Installed a new video doorbell (after updating transformer to a higher amperage rating) and my chime suddenly started doing this. I know it’s not the transformer as I still had my old doorbell installed when I upgraded the transformer. Any idea what the heck is going on? Not sure why it gets stuck for like a second before springing back up to hit the metal and make the chime sound.

Lymow One Plus vs Eufy E18 - Detailed Comparison - Which One Is Worth The Investment?

After owning the Lymow One Plus for about 6 weeks now, ontop of the Eufy E18 I've owned since last April...I wanted to provide a detailed look at each mower, side-by-side.

Given I'm no longer a novice in this world and know what you should expect from a robotic mower, I cover all the must-haves, pros, cons, and which one is worth the investment ($1,500 vs $3,000).

I've gotten more savvy with screen recording, so you can see the app user interface while I demonstrate the mower cutting my backyard. Spent a great deal of time diving into all the features, which ones you should pay attention to...and best practices for ideal results with each mower.

Lastly, I've got some cool drone footage from my backyard demonstrating the cut patterns and quality for each mower, which may be the ultimate deciding factor for those of you on the fence.

Yes, I do believe you need a backup mower if you travel a bunch, since the Lymow One Plus is unreliable if it gets stuck or out of bounds somewhere...you won't be able to navigate home and will be screwed with an overgrown lawn by the time you get home...hence my reason for keeping the E18 for now.

I think i'll do a video filming the Lymow One Plus cutting some tall weeds/grass next time. Let me know what other content you guys want to see, and thanks for the support as always!

[Academic] Own or ever owned a robot vacuum? Repair behavior survey (Everyone)

Hi r/SampleSize,

I'm a final-year business student at KLU Hamburg writing my bachelor thesis on consumer repair behavior for robot vacuums.

The survey takes 8–10 minutes and is open to anyone who currently owns or has previously owned a robot vacuum — brand and price range don't matter, and you qualify whether you still have it or not.

The study explores how owners feel about their devices and what they decide when something breaks: repair, replace, or something else. It feeds into a broader thesis on when it makes strategic sense for manufacturers to invest in repair programs beyond what EU regulation requires.

Wired 2k battery Doorbell T8210 draining fast and charging slow

Hi all! I have suddenly noticed my 2k battery Doorbell T8210 wired doorbell is having battery issues. It's been fine for 1,5 years but suddenly it's draining quick (about 25% on a day, energy is set to balance) and it chargers very very slow, only 7% in 10 hours. Anyone who has similar issues and/or knows what I can do to remedy this issue? TIA 😄

String lights

I picked up a set of the string lights last year for my front yard and have really enjoyed them. It’s nice to change the light theme with the season and holidays. I was going to finally pull the trigger on getting another set for my back deck…but they are off the official site and I don’t see them anywhere else online.

Does anyone know if they are totally discontinuing with these lights?

Anyone order Eufy S2 Pro?

I did a pre-order April 12th because they said they were expecting them to start shipping mid-April. Then I got an email on April 15th that they’re “preparing my order” and it should ship in the next 3 weeks. Then silence. It’s now a month later, and I contacted support to see if they had any updates, and they just said “We recommend viewing the estimated shipping date from the order listing page for more details about when your order will be shipped.” which would have put shipping at around May 15th-ish, but still I hear nothing…. Anyone else in the same boat?

Eufy S1 Pro base station water nozzle now available for purchase

I had posted not too long ago about the issue with the Eufy S1 Pro and the water fill nozzle on the base station, which has a rubber bumper/seal that ensures the water that fills the robot actually gets to the robot. This has a tendency to tear and leak, which can interrupt mop cleaning at the base, and can even cause errors. At the time, it was fairly easy to get, but hasn't been available on Eufy's site for several months now.

As of this evening, as I post this, the water nozzle is now available for purchase on Eufy's site:

https://www.eufy.com/products/t2080211-83

If you've been frustrated with how difficult it is to get, now's the time to snag a few.

eufy floodlight cam can't play any events

Normally when this happens, I clear the internal memory and I am able to get the cam to play stored (locally) videos. For some reason though, the clear storage isn't showing up to let me do this. I also tried to take the SD card out, but it appears there is no externally accessible SD card.

