CG Deck Official Announcement Trailer Video | The Modular x86 Handheld PC

I have been working on building, developing, and prototyping my own modular handheld x86 PC called the CG Deck. After approximately the past 7 and a half months of going from initial concept to functional engineering prototype, I am finally able to officially present the soon coming release of what I have been working tirelessly on over the course of this year! I will also be ramping up and posting more videos of the CG Deck in use, and other related content over the coming days. If you are interested in the project, like the video, leave a comment and subscribe to the channel! I appreciate all of your support so incredibly much, and thank you to everyone that has been following along so far! It means the world to me!

For those who have not seen this project before, the CG Deck is an x86 based modular handheld PC which has the capability of running dual boot operating systems like Windows & Linux. Designed and built to be a device that you actually own down the the firmware. Quick swap out control modules to mix and match control schemes for your specific task. Design and make your own modules, design your own backplates, upgrade or mod the internals, and even make repairs or fixes when or if you need. The CG Deck is more attuned to a platform rather than a traditional device, giving you full capability to repair, upgrade, mod, personalize, etc.

I wanted to create my dream device, something that evolved with me as time passes. Whether I am playing Steam games, or doing retro emulation, doing CAD work in Blender or other 3D software, coding, art & design work, listening to music, home media console use, video editing, hardware tinkering or whatever it is, I wanted to be able to simply be able to do it on a single portable handheld.

Also as a little bit of an update, I am still working on the behind the scenes documentary going over the entire process from the original idea and conceptual drawing, through design iterations, CAD, creating the bill of materials, material sourcing, navigating partnerships with brands and manufacturers, prototyping, assembly, DFM rework, testing & certifications, planning mass production, figuring out the logistics of warehousing and fulfillment, and every step in between all the way though officially releasing and launching the CG Deck and bringing it to market! Because there is so much that has gone into everything (and I am still in the middle of the process doing it all :) ), I will probably post the videos as an episodic series with smaller pieces of content going up between. I will have more information about those videos over the coming weeks, and it will be posted on my personal channel.

After tons of work, we are officially gearing up for an official launch on Kickstarter to help support a full production run of the CG Deck and various modules to bring it to market! The CG Deck will be available both as a DIY Assembly Kit and a Pre-Built ready to use device! I will be sending out more information to everyone on our waitlist over the next couple of days with some new updates & announcements including early bird backer pricing, package/pledge options, and more!

Looking for recommendations for a small form factor PC to emulate XBOX 360, PS3, Wii U, and Switch games

Hey all. Looking at setting up an emulation station in my living room, and need advice on what kind of small PC to get for it. I doubt a NUC would be powerful enough, but the only specific device that comes to mind is an old Alienware Alpha and I don't know if it would still have the juice for it. Resolution would be 1080p, and I'm planning to use graphical enhancements that are usually built in to things like Cemu to boost resolution and add AA, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Handheld emulator recommendations

Good evening guys, I'm new to the emulator world. I've looked up some reviews on YouTube, and saw some buyer comments on sites like Amazon, eBay, and AliExpress, but I wanted recommendations from people who actually know about the subject. I'd like a handheld emulator, focused on PS1 and PS2 games, to play during my free time at work, in bed on cold days, in an Uber, and times like that. I'm not a fan of playing on my phone.

Silly Idea: An interactive emulator frontend for android, similar to EmuVR, or an android port of it.

I've had this idea in my head for a few weeks now. It's about either making an android frontend with the sams premise as EmuVR (or something simillar to it), or an EmuVR port for android (Which is probably harder to do).

(EmuVR is basically an emulator for VR platforms (Only for PCVR, iirc) and Windows, where you create your own bedroom, customizing it however you'd like, put your game consoles and use your LEGALLY OBTAINED ROMS to play games. This is a really barebones explanation, so, bear with me.)

The image that is stuck on my mind right now is of the player inserting a cartdrige on a Genesis Model 3 in their room, which I tried recreating on the image above.

You would insert the game on your selected console, turn it on, and it would take you to the emulator, or it would display the game on the room's TV (which I guess would be harder to do, since I would probably need it's own emulator. If possible to do that, you could toggle an option that lets you choose if you want to be sent to your emulator app, or if you want your game to be displayed on the room's TV.)

(Of course) It would have a joystick and action buttons. To not let the HUD become "crowded", some action buttons would change depending on the situation, like the "INSERT" button on the image above could change to a "PRESS" button after inserting the cartridge/disc on the console, allowing you to push the console's power button, without having to add another button.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: ANY FORM OF GENEREATIVE A.I. WILL NOT BE USED ON THIS PROJECT. If you want to help/contribute to this project, whether it'll be by making concept art, music/sfx, design, coding, etc, YOU WILL BE FORBIDDEN TO USE ANY TYPE OF GEN A.I. Thank you.

(P.S.: Sorry for my english, it may be confusing at times.)

Best emulator for Mac 12.7.6

Looking for an emulator to replace the MAME emulator I had years ago. I've seen a lot of different ones online, downloaded couple but they would not install.

My OS is macOS 12.7.6 64-bit. Intel chip.Anything that might point me in the right direction is appreciated.

Do you think Sony’s decision will boost emulation development?

So it’s been confirmed no more physicals for ps6, and nobody except the ESA likes this decision for good reason.

So my question is will this extremely anti consumer behaviour drive emulation development due to sheer frustration? The switch 1 was emulation quite fast because of its well known architecture but I can’t help but feel there was some motivation because of how dogshit the switch 1 hardware was. Could the same happen with ps6?

Of course there is a world where ps5 let alone ps6 is just not emulated for the next 10 years, but I have to believe in the impossible lol. Few months ago Denuvo basically beat piracy then out of nowhere Hypervisor and V38 came along.

ryujinx cant find the prod.keys for tomodachi life living the dream

I installed ryujinx as a zip file at first and decompressed it with winrar. my friend gave me the prod.keys and the tomodachi life file, and i had to decompress the keys too.

But when i open ryujinx i get an error message like this, and the button for "Actions" isn't even available to let me select the keys.

I went into file explorer and put the prod.keys directly into Ryujinx' system, but it still doesn't work. is it over for me???

Tomodachi Life Save Data Corrupted?

Hi !

I've played about 100 hrs of tomodachi life on ryujinx and all was okay until I tried to open it yesterday. I got a pop up on the game saying that my save file is corrupted. I've tried lots of things to fix it, I used a tutorial to copy one of the 1 or 0 files into the other, deleted one of them, and renamed. I've updated my prod keys and firmware. I'm downloading a newer version of ryujinx now, but I fear it's looking bleak. I couldn't find an update file for the game, so if that's the issue then that's a whole other thing. Any help is appreciated <//3

ryujinx crashes the second i try and load in a .nsp

i'm not NEW to emulation but i've only ever really emulated easier things like the 3DS and stuff you just download fully working, never something like ryujinx that i had to install keys and firmware and stuff! i'm trying to play tomodachi life living the dream.

for some information, the images above, in order, is the ryujinx file im using, the ryujinx console when its up before crashing, a pop up i get as soon as i start up the emulator (in case it's important), and then the log.

i'm using 19.0.1 firmware and keys right now, the game will load but the entire emulator will just close out with no sound or alert before it pops up, any help?

edit: adding some stuff i've done to try and fix it since i almost forgot, i've tried both OpenGL and Vulcan and disabled pptc cache. some people have suggested changing the ram but im not sure where to find that in settings!

Stay tuned for the next CrankBoy update - Crank to Rewind

Next update will introduce the Rewind feature (rewind up to 10 seconds of gameplay). All you need to do is, enable it in the settings (currently for DMG games only)
