Are you following 70% charge limit?
I have doubt if 70% limit is valid for all kind situations?
Exemple: day-by-day respect 70% limit but during a trip you go beyond that….

I have proximity turned off on the Locking Features since that drove me crazy - I am always walking around my car to walk the dog or take out the trash or get something from nearby.
So, I lock and unlock the car by touching the door handle and that seems as reliable as anything, not 100% since nothing is 100% on my EX30, but that is not my question.
My question is what happens if I forget to lock the car?
- does the climate control and lights continue to be on and is the car still running?
- will the car eventually go into deep sleep?
- is there any way to get a notification on my Volvo app?
My EX30 is on 1.8 software, which has been so much better than earlier versions and I am hoping (or dreaming) that the 2.x version will have some more options that let me use proximity locking again.
I am getting my ex30 on Friday. I dont have a car charger yet. My problem is that in my condo parking there is zero wifi or cell phone connection.
What charger can I get that is a dumb charger and that can he hard wired?
What charger is best for this situation?
Wifi chargers I heard they might not work without a connection..
Anyone else get a very high pitched noise coming from ventilation fans? Fluctuates a bit. Almost inaudible. Only really notice it in park in a quiet place. Lots of pressure on my ears though.
I never want my car to park itself. I'm scared and very worried that it will crash. I'm scared to even try it. Is there a danger? Does anyone use automatic parking?
Today, I got in the car for the first time in two days. I asked to Google Assistant about climate control and weather forecast so on, but she answered "Something is wrong" in English, or after standing for ~5 seconds, she said "The network is unstable. Please try later." in Japanese. No matter what I heard, she was anyway in a bad mood.
All of the other apps such as Google Map, Spotify and TuneIn etc. were normally working. Siri on Apple Carplay was also normal. I deleted the cache and restarted by steering buttons, but the symptoms did not change.
As I won't get in the car today, I hope her mood will be better tomorrow morning, after going into Deep Sleep Mode...
Have you ever had similar symptoms? At that time, what did you do to fix it?
For anyone else scratching their head over this:
I have Apple Music linked correctly to Google Assistant, but if I ask Google in my EX30 to play something it replies:
“Unable to play music. You can download Apple Music.”
Apple Music works perfectly through CarPlay, so I initially assumed something was wrong with my Google/Apple account setup.
It turns out the issue is the EX30 itself. Google Assistant can recognise Apple Music as your preferred music service, but the EX30 currently does not have the native Apple Music Android Automotive app that Assistant needs to actually play it.
Volvo started rolling out native Apple Music to Google built-in cars in July 2026, but the EX30 is currently not on the supported model list.
So, before wasting time unlinking accounts, resetting Google Assistant or rebooting the infotainment system:
- Apple Music via CarPlay works
- Apple Music can be linked to Google Assistant
- Google Assistant in the EX30 still cannot currently play it natively.
The “you can download Apple Music” message is therefore rather misleading.
Useful workaround: with CarPlay connected, press and hold the steering-wheel voice button to invoke Siri, then just say “Play…” as normal.
Hopefully Volvo brings the native Apple Music app to the EX30 soon. For now, if you’re seeing this exact behaviour, your setup probably isn’t broken.
Twin Motor Ultra MY25.
TLDR: keyfob now working after deleting digital phone key.
To those of you with keyless entry problems like myself. I recently have been having sooo many issues with the fob not working, working, standing around waiting for it to work, tapping it on the door then it not working in the car etc.. I gave up and started using my digital phone key (pixel 9 so not UWB). Which was a pain.
However, I am currently changing my phone so deleted the digi key from my old phone and the car itself but havent had time to set the new one up. During the course of not having a digital phone key the fob started working flawlessly again. It was then that I realised that its only been since around the same time I created the phone key that the fob started playing up.
A whole week with not one issue now, opening upon approach and letting me drive all whilst the fob is in my pocket. So I will not be creating another digi phone key, for me that was the problem. (the app still works fine for remote locking, charging, climate etc.) I hope this may help some folk with similar issues.
A customer contacted Volvo Customer Care in Portugal about the next EX30 software update and received this reply:
“Thank you for contacting us.
Regarding the OTA update mentioned, the next software version 2.1.2 is currently scheduled to be made available via OTA during week 36.
Regarding the situations you have reported concerning the vehicle’s functionalities, we are unable to confirm remotely whether they are related to the software version currently installed or whether there is another underlying cause.
If the symptoms persist, we recommend that you visit an authorised Volvo dealer so that a proper diagnosis of the vehicle can be carried out, allowing for a more thorough assessment of the situation and any necessary actions.
We remain available should you require any further clarification.”
Has anyone else heard anything about this?
Do you think this is legitimate, and has anyone received similar information from Volvo or their dealer?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand if I’m the only one having issues with a toll badge in a Volvo EX30.
