Why are never-JW spouses treated so differently from Inactive-JW spouses?
I am in a POMO/PIMI relationship.
My experiences are that Never-JW spouses can pursue and engage in many "worldly things" that are banned by The Governing Body while also being happily married to a PIMI.......and no one including the PIMI spouse really cares.
However, when an Inactive-JW is in a similar situation due to simply leaving, it is an opportunity for the PIMI spouse and other JWs to endlessly treat them like crap while the Inactive-JW spouse tries to do some of the same things.
Trying to understand this dynamic better and need your thoughts on it. I realize there are a lot of variations in this but am trying to summarize some basics below.
Things that are the same with Never-JW and Inactive-JW spouses:
- No interest in being a JW or professing to be JW.
- No interest in JW activities.
- Little or no interest in being socially involved with JWs.
- Pursues and maintains social connections with non-JWs.
- Engages in social activities outside JW Land such as hobbies, sports, entertainment, etc.
- Has embraced that the JW spouses spends massive amounts of time doing JW Hamster Wheel Activity and is okay with it.
Things that are different between Never-JW and Inactive-JW spouses:
- The Never-JW has always been someone outside JW Land and has made a point of always staying outside.
- Inactive-JW was once inside JW Land and now is outside.
- Debatable: The Inactive-JW has a deeper understanding of JW life and the organization.
Does their being treated differently in the JW Community simply boil down to the reality that an Inactive-JW was once an adherent and also had a religious/social contract with their PIMI spouse that they have now broken?
Is it simply an opportunity to beat a former slave?