One other issue I noticed was that the enable in the app for the camera is turned off and I cannot turn it back on - it looks like it goes on but then when I try to play a video it says unable to connect to device -10.

I have two floodlight cams doing the exact same thing. This might have started when I added a c210 eufy security cam recently - but I can't say that for sure.

Any suggestions how to reset the internal SD card?

Is the new Eufy S1 Professional actually better than the dedicated NVR setup?

Hi everyone,

The Eufy S1 Professional Homebase has just gone up for preorder in the UK (or at least very recently), and with the current £350 discount I’m seriously considering it.

Right now my setup is:

- 4 S4 max cameras connected to an NVR
- Eufy Video Doorbell
- Some additional sensors
- NVR with the Wi-Fi module installed

What I’m trying to understand is whether the S1 Pro could actually replace my current NVR setup in a better way, or if the dedicated NVR is still the superior option for reliability and performance.

The main thing attracting me to the S1 Pro is the built-in battery, 4G backup and built in speaker. In theory, if there’s a power cut or internet outage, it sounds like it could keep the system alive and connected. But I’m unsure how that works in practice with multiple NVR cameras.

Questions:

- Would the S1 Pro realistically power and keep running 4 NVR cameras during a power outage?
- Is the hardware actually more powerful/better than the current Eufy NVR box?
- Would you personally replace the NVR with the S1 Pro, or keep the dedicated NVR as the main system?
- Is the S1 Pro meant to be a full replacement, or more of an additional backup/security layer?

I’d especially appreciate feedback from anyone already using one with multiple cameras and local recording.

Thanks!

Edit 1:

Another thing that makes me wonder whether the HomeBase Professional S1 is actually meant to be superior to the standard NVR setup is the pricing and bundle configuration.

Eufy is also selling the system with the 4 PoE S4 cameras paired with the HomeBase Professional S1 instead of the regular NVR, and the total price is around £1,674 in the UK.

Unless I’m mistaken, that’s roughly £500 more expensive than buying the equivalent setup with the dedicated NVR box.

So that also makes me wonder:

- Is Eufy positioning the HomeBase Professional S1 as the higher-end / more capable system overall?
- Or are people still better off with the dedicated NVR for performance, stability and long-term recording?

Because from the outside, the HomeBase Professional S1 almost looks like a “premium all-in-one” replacement for the NVR, especially with the battery backup and 4G failover features.

Fed up with Eufy

Massive wall of text warning, TLDR at the bottom :)

I've been a Eufy customer for 3 years now and have been slowly swapping out all my equipment. I used to be a major fan, and have spent over $1K on Eufy equipment these past few years. But I have been having nothing but problems for the past year and have grown quite tired of it.

First of all the cameras are very slow to load, by far this was my biggest issue. It often takes 5+ minutes just to view a saved recording, live view is exactly the same. This makes the video doorbell entirely unusable for 2 way communication, by the time live view loads the person is already leaving.

I have a dedicated IOT network that I use for all my smart home gear that is set to 2.4ghz only, my primary network is 5ghz only, so there should be no overlap. I currently use a newer ASUS router (2025) and have a 2Gb fiber line for internet. So it's not my network that's the problem, all of my new cameras from another vendor load instantly and have no problems streaming over the internet. I use their Home Base 3, so it's not old equipment, all of my Eufy gear was bought new within the past 3 years. I had a Samsung SSD installed, so it's not a slow hard drive issue.

Second of all, their smart lock jams a lot. This has always been an issue. I've moved it around 3 different doors, one an exterior, the other two interior. You can hear it opening and towards the very end it stops, beeps, and then sends an alert that it jammed. I have to enter the code again and it magically works without changing anything else. When I put in a new smart lock from another vendor on the exterior door, it never had any issues. When I replaced it on the first interior door with yet another vendor's smart lock, that one never had any issues...

