Can someone guide me with my khlong ferry question?

i will be staying close to the Jim Thompson house on the Saphan Hua Chang Pier. I see that the ferry towards the old city ends at Panfa Leelard Pier, but i want to make it all the way down to Phra Sumen Fortress (Pipit Banglamphu) pier on Pra Athit road.

I have seen there is an electric ferry that SEEMS to go there, but the official line shows it travels on the outer ring of where i want to go.

How can i get to the ferry stops of Phra Sumen Fortress (Pipit Banglamphu) or Norarattana Sathan Bridge nearby from Jim Thompson area?

Thanks in advance!

Worth it moving to bkk ?

Hello everybody, hope you’re all well. Im currently living in dubai, UAE, and there might be an opportunity where I would be able to move to bkk and start my own IT company. Currently, im  second generation working in the business, my father started it in dubai in 1980’s and im thinking of expanding and making the move to bkk to enter a different market, keep in mind my wife is thai so it’s a little easier to make the move. Is anybody here in IT ? We are resellers for laptops, computers, mobiles, apc ups, cables, windows software, and much more.

We're leaving Thailand - finding new tenant for owner

Hi everyone,

Due to personal circumstances (moving to another country), we need to end our tenancy early, so we’re helping our landlord find a wonderful new tenant for the apartment.

It’s a lovely 2-bedroom condominium on Soi 13, Nana.

* Rent: THB 26,000/month

* 3rd floor in a quiet, low-rise building

* Peaceful setting while being right in the heart of the city

* You can actually hear birds chirping in the mornings despite being in the city. There is also a terrace on the top + sauna + pool + gym + play area for kids

* Open-plan kitchen and living area

The owner prefers tenants who do not regularly cook strong-smelling foods (such as curry-based dishes), as the open kitchen allows cooking smells to linger throughout the apartment.

Since we are moving out, we’re happy to leave behind some items for you at no cost, including fans and other household essentials (mostly IKEA pieces). Everything is brand new, as we only moved in two months ago, and you’re welcome to use them when you move in.

We’ve genuinely loved living here and will miss it. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, please send me a message for more details/ pictures or to arrange a viewing.

THB 95,000/month (base + housing) for a couple planning a family — is saving 40% of base pay realistic in Bangkok? Honest opinions needed..

THB 95,000/month (base + housing) for a couple planning a family. Is saving 40% of base pay realistic in Bangkok? Honest opinions needed.

Received a job offer in Bangkok and need honest input before deciding. Indian engineer, moving with wife, planning to start a family within 1year. Single income household.

Package:

Base: THB 80,000/month

Housing allowance: THB 15,000/month

No relocation support, no annual flights home

Health insurance for dependents — unconfirmed

Annual increment capped at 5%

The core question: Is saving THB 32,000/month (40% of base) realistic on this package for a couple in Bangkok, with a child planned within 1year?

Specific questions:

\- Realistic rent for a decent 1BHK in a safe, well-connected area right now?

\- Is THB 95,000 comfortable, tight, or genuinely difficult for a couple in Bangkok right now?

\- For those hitting 40% savings on a similar package, what does your monthly budget actually look like?

\- Does the savings rate hold once a baby arrives, or does it drop significantly?

\- Indian expats specifically — are meaningful remittances back home possible alongside that savings target?

Not looking for reassurance, just looking for the honest reality from people living it. Thanks.

Eden Dispensary & Cafe (Thonglor, Soi 49, across Samitivej) is exploring a sale - 75k USD.

Posting here because someone in this space might know someone.

Eden Dispensary & Cafe (Sukhumvit 49, across Samitivej Hospital) is for sale. We're exploring offers until August 1st, 2026 — after that we begin converting the space into a new concept so the timeline is real.

