apartments worth the money?

hello everyone, just wondering if anyone has 1 bedroom apartment recommendations that are within reasonable rent price for 2 people to upkeep. we would definitely be looking on the cheaper side of things, but yk sometimes too cheap means bugs and other problems and we would like to avoid that. has to be pet friendly!

What are some good second date spots in Evansville?

I met this girl off tinder and we went on a dinner date Sunday and then did some window shopping afterwards. She said she wants to go out again but I’m not really sure what to do for a second date other than smoke in my car. I’ve thought about doing mini golf or bowling but I’m not sure those are very good second date ideas. Also she’s 20 so we can’t like go to a bar or anything.

Got any good picks?

EVSC Custodial is hiring

Details:

2nd shift, 2:45-11:15pm

$20.06 starting (I believe)

Union

Insurance

15 PTO/Sick days a year

2 Weeks vacation starting

15 paid Holidays a year

Paid Snow days

Match retirement up to a certain %

I've been doing it since May. It's super easy work, get a nice pair of shoes and headphones and you basically just empty trash from classrooms, clean the bathrooms, and vacuum rooms. Yea there's a bit more than that, but that's the gist of it. Time flies and I get around 20k steps in a day so if you want to lose a few lbs it's great for that.

Working for Door dash / Uber Eats

Roughly how much do you make door dashing / Uber Eats part time? Like evenings only. Do people here actually tip? Don’t have to drive across town each delivery? Just curious.

**** HWY 41 & Mt. Pleasant

Light has been out since the storm last night. There is ZERO police traffic this evening, no flashing signs, only a small stop sign in the middle of 41 southbound! I called it in after leaving soccer practice. This will cause serious accidents as the sun goes down.

Underground Tunnels?

I went down a rabbit hole this morning, and I am trying to figure out if these are real or not...and if so, has anyone been down any of these? Are they open to the public?

So I found this page, and then found a few others mentioning them but not in one space so are they connected?

Insulation and Windows Contractor Recommendations

Hi all, just bought a 107 y/o house on the west side and even with a new HVAC system it is incredibly hot. I think the windows and insulation need replaced, so I am wondering if anyone has any contractor recommendations for exterior wall insulation and window replacements.

Thanks!

Anyone headed to Cincy?

Garage beer apple was only released in OH, and I’m looking to see if anyone is happening to be taking a trip down that way and could bring back down some of this beer to try. I’ll pay extra. Let me know! Thanks guys!

Where to get cheese pizza with a bold, salty sauce on it??

Essentially the title, ive been to The Slice so far and the cheese pizza there was decent but not what i was wanting flavor wise. I run into alot of places with a sweet or mild tasting sauce. **im only considering cheese pizza for this post.** My opinion is that if your toppings are what makes the pizza tastes good then its not great pizza. I prefer doughy crust but if thin crust pizza is what will have a good sauce on it here then ill take it

Looking for work. Anyone hiring?

I’ve Been job hunting nonstop and I’m down on my luck with getting any responses, I’ve been putting in applications nonstop for months and it’s as if nobody is hiring. I’m actually to the point where I’m wondering if some of these jobs on indeed are even legit or if it’s unreported spam. Anyways, I cant find work on indeed and live in Evansville, So I figured I’d ask here. I will do pretty much any job that’s Available except food service. But if that’s the only option then I will take it. If y’all know anyone or company who will hire as soon as possible please let me know. Thanks!

Flying to Evansville, or larger airport?

I need to get to Evansville. I'm buying a car near there (Haubstadt) so I need to get there without having to deal with returning a rental car.

Flights directly to Evansville are an option. Also, what about flying to a larger airport and shuttle or bus to Evansville?

Thanks for sharing your wisdom and local knowledge.

**Update:**Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll be flying into EVV!

Local CDL Holders: Ryder is hiring in Evansville. Our recruitment strategy is a joke, so a tired driver is doing it for them. (M-F, Home Daily)

Hey everyone,

I’m posting this here because my company’s current recruitment strategy consists of crossing their fingers, praying to the trucking gods, and hoping for the best.

I’ve been driving a day-cab for Ryder out here for a little over three years. Honestly? It’s a great gig. I am home every single day, the paychecks never bounce, and I work Monday through Friday. Are there higher-paying driving jobs out there? Sure. But the pay is good, I’m happy, and the absolute best part is zero office BS, absolutely NO dispatcher games, and zero shipper drama.

Right now, we are short 2 to 3 drivers.

Why? One driver moved back to their home state. The other two came from temp agencies and (as anyone in the industry could have guessed on day one) they didn't work out. I know this because I personally trained them. One guy literally opened YouTube on his phone before putting the truck in gear, and the other guy kept trying to drive off the road like he was playing Grand Theft Auto. I know because I trained them.

Our main yard is in Lafayette, and our satellite yard is in Evansville. We haul for the Subaru plant. The routes are simple:

  • One run is Lafayette and back to Evansville.
  • The other is Jackson, Tennessee and back to Evansville.

The company does absolutely zero advertising or marketing for these spots. They just rely on temp agencies to screen people, which clearly isn't working. We are short-handed simply because nobody knows these jobs exist.

If you have a CDL and you're looking for a solid, low-stress gig where you actually get to see your family every night, please go look at the Ryder job board for our area.

I'm not getting a referral bonus for this or anything. I’m literally just a tired driver who wants some normal, competent coworkers so we can get these routes covered and make all our lives a lot easier.

I'm more than happy to answer questions in the comments, but I'd recommend just going to the Ryder Jobs website and checking it out. They talk a lot prettier than me.

Thanks for reading this far!