Next is the Smart Drop, that's now been discontinued so who knows how long it will be continued to be supported, I don't have high hopes there. That one has never been reliable to stay connected to my Home Base, I get maybe a couple hours a week where it actually remains connected and sends alerts. The rest of the time I relied on my Eufy doorbell to tell me when I got deliveries. Not to mention, it also jams quite frequently, half the time the delivery person ends up leaving my package on top of the drop because it won't open the first few times they hit the button. Completely defeats the purpose, my package is now even more visible than when they left it on the stairs. Never mind using a code, nobody ever followed the delivery instructions for that (that's not Eufy's fault, so no hard feelings there). Maybe it will be more reliable now that I'm selling the Home Base 3 and have since moved it onto my WiFi network.

Then there is the Eufy robot vacuum, used to work great for the first year - year and a half. Then it started having random issues where it floods the docking tray with water and generates an alert that the water level is abnormal, so it stops functioning. This went on for several months, no matter how many times we cleaned it, it still seemed to persist. That finally stopped on it's own. I don't know if it has any sort of laser sensor or not, if it does, it certainly never detects when anyone is in front of it. It ran into my ankles, my pets, random furniture, etc countless times, but that's not really a big deal. The past few months it's been randomly waking itself up to vacuum, don't know what that's all about, I even tried setting the parental lock in case my cats were messing with it, no luck. I have quiet time set overnight, yet it still randomly starts vacuuming at 3 AM. Last week it didn't go off for it's normal scheduled time once, I had to manually start it. Don't get me started on all the times it got tangled up, which is on me, but still something that it never detects (it doesn't sense when it's wheels get jammed up, it had some pretty gnarly tangles over the years that I certainly thought would have meant the end of it).

Lastly there was their fingerprint gun safe, almost forgot about that one because I got rid of it last year. The fingerprint sensor on that thing was a joke, I absolutely would not put my life on that thing working reliably. Given the nature of the product, I would say that's a pretty big issue. Trying different fingers or setting my prints up again and again never fixed it. It was a neat concept otherwise, I liked the interior lighting.

Don't get me wrong, I loved how Eufy didn't require a paid subscription (unless you want cloud backups, which isn't necessary). I liked how it felt like I was more in control over my data, since it was stored locally and yet still accessible on an app over the internet. Physically, their products felt pretty solid, they didn't feel like cheap garbage. My outdoor camera, doorbell, flood light, and solar panel all held up very well out in the elements this entire time. I just can't vouch for them anymore, it's just been nonstop frustration nowadays. I plan to keep the Smart Drop since there's no solid alternatives IMO, but that's it. I already replaced the doorbell and cameras, the only thing left to swap out is that damn lock.

TL;DR: After 3 years and $1K+ spent, I’m dumping the Eufy ecosystem due to relentless bugs, despite having a pretty solid network and newer equipment. I'll miss having local storage and no subscription costs, but I'd rather trade for better reliability:

  • Cameras/Doorbell: Take 5+ mins to load live view or recordings, making them completely useless for 2-way talk and frustrating to deal with.

  • Smart Lock & Smart Drop: Both have issues jamming, Smart Drop almost never remained connected to the Home Base.

  • Robot Vacuum: Used to constantly flood it's docking station, ignores its schedules, and randomly starts vacuuming on its own.

  • Gun Safe: Fingerprint scanner was a joke and completely unreliable.

HomeBase 3 (S380) or Pro S1?

Anyone done some in-depth testing on the HB 3 and the Pro and can give me some pluses and minuses about the user experience?

I have both in the house now, but have only tried the Pro so far. I know the technical differences, so I’m looking for more the day to day interaction (alerts, playback, recordings, AI, etc.).

Thanks so much!!

Does the Eufy Smart Drop Require a Home Base?

Does the Smart Drop require a home base to send notifications or can it be used without one?

It doesn't need to store videos, just send alerts when it's open/closed over WiFi
