i think i cracked everyone&everything

Ok so at the exhibition in London whilst I was tripping I think I figured out the meaning behind “Everyone & Everything”. I’m not sure if anyone else has interpreted it this way yet but it seems quite clear to me.

I saw the Pitchfork review and it made the song out to be Edward telling his fans to shut up, and I was like nah that doesn’t really seem right. I also saw Professor Skye’s interpretation and I thought he may have misinterpreted it too. Anyways this is my interpretation of the song:

I remember somewhere Edward saying that he “puts his ego on the beats” — it might’ve been in Skeletrix Language or somewhere else, I’m not completely sure — but I think that links directly to this.

What I believe the song is: Edward’s ego telling itself to shut up.

To explain, when Eckhart Tolle and other spiritual teachers describe presence (what Edward describes as peace), they describe it as outside of space and time — a space between thoughts, quietness, stillness, pure consciousness. Something beyond the mind.

For example, on page 77 of The Power of Now, Tolle writes:

>“You can’t think about presence and be present.”

and

>“Understanding presence is being present.”

This links to the lyrics:

I think this is Edward’s ego telling itself to shut up because consciousness exists outside of the ego. In this song Edward is talking about the nature of consciousness, which is “everyone & everything”.

On page 82 of The Power of Now, Tolle writes about an “unmanifested state of oneness and perfection — totally beyond anything the human mind can comprehend,” which links back to the previous point and also to the “everything” part of the song.

Further linking to the “everything” part, he also writes:

>“Everything that exists has being... has some degree of consciousness.”

That explains the “everything” aspect of the song. And the “everyone” aspect comes from the idea that beneath everybody’s thoughts and identity, at the root, there is only consciousness — the same consciousness everything consists of.

This also links to the part where he says:

“I can’t be another clone”

and then follows it with “Please shut the fuck up.”

The ego seeks separation and identification because it wants to feel separate, and that separation inflates it. So again the “shut the fuck up” is directed at the ego.

The lyrics in between also feel ego-driven — materialism, self-image, egocentric stuff, etc. but he does mention hes putting us on and like he said in office of miracle hes trying to put us onto peace in our lives

I think this way of listening can actually be applied to the whole album. For example in “Pain & Torture” when he’s calling himself stupid, I think he’s talking to the ego. By viewing the ego as stupid, he doesn’t have to identify with it and can instead remain as consciousness. That one is harder to explain logically though — i could explain it fully but the post would be too long

Anyways I thought about all this whilst tripping and felt that state of consciousness very strongly and me and my boy were joking about being edward. It was honestly amazing. In that state everything feels like it makes sense, and I think that feeling of everything making sense is consciousness itself. Edward even has both of his ig bios as "Everyone & Everything" showing that this song must have some type of meaning beyond telling his fans to shut the fuck up or telling that to critics. obviously this is just an interperatation

Just wondering because I can look at it from two perspectives:

1. He’s a handsome healthy guy who looks seemingly very well rested
2. The night is his domain: he uses it as a creative inspiration in making his music

Personally I think he gets around 7 hours of sleep