I use a Ulys / Liber-t toll badge in France. The official Ulys installation page I’m referring to is here:
https://ulys.com/faq/comment-dois-je-positionner-mon-badge-sur-le-pare-brise/
At first, I had placed the badge near the rear-view mirror mount, but not directly on the windshield, and it only worked partially. After checking Ulys’ instructions, I moved it to the recommended area near the central rear-view mirror / black dots area on the windshield.
However, the issue is still there.
What I tested so far:
Ulys confirmed that my badge is active. Their answer was basically: if there is no dedicated dotted area on the windshield, the car may have an athermic windshield that blocks the badge signal, and I should contact the car manufacturer.
I have contacted Volvo as well, but I’m still waiting to hear back from them.
So now I’m wondering:
Any feedback from other EX30 owners would be very helpful. Thanks!
EDIT: SOLVED.
I didn’t press the reset buttons long enough.
Misfortune, we are driving from Norway to Denmark now, our daughter is going to attend university there. Backed the car out of the garage, noticed the screen won’t turn on.
As in, at all. It’s completely dark.
Tried the reset thing several times (not sure if I held the buttons for 15-20 seconds) and it won’t come on.
Unfortunately, due to the circumstances (and a 8am ferry to catch) we have no other choice but drive.
A few times we’ve mentioned that slapping the stick into drive or reverse too quickly will leave some aspects of the car confused. My complaint is that this happens with the parking button as well. A few times I’ve hit the button too quickly and it doesn’t actually go into park. I almost backed into a public charger today. It’s far more annoying than the Reverse/Drive confusion. Before you ask, yes I’m sure I depressed the button all the way, I just did it too quickly for the lame hardware to register the event. Maybe they’re multiplexing the input sampling or something and I’m done pressing it during its sample interval.
Does anyone know how to remove the plastic trim like this picture above, I found this image that someone has posted, it allowed them to remove the front badge, which is what i'm trying to do. I removed the 4 clips along the front... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Or any other advise to remove the front badge please. Thanks in advance
A “battery waiting to be fixed” client.
Just got in my EX30 to go to an appointment and I wasn’t able to put it into drive.
Waiting for it to be towed to Volvo now. Hoping to have a fix sooner rather than later.
Anyone else that has had this happened have a general ETA for how long their fix took?
I pick up my ex30 in a few days ..
Will be getting the ultra dual performance. What are some of your favorite things of the car so far? What are some of your issues you still have? I am exited... to finally join the club!
Got my battery swapped today in Mexico all 3 modules, but my battery health shows 98% shouldnt it show 100% as the battery is brand new?
I cannot activate the climate from the app for 2 days. I checked the app store if the app has any updates but it has none. Checked the car too. Climate on the car has no problems when i get in the car. But i cant activate it on the app for the last 2 days. Used it very often since i live in a very hottttt place and never had any problem until this.
The new big update firmware 2.x was leaked a long time ago. It seems like it’s completely disappeared from existence since then. What happened? When could we expect to get it?
Hi!
I want to present an alternative data point: of somebody who had zero issues with the car and who would buy it again with no regrets. Since people usually don't post if they have zero issues, it can skew the appearance to seem as if the car has more issues than it actually does.
We've bought my EX30 Plus Extended Range in December 2025, brand new. Since then we've done 17867km doing all kinds of driving across the EU. We've had zero issues. No battery recall, either.
We did two European roadtrips, one in January-February and one right now at the end of July, which was a 4600km roadtrip spanning 12 days. Mostly highways. I'm attaching a short vibe coded animation of the route we took.
It was brilliant. Charging is fast, charge-points are lots in Europe and placed in conveniant locations and we never felt like we were waiting for the car to charge, it all felt natural. A little coffee stop here, a short toilet stop there, literally zero worries (except the fact that charging networks are too fragmented at this point, but I guess time will fix this).
Trip duration: 12 days
Trip distance: ~4600km
Trip charging cost: 328Euro (equivalent to about 3.6L diesel or 3.7 gasoline)
Trip average consumption: 17.4kwh/100km
Always drove at the speed limit, the only exception was in Poland where on a short stretch there was forward wind and I lowered my speed to 130 (instead of the allowed 140) to make sure I reach the charger with 10% for optimal charging speed.
80% highway driving including German Autobahn where I reached a top speed of 185km/h (felt super in control, by the way).
I would say this is a perfectly capable roadtrip car, not just a "city car".
Finally, for the whole of these almost 18000km we have had zero issues. No service appointments, no recalls, no nothing. In case somebody reads this subreddit and thinks: "this car is full of problems!" It is not. It's just that people don't post when they have no problems.
Roughly translates to "Front distance and obstacle detection fault" Its not going away on its own, so I'm taking it to the dealer in a few days
