shelter that serves a metro area of about 100,000 people. Her work includes euthanasia. She has a series in which she posts her process of choosing which dogs to euthanize, showing videos of the dogs that have been killed by the time the video is posted. When people ask how they can help the dogs at her shelter, she says she is doing all she can in her local community and directs them to help their local shelters instead.

Kayleigh posts videos 1-2 times per day because, as she has said, she is trying to make social media her full-time job. What she doesn’t share is that the dogs at her shelter get almost no visibility online outside of her page. Her shelter has no website showing adoptable dogs. No current Instagram page. No TikTok page. No PetFinder. There is a Facebook page for shelter that posts photos of new dogs on stray holds, and when the dogs are past stray hold their photos are moved to an album titled, “Adoptable Dogs.” The photo posts only include gender and location where the dog was found. There is one (usually terrible) photo and no information about age (puppy/adult/senior), temperament, or anything else. I’m posting an example with location-specific info blurred out.

There have been recent local Facebook posts about the need for change at the animal control facility, demanding it “to not euthanize another dog until the city creates a Facebook adoption page where animals can be offered to the public.” The shelter’s social media presence doesn’t even meet that low bar. Kayleigh posts these dogs on social media almost every single day—just not where it could help them. She misleads her followers about what else is being done locally to bring visibility to these dogs.

I finally blocked

Maddie’s newest video was enough to push me over the edge.

Don’t get me wrong, i completely agree that having your dog ride in your lap while driving is wildly unsafe for everyone involved, but you don’t need to yell at people over it. It’s just not an effective way of educating people, no one who has their dog sit in their lap in the car is gonna have their minds changed by you yelling at your phone and saying that you must not even like your dog.

I don’t know why this was the one that did it for me, i’ve been annoyed by her endless kibble shaming and pushing of unbacked raw foods for a while now. I was just.. done.
