Oldhead here, so apologies. I came up loving rap in the era of XXL and The Source, which for me was the best way to discover new music. I’m much older now, but I’m still deep into music. I feel like I have at least one magazine for each of my genre interests — Decibel for Metal, MOJO for “classic” rock, etc etc — but I can’t seem to find one for rap. There was OG Press magazine for like a half second and I loved it, but then it died. I don’t wanna be at the mercy of the algo, and Fantano is a fucking assclown. I like Sam Bucked Up and Passion of the Weiss, but is there any semi-regular publication I should be getting on? Street Dreams was another one I liked that seemed to have stopped. Anyway: would love some suggestions.

This video low key kinda crazy

I was looking at the credits and noticed Badu is noted as having “additional vocals.” But isn't anywhere immediately noticeable on the song. Until I actually listened to the singing and realized “damn that sounds a lot like Badu.” Now I just have to find the song it’s from but I want yalls thoughts.

This pops up back in my head occasionally, every few months or so, and I’ll desperately attempt to look for this video — but always fail to find it (very possible it’s been deleted).

I have little to no faith at this point, it’s not THAT serious either lol but if there’s any chance, it may be through here, so figured I’d ask … Because it would be epic to come across this video again after so long, I’m sure some of you get the feeling.

Will try to provide as much context as possible:

• I first came across this snippet back in 2010-2011 after the infamous EARL music video / tape dropped, just going down ‘sly tendencies’ rabbit holes on youtube fiending for tracks

• the snippet’s around 30-40 seconds long

• it’s earl in some orange-lit home studio bobbing his head to some hard trap-style beat you can hear some epic horns in the background over his vocals

• i don’t think the song previewed as a snippet ever ended up being officially released … if so, i would’ve immediately recognized it considering the impression the snippet alone’s left on me till this day

I broke up with my girl recently. She said I love earl more than her. I don't think she understands that I have priorities. And I love the guy so much. I just think me and earl would be best friends if we met. When I'm listening to people like 12kgotti, zelooperz, mkyfm, niontay, 454 etc etc I feel this deep overflowing sense that I'd get down with earl if we hung out. I'd put on my playlist. He'd look at me with the type of look that says a thousand words. Even though I'm a white boy I think he'd be like you're alright.

Anyone else feel this way?