The setup: 4 floors, ~500sqm. 1st floor has an ice bath, 40sqm outdoor garden, 120" TV lounge, and a fully licensed bar. 2nd floor is the dispensary plus one Airbnb room. 3rd floor has two more Airbnb rooms. 4th floor is convertible rooftop/storage. Lease runs to April 2027, dispensary license to December 2027.

Financials: 150k THB fixed costs monthly, 50k COGS. Revenue 400-500k low season, 600-800k high season. Net profit 200-400k/month. Airbnb runs at 90% occupancy with 100+ reviews. Clean accounting, taxes paid, SSO current, working visas issuable.

Handover fee is 2,000,000 THB. Non-negotiable — please don't lowball, it won't get a response.

Included: all inventory, merchandise, and Successful Stoner brand. This doesn't have to stay cannabis — wellness, F&B, hospitality all work in this space.

Happy to share photos and full details with serious inquiries. DM or drop a comment.

Looking for people in the same boat! 29 M, Currently in Saraburi, teaching in a government school.

Hi everyone. I am 29M, moved to thailand after living in London/Sheffield, for over 8 years.

Been in Thailand for over 3 months so far. Currently in Saraburi province, an hour away from Bangkok.

Two weeks ago I started working as an English Teacher at a huge government school here. The job is the easiest part of the life here.

The town is rural (course I checked all the details before moving here) but 🧎‍➡️🫩

The lack of some amenities, the lack of basic human courtesy, the lack of basic infrastructure almost makes me want to run away.

I am not a picky eater, I can survive for months just on Khao man kai, some oats in the morning and some peanut butter bread and fruits here and there.

And it is still difficult to find good places to eat here, sure there are small markets and stalls but I have seen how dirty some of those can be. Not to mention the hot conditions in which the food is kept and stored (please don't lecture me about hygiene etc, I know it is a small town and I should have known but this is worse on ground than it feels online)

Second thing is the absence of any freaking transport system in this town and the complete lack of walking spaces. People just drive their scooters as they like, kids as young as 11-12 year olds zoom on their scooters like they can re-spawn. I have been repeatedly asked to get a scooter for commute, okay, but what If i am scared of driving on these stupid roads (full of dust and rash drivers) ? No other option at all.

Third thing is the complete absence of any sort of warmth from the local thai teachers. Hear me out, I understand these teachers work 10x harder than me and get paid almost a fraction of what i am paid. I also understand that they see foreigners coming and going every month.

But the point I am making here is not just the distancing but some of the teachers have made it a point to Send a Notice to the foreign teachers group even for the smallest things.
I said "Good Morning " instead of Swadee kha to a teacher and they smiled and replied back. 2 hours later I get a message in my line group asking all foreigners to respect local language and culture and only greet in Thai. I gave them all chocolates in my first week and thanked them for the support (which was non existent) and I also have learnt a lot of simple thai phrases which i try to use with them, to no avail.
I am a two weeks new English teacher. Man.

Fourth, the absolutely ridiculous state of Renting an apartment.
Not to exaggerate but I (along with my agency guy) looked for an apartment (budget 1200 thai baht to 9000 thai baht), 9000 thai baht is almost luxury villa with a pool etc here in this area.
But even after i offered to pay double, I could not find a single apartment that was vacant. Not One.

We checked around 32 different buildings. The agency guy was a local. He informed me that most buildings had places available but since I am a foreigner (Who happens to look Indian/Pakistani, and hence they all refused).

Fifth, The Local people and culture, as an English teacher in a remote town, everyone is just interested in me, my life and my money. I have had 10 students come up to me with their sad stories and difficult past and asked me for money.

I have had children video calling their mothers from inside the class and one of their moms asked me if I had instagram.

The previous teacher was fired as he added some girls from the school on social media. The girls from M3-M6 classes have openly said I love you, they keep taking photos during the class and just are relentless in their pursuit. It becomes tiring after a while.

That is what I could muster for now. I am taking it slow.

