Dream11 might not be coming back this time.
After the RMG ban, we all saw what happened. Dream11 kept trying different things free contests, smaller and bigger prizes, subscription packs, then stopping them and bringing them back again. Before IPL 2026 they came back pretty strongly with big prize pools, but after the IPL everything disappeared again.
And now this notice says that 1 March 2027 will be the last day to withdraw prizes.
Dream11 has also said that they've discontinued prizes and moved away from fantasy sports.
Honestly this feels different from the previous pauses. Maybe this time they're actually closing that chapter.
Still I wouldn't completely give up hope. If someone eventually finds a way to make it work within the law, things could change again.
What bothers me more is that the problems haven't really disappeared. If anything, some of them can get worse when an entire industry is pushed out instead of being properly regulated. And there were also genuine benefits that came with having a regulated industry.
Maybe there was a better middle ground somewhere between let it run freely and ban it completely.
