flight cancelled

hi ! hoping to get some advice on how baggage transfers work when flights are cancelled? so i originally had booked with qantas to go from london heathrow to wellington (lhr->sin, sin->syd, syd->wel) but qantas cancelled the lhr->sin, sin->syd flight, and ive been rebooked onto an emirates flights the following day with the route, lhr->dxb (emirates), dxb->mel (emirates), mel->wel (qantas), because my itinerary is no longer with qantas all the way, do i have to retrieve my checked luggage at melbourne and recheck it in for my qantas flight? or not because i was originally meant to be with qantas the whole way, and they cancelled the original booking? i hope this makes sense, and i appreciate any advice, because i rang qantas up and got different advice over the phone compared to their website so im confused. thanks in advance ☺️

DXB Terminal 3 lounge recommendations

Hey everyone,

We’re transiting soon through DXB T3 with a family (kids included) around noon on a Monday. Using DragonPass.

We were originally planning on Plaza Premium (Concourse A) but recent reviews have us second-guessing it. Now looking for a reliable lounge in our own concourse (we won’t have time to switch concourses).

Priorities:

  • Good casual buffet food with decent variety (normal stuff kids will eat, not too limited)
  • Comfortable seating for relaxing (one person has back pain)
  • Clean bathrooms
  • Some space for kids if possible

Which would you recommend for each concourse (A, B, C):

  • Concourse A: Plaza Premium or Ahlan A1 or Marhaba A?
  • Concourse B: Ahlan B26 or Marhaba B?
  • Concourse C: Ahlan C13 or Marhaba C?

Recent experiences (2026) would be super helpful. Thanks!

Premium economy (buy or upgrade? - seat pref

I’m flying Emirates to Australia and trying to figure out the best way to book Premium Economy

Is it usually cheaper to book an Economy ticket first and then upgrade to Premium Economy later, or does it generally work out the same as booking Premium Economy from the start? Has anyone noticed a meaningful price difference between the two options?

Also, are there any Premium Economy seats or rows I should avoid on such a long flight?

Thanks!

Emirates cancelled our Bangkok flight and now refuses a proper refund

Our Emirates return flight from Bangkok on March 2 was cancelled due to the Iran-related airspace disruptions.

The cancellation itself is understandable. The problem is that Emirates support was unreachable and we were left stranded in Thailand with no assistance or rerouting options.

One of the passengers in our booking has a disability, and because we could not get any help from Emirates, we had to buy last-minute tickets with another airline to get home, which cost us around $1,500.

The original round-trip tickets purchased directly from Emirates cost about $1,300. Emirates is now refusing to reimburse any of the additional expenses and offers only about $300 back, claiming that the cancelled return segment was worth only that amount.

Has anyone else experienced something similar during the March disruptions? Were you able to get a full refund or reimbursement?

Departure Process

Recently, Emirates posted an announcement about being at the airport earlier because of an anticipated volume of passengers departing from DXB this July. Has anyone experienced an unusual process slowdown or larger volume of passengers recently?

Is premium economy worth it if the flight is not full? Bogota - DXB (ultra long flight)

It's an ultra long haul flight (20 hours) with a stop in Miami. I already did the first half (Dubai - Bogota) and was lucky enough to have a full row of 4 seats just for me so I was able to lay flat (although a random lady moved to my row (uninvited) and forced me to sit for a few hours until she got the memo.

So should I upgrade or should I just stay in economy trusting the flight won't be full?

Hi - For Business Class passengers, does Emirates staff help with making the connection? Have a 1 hour connection flight at DXB to JFK. Or should I book Marhaba assistance? Thanks!

can i bring suitcases AND boxes on a flight?

hi everyone

im moving from the uk to dubai with a bunch of things, mainly just clothes and many things of sentimental value. it is so far equalling to 5 suitcases and maybe 2 medium sized boxes?

i’ve already booked my ticket (the 19th of this month) and have paid for an extra 20kg allowance on top of the 30kg complimentary baggage allowance. and now could potentially pay another 20kg (about £150).

i have already talked to a couple of air freights companies who offer door to door services which saves me the hassle of lugging around so many suitcases and boxes. the one i’ve spoken to most recently has quoted me about £650 for 1 suitcase and 2 medium boxes so, of course just bringing those with me on the flight is much cheaper option for me.

so yeah i was wondering if i can bring 5 suitcases and 2-3 boxes to the airport as well? or is there a limit to how many cases one could bring despite the extra allowance bought?

sorry if the answer to this question is quite obvious

edit: corrected the price for 20kg allowance

London to Dubai flight empty!?

I flew from London to Dubai recently, I fly this route all the time and usually these flights are about 80% full. This was the emptiest A380 I've ever seen, it took less than 10 minutes for the meal service! I just think it's interesting how quiet the flights are 4 months on from the madness. inshallah dubai will recover🤲

Can I bring a boxed iMac as hand carry on Emirates?

I’m flying with Emirates and want to take an iMac in its original box as hand luggage.

The boxed dimensions are 55 × 55 × 17 cm.

Has anyone done this before? Will Emirates allow it in the cabin, or will I have to check it in?

Emirates boarding song

Hello guys.

Back in 2012 I took an Emirates flight that brought me to Australia, where I'd spend the last 14 years (so far) and I still remember when I was boarding the plane (A380 🫠) they had this "classic" song that immediately I fell in love with. I always have it in my phone and I play it when I'm boarding (even when I travel with other airlines). It brings be so many memories.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQrNvnIYh_0

I know they still play it but I feel they "cut" it half way and they play some other stuff that isn't inspiring. Oh well. Just my two cents about Emirates (:

Anyone has experience flying with Infants on Emirates?

Hello Everyone,

I will be flying from Los Angeles - Dubai (EK 216) soon on emirates with my 5-month-old baby. I have flown this route multiple times but first time with a baby. I would like to how and when to request a bassinet seat. I am booking the flight through a third-party site.

So, anyone has experience with how to get bassinet?

Do they have bottle warmers?

Do they give seats to adults based on where bassinet is located automatically?

I heard they have strollers at Dubai airport is that true and someone accessed it recently?

Do they give first flight certificate and pictures with captain and crew?

What are the weight restrictions for baby luggage? Can we take breast pumps, strollers, car seat?

It's a round-trip flight so do i need to request bassinet seat again while returning to US?

What other perks emirates provides when flying with an infant on lap?

Any other pointers to note would be helpful from parents who have flown recently.

Thanks everyone. Appreciate your help.

Any way to get an Emirates Skywards+ "20% Discount on Classic Rewards" voucher back after canceling?

I need to cancel an Emirates Classic Reward ticket that I booked using my annual Skywards+ 20% discount voucher.

Has anyone here actually cancelled a Classic Rewards booking after using the Skywards+ 20% voucher?

Did the voucher/discount come back to your account, or was it permanently lost?

Also curious if anyone had success calling Emirates and getting it manually reinstated as a goodwill exception.

Can I cancel my hotel booking for transit visa?

I have 16 hour transit in Dubai and got a 48 hour transit visa through emirates website. In my visa application they asked for a hotel reservation and I booked a hotel from booking.com with free cancellation.

Now that I recieved my visa, can I cancel my hotel? I'm planning to meet a friend, roam around for few hours and come back to airport. Will they check whether my reservation is valid? Or should I cancel this and book a cheaper hotel and keep it?
