Lukla flight information for 2026 Autumn
For anyone planning an Everest Base Camp or other Everest region trek in September, October, or November 2026, here’s something to keep in mind about Lukla flights.
As of now, flights to Lukla are expected to operate from Kathmandu (KTM) during the earlier part of September. Around the end of September, flights may shift to Ramechhap/Manthali Airport because of increased air traffic in Kathmandu during the autumn trekking season.
If your flight is operating from Ramechhap, you’ll need to travel by road from Kathmandu to Ramechhap first, which usually takes around 4–5 hours depending on road conditions.
If you don't want to deal with the long drive to Ramechhap, another option is taking a helicopter directly from Kathmandu to Lukla. It costs more than a regular flight, but it can save quite a bit of time and avoid the early-morning drive.
For October and November, I would definitely check with your airline or trekking agency close to your travel date, because the exact operating arrangements can change. Recent travelers have also reported limited Kathmandu–Lukla flights during the peak season.
Also, keep some flexibility in your itinerary. Weather can cause delays or cancellations on both regular flights and helicopters.
Hope this helps anyone planning their Everest trip this autumn!