Edit:::::

I absolutely love M1 (Mathayom 1) kids, class 7.
Haha, the 6-7 6-7 thing makes me giggle every time.
As soon as I go attendance, 1, 2, 3, i know what is coming.

Took me by surprise in week 1. Gets funny after that.
Gen Z man. 🏆

Thank you for reading. Open to chat with anyone who wishes to! 👋😇

Career/occupation advice needed.

So I've done 2 under graduate degrees, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of commerce + CMA(US) passed both parts + have some tech certifications which are;

Microsoft power BI, SAP FICO & S/4HANA Finance, SQL, Python for Financial analysis & automation, Microsoft Power Automate (RPA) ,

scored & did a finance internship (paid) in an MNC independently at 17 yrs of age + now at 21 yrs I'm in an MNC in my country, working, so by the time I try to move in Thailand(Bangkok) I would already have 1 yr of job experience too.

Would I be able to get a good job in the finance, business & tech department in Bangkok and go over there on a work visa?? Please tell me if I would or not!!

EDIT: To clarify my strategy based on the feedback so far: I am definitely not looking at standard, local accounting roles & firms. My goal is to target large, international technology-finance hubs and consulting networks in Bangkok, operating under BOI incentives—such as Agoda, Accenture, and the Big 4. These firms routinely utilize specialized visa quotas for hybrid tech-finance candidates like me. Additionally, I am currently actively learning Thai, to help bridge the communication gap between regional leadership and local operational teams and also cus I really love this language.

Thank you for understanding.

Thai eVisa stuck in “Pending document check” — is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I’m really starting to panic and could use some real experiences or advice.

I applied for a Thai eVisa on June 5, and it’s now June 29 — so it’s been 24 days. My application has been stuck on “Pending document check” the entire time with no update.

This is for my honeymoon, and everything is already paid for (flights, hotels, itinerary). I’ve also tried contacting support and embassy emails but haven’t received any response so far.

Has anyone experienced this kind of delay with the Thai eVisa system recently?
Is it normal for it to stay this long in document verification, or should I be genuinely worried at this point?

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone moved to Thailand as a cancer survivor?

Hello. My husband and I are considering moving to Thailand. We have a decent nest egg for our age and he would continue to work with the DTV Visa. I may also try to supplement our income with consulting as well so we don't have to touch our investments for the next few years until we hit 1million net worth in a few years. We've traveled to Thailand extensively and even got to see the medical care first hand after I had an accident. Personally, I think it's even better than the US system for many things. But the one thing I am unsure of is that I previously had breast cancer. I am cancer free for the past 2 years. I worry that this will disqualify me for international insurance coverage since it is a pre-existing condition, and if the cancer comes back (about 1 in 4 chance), will we have enough to cover treatment? I would love to hear from other cancer survivors who have moved abroad and if they were able to get treatment or if they had to move home if the cancer came back. I know Thailand has great cancer treatment facilities, so I am not worried about the quality of care, just if I can afford it if my cancer returns. At the same time, it is because I had cancer at such a young age that I want to experience life to the fullest while I am still here.

Looking for "Sister Hood" lingerie store in Platinum Fashion Mall (BKK) or Pratunam market.

Hi!

I'm planning to shop at Platinum Fashion Mall and/or Pratunam market in Bkk and I'm looking for a women's underwear/lingerie store called Sister Hood. Does anyone know which floor it's on? or the nearby landmark. I'd like to save some time instead of wandering around! TIA!

Unhygienic Conditions at Tops Store Sukhumvit

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the unhygienic conditions I witnessed during my recent visit to the Tops store at Sukhumvit. While shopping, I was astonished and quite disturbed to see cockroaches freely roaming over food items.

Destination? BANGKOK. A very brief travel story by Joseph Conrad.

Join Conrad as he floats “under the shadow of the great gilt pagoda”, and through the Thai capital “crumbling under the vertical sunlight”.

A one minute reading escape at Destinationality (no ads, no sign up).
